Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Budget hotel above parking and very close to the city centre. Check-in outside office hours via computer at entrace without problems. Room is modern, basic and clean. Excellent shower. Ideal location for exploring Aachen by foot. Reduced attractive rate for parking on 24 hrs basis so even far into next day.

we stayed in Aachen for 4 days the hotel its self its is very close to the town centre. the wifi was so weak you could hardly get anything to connect ,our room was not cleaned very often the bin was not emptied for at least 2 days of our stay. the staff wore jeans and hoodies so you could not tell if they were staff or just people staying there. the breakfast was very nice and worth the money. overall not has good as what i expected from ibis budget.

As the name already indicates, it's a budget hotel, so we had low expectations.
Pros: location, automatic check-in, shower cabine (like in a spaceship movie), and the price
Cons: one flat pillow, to borrow a hair dryer a deposit of 20 euro cash is needed (during reception hours)

FYI, the entrance of the hotel is not at the street side (entrance of parking), but at the inner court

Grime on floor, surfaces unsanitary. Noisy location facing busy street, lots of road noise and emergency vehicles with sirens through most of the night. Receiption not staffed in the evening despite announcement it would be. Soul-less budget hotel.

Booked and paid for over a month in advance. Arrived with 1 child and small dog as per reservation. Booked in on arrival fine, told fully paid for. Friendly. Room had no bedding for my son. Told we should have prebooked....strange when we booked in Oct. Had to wait until next day for a quilt. Manager stopped us on our way out and accused me of avoiding paying for dog. He was aggressive and rude. I tried to make a complaint on how he spoke to us and humiliated us in front of my son and other guests, the response was'i don't care, u must pay'. We agreed to pay the next morning. But, on return from a lovely evening at Xmas market he shouted 'u must pay' as we walked into the hotel at 9 pm, in front of several other guests. I was in tears, he said he didn't care he was the owner manager and I have a dog so pay. Despite explaining we never refused or avoided to pay but did not like his obvious discrimination towards us for being English and lack of basic customer service. I will never stay at any ibis again, he ruined my 4 nights in Aachen for my family.

When we entered the room, the first thing I noticed was the smell of dried up urine. When I walked to the window, I noticed my shoes were sticking to the floor. Half of the room was sticky because of the dried up urine. When I told the front desk, she mentioned that she cannot do anything about it. There is no cleaning and changing of room offered.

Risky place to stay, depends largely on automation, and when the automation doesn't work (as sooner or later always happens in life) the hotel and staff just can't or won't help.
Check out was at 12:00, so we arrived at 11:00. Lo and behold the door code no longer worked.
So we went down to reception where a slight figured man was cleaning and whatnot. My wife explained the problem and he said it wasn't his job and to phone the company. We went back upstairs to look for a number. No one answered at the one we had. So we went back down and explained.
We saw there was a cleaning cart set up and asked the man to connect us with the cleaning staff as they logically had access to the rooms.
The little man refused (not his job) and literally slammed the door in my wife's face (seriously).

Another guest came out to help and found another number to call and finally we got through to a person, who came and opened the door. As we were finally leaving the room we saw the little man leaving the room next to ours - the whole time he had a key or some means of access but just refused to help.
In summary dealing with all this took the better part of an hour and we missed our train out of Germany and had to buy more tickets to another train. Any savings for the budget priced room were more than compensated by this additional cost, not to mention stress etc when supposed to be enjoying Christmas holiday. What if a person were locked out and needed medicine that were inside?

I left out sometimes they cleaned, sometimes they didn't, sometimes the bed had covering for one sometimes for two.
Thanks Ibis budget, thanks little man, merry Christmas.

We decided to go budget since were sure that a low price does not mean a bad quality and a terrible service, especially in Germany, where everything is about quality. In the morning the nightmare started. Since we had no breakfast included, we just decided to grab a coffee. I went downstairs with my credit card and asked for a coffee, but was told they do not accept cards. I said ok, I will bring some cash, on what they replied that I had to do that immediately. I said we were planning to check out in an hour anyway, so would pay while doing that if ok. The guy said ok, but do that before 1100, otherwise we would be closing the kitchen. Was a very weird arrangement for me, but ok. Grabbed a coffee, went back to the room and started packing. After half an hour we were ready to go, to pay that coffee, to check-out and to leave our bags at the reception since the train was late in the evening, so we had plenty of time to enjoy. Opened the door of the room and saw the corridor full of mess, toilet paper rolling around and towels on the floor in the common area!! A terrible view, never seen any hotel cleaning their rooms this way!!! Anyway, took a while to go through that mess with our luggage before we reached the elevator, which we had to wait a bit for unknown reason. As a result we were downstairs 11:05, being absolutely sure we would pay that coffee, leave our luggage and go. The kitchen area, which is strangely combined with their reception area was locked, THE guy was cleaning inside (no looking German, more eastern face), but since they had glass doors he could perfectly see us standing outside and knocking the door. Complete ignore!! Not even a sign! After a while turned around and started shouting, saying it was closed, go away, I said 11:00! I said do not shout at me, I want to pay, leave the luggage and go. He kept shouting I said to come before 11:00. I was trying to explain but he did not even listen. I said ok, where could we leave our luggage, on what he said he did not care, too late, go away. I was literally shocked. Not letting me pay, neither leaving the luggage he turned around and kept cleaning. I asked for a manager, on which he shouted he was the one, so go away. We had no other choice than to leave and look for a place for our luggage, which was a great luck in Novotel hotel just on the corner, a super polite stuff, whom I explained what happened and they took care of our stuff till the eve. Never go there guys, for them cheap is cheap

This hotel really is budget, although the room was clean and tidy, the mattress was not comfortable and the next day the only thing replaced was towels, bedsheets was not changed. It has a convenient location in town. The breakfast is definitely not worth it, better off eating from a cafe it only offers toast yoghurts one type of cold sliced meat and cheese. Glad I wasn't staying longer than two nights and if you misplace your code for the door then good luck with that!

Clean and basic hotel. Compact room with separate toilet and shower and washbasin in room. Location is near bus station in town Centre. For a short stay, if you only plan to sleep in your room it is ok. Would I book here again? Because of the price, maybe. If there's an alternative with some atmosphere/character probably not..
