My room was tastefully decorated. The window faced out onto a courtyard, so not much of a view but it meant that it was very quiet despite the hotel's central location.
The bed was comfortable and the shower gives a coloured light show + musical accompaniment(!)
Breakfast is served from 6.30 and the pastries are delicious.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
The hotel is right next to the Hauptbahnhof and to Kropke tube station, so whether you want to explore locally or further afield you are in the perfect location.
My flight did not leave until late but I was able to leave my luggage at the hotel upon check out and collect it later.

We only stayed here one night, but it was a lovely stay that made a very favorable impression. We arrived in Hannover by train (not the original plan but thanks to Lufthansa's poor management, a plan we were stuck with) and were delighted to find that the hotel was just across the street from the station. Our room was very spacious and quiet and included a walk in closet and desk area, and the bathroom was over the top! There was a tv (with all my favorite international options) imbedded in the bathroom mirror , which let me watch the news while getting ready. Also, when you turn on the water in the shower, Classical music pipes in along with a colored light show! It's a bit Las Vegas-sy, but I loved it. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast had just enough options to jump-start our day.

Right next to the train station, with shops and taxis and restaurants around, this hotel is very well placed. Large, confortable and practical rooms. Quiet rooms despite central location. Very nice breakfast with attentive service. Nice materials in rooms (wood panelling, marble showers, etc..).

Only drawback is front desk service which was very dry during our stay.

Perfect. After many years of travelling Europe and experiencing many hotels ..finally a very spacious room with very nice design..Perfect location. Very kind staff.clean rooms.
Certainly a place to go back again and again.
For me personally it would have been great if you had more options on the TV...in English .
But other than that I enjoyed ir very much.

We spent 7 days in the summer of 2002 in Hannover at the Grand Hotel Mussmann. There are big rooms, large beds and the room service is good. Mussmann is located in a quiet street on the outscirts of the city pedestrian shopping center but steps away from the central Train Station. The brefkast is rich but the staff members are few. However, they will try to be helful very willingly. In pick days with many guests they may run out of e.g. orange juice or scambled eggs and you may have to tell a staff member and wait for as long as 10 minutes for them to bring the missing food (bad organization and planning?). Otherwise, stay at Mussmann and spent your money buing clothes, jewelry and very nice German souvenirs (all for both men and women).

2 Days stay in the Hotel, nothing to write home about, but a few lines here will not hurt. We arrived on a rainy day by car, nobody from the the Hotel seemed to be interested to help us to unload the luggage or bring an umbrella. The car park is not with the hotel but a few blocks away, we asked them to park the car, but they said "we can not do it as we are not insured for that", so get an insurance please!. Anyway the rooms were okay, quite big, but not very Grand or something...Seems the GM or owner is an eccentric as the rooms have no numbers but names only, in German, so good look to you non-german speakers finding your room. The shower plays "Raindrops falling on my head" in an endless loop, which is funny the first time, but after taking a few showers its only annoying. At least keep you from showering too long and so the water bill low...The breakfast is standard, lets say it fills the belly. All in All its all about location for this hotel, nothing special, but German Hotels are always a little less Grand. Still dont know why they call it a Grand-Hotel, nothing Grand about it.

We rely heavily on trip advisor reviews to choose our accommodations and usually are very satisfied. However this hotel did not live up to its reviews for us, so I thought it necessary to write this, to assist others make a more informed decision.

We chose Grand Hotel Mussmann for an overnight stay between train trips. Location was great, as just opposite the station, and it is close enough to restaurants.

However, apart from that, we were quite disappointed.

Their website (and also an actual sign in the room) suggests wifi is available. However, wifi is only available in the lobby downstairs, which is not really a place one would wish to sit in and pay usage costs for (If I am going to pay for wifi, one would expect this to be in-room)

We had also wanted to print some documents. There is no business center, only a phone booth downstairs which had a computer which was not connecting to the internet. Staff were quite rude when asked to assist with this and treated us as though we were stupid foreigners, even though the problem was found to be in their own setup. Laughing at customers behind their back (we saw this via a mirror) is very poor customer treatment and has not endeared us to the hotel at all.

Our room was furnished very unimaginatively, with uncomfortable ‘office furniture’ in the living room. Shabby and outdated curtains, no tea/coffee facilities at all. Basically lacking ambience and general traveler comforts. So not sure why there are so many rave reviews here?

Whilst the hotel tries to offer some gimmicky things like shower music and lights and other entertainment, the ‘in mirror’ operation panel was not working at all, so we had to listen to the same piece of classical music the whole time. Seems like someone put all these features in at some stage but then did not decide to maintain them.

We have stayed at many lovely hotels in our lifetime, but the Grand Hotel Mussmann was definitely not one of them.

Not value for money here.

The**** hotel promises luxury, big rooms, leather, marble etc. the first surprise, when you arrive is a reception in a very narrow and totally empty place for not more than 2 people. But what I've got is an uncleaned and cold room at 20:00. When I went back to the receptionist, he asked me: What to do? Later I got a much smaller room for the same proce (over 200 euro), still cold. I asked about heating, he said: you have to ask for it it isn't automatic (temperature was 3C at night). So never again!

On a positive note, The Grand Hotel Mussman is in a good, central location. Our room was bright and airy, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good.
However, the air cooling system in our room did not work efficiently, which made sleeping uncomfortable. We raised this issue with the hotel, who informed us that they had reset the system and that there was nothing else they could do.
In addition, there were no coffee or tea making facilities. There was also no in-room information at all - apart from a feedback form and a pen! The issues I have raised could easily have been attended to and would have made all the difference to our stay.
