We were very happy with our stay here. It was just 3 minutes walk from Hauptbahnhof right beside the old city gate Marshiertor. We got a nice welcome at reception. The bathroom was modern and newly renovated with a good shower with sliding door. However the decor in the rooms is a bit dated. The breakfast buffet was great with hot dishes, pancakes, fresh fruit, choice of bread and cold meats, cheese, etc.

Because of train inavailability, we had to cancel our reservation, which we did after 6 p.m., and were released without penalty. As it turned out, we checked in upon arrival in Aachen early the following morning to clean up after traveling by train all night. Tired, we were relieved to see the hotel from the train station, knowing we didn't have far to walk pulling our rolling suitcases.

The staff, fluent in English, was very courteous and accommodating. They allowed us a late check-out (we had planned to visit Aachen for only one half day). They wash, dried and folded our laundry at the hotel for a 10 euro fee.

Our quiet room on the top floor had a foyer, sitting room with contemporary furnishings including a sleeper sofa, a separate bedroom with two twin beds, and a modern bath with shower and included a hair dryer and magnifying mirror. There was a small elevator to the floor.

Breakfast, included in the room price, consisted of a large and delicious selection of eggs, meats, cheeses, fruits, breads, cereals, yogurt, etc. and very good coffee.

After cleaning up and resting we took photos at the town gate next to the hotel, then walked to the town center, just a few blocks away.

Excellent location right across from the train station, and near the Marchertor, a medieval city gate. It's an 8 minute walk to the Dom, Charlemagne's church. Professional staff. Comfortable rooms.

I I was in Aachen and as my trip to Dusseldorf would be early in the morning, i tried booked Ibis Haupbarhouf. And I did it. But when I was going to the hotel, I put Ibis near to train station anf it give me the Marshiertor. I didn't know this when I arrived the hotel.
I showed my booking to the attentend and she tell me that was another, but it was raining and cold. She told me she could book a room there in Marschiertor, because the hotel was almost empty. I agreeed, but told her that I would pay the same value as if was Haupbarholf. She agreed, but put me in a small room, with a cold tilted window... I saw after that they have only few guests.. so, the woman could put me a better room.

I was already there in Marshiertor, a good accomodation in that time..

In this time was depressed.

On Bookingcom were promised a king and queen and got a double twin. Rooms are OK size but dated and needing tlc. Clean. We booked for being near the train station. Breakfast was okay.
My pictures show the re state of things. Our room had a long hallway with old red carpet so when I saw plastic on the pillows I thought " oh no!". Turned out to be a tiny packet of cheap haribo lollies a bit insulting really. Dangerous steps at night in hallway to bath. TV on desk so bad angle to view. No air conditioning. Promised a heritage view but got dirty rooves instead Have a look at the pics.

Best location, near from the center and the main railway station.very good rooms , clean and tidy, very good breakfast with large variety of food and drinks, i really enjoyed my stay at this hotel.
All the photos and information about the hotel which is purchased in the booking.com are real and may be I found the hotel better than what I saw in the pictures which are published in the website.
This hotel deserves 4stars not only 3.

Spent two nights at this hotel. We were very satisfied with both the room and the service provided. We were met by nice, polite and friendly stuff. Breakfast was great too. we were lucky to get a room with a view of the old cityport Marschiertor.
The location is very handy very close to the main train station and also just a few minutes walk from the city center and Aachen dom.

The hotel is only about 10min away from the old town and only stones throw away from the station. The hotel is slightly dated, but it was spotlessly clean. The pillows we slightly too soft for my liking but this might only be personal choice. Breakfast offered excellent selection of hot and cold food and hotel represents outstanding value for money. We drove to Germany and the receptionist helped us out with parking just in front of the hotel only for 5 euros a day which is excellent compared to the costs of local parking.

Stayed for two nights and hotel was convenient and comfortable. The location is ideal for train station and city centre. I didn't try and of the food but the restaurant looked pleasant enough. Room was free of damp/smells etc and facilities all worked fine and appear well maintained. The only thing letting this hotel down is its dated decor. It's not tired, just dated. Other than that it's worth a look.

"Rooms to the back are quieter. Though all rooms have effective double glazing to keep out street noise, revellers outside and passing traffic could disturb your sleep if you prefer to sleep with open windows. Note that this is hotel is a conversion of two houses from the 1950s, and it has been modernised to 21st century standard. Rooms are individual, some are larger, some smaller, some more recently refurbished. Wifi costs 1€ per day."
