Where else to stay when the Christmas Market in Aachen is on?
The location is excellent, and the price is reasonable.

Unfortunately, there is only access to the rooms by stairs, so if you have trouble with luggage and stairs this hotel is not for you.
The staff will however help with the luggage if needed.

Another minus is that the breakfast restaurant is temporarily closed, for several reasons. Fortunately, there are several really good options withn 2 minutes walking distance.

The room (33) itself was spacious, and I believe I had one of the smaller rooms. A metal framed double bed, a sturdy desk and a old fashioned wardrobe. Spartan, but more than enough for me.
The bathroom was done in a modern style with white tiles.
Everything was clean.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Note that the front desk is only manned during the day.

If you're exploring central Aachen, this hotel is right where you want to be. The price is reasonable, the rooms are comfortable and good-sized (if perhaps a bit spartan) and clean. I thought the staff was friendly and helpful.

But! My room on the fourth floor involved climbing 70+ stairs every time I came and went (and hauling my bag up and down when I checked in and out). While it was probably quieter being higher above the street, nocturnal party animals in the town square shouting sing-songy beer-fueled anthems into the wee hours made sleep challenging sometimes. Also, wifi was iffy and there were no safes in rooms.

A very friendly welcome and allowed to check in a couple of hours early. Sparkling clean and comfortable room. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. They don’t have a breakfast option which would have it made it perfect but next door is a restaurant which offers a fantastic deal on unlimited continental and British breakfasts. You just pay for extra coffee.

Very unfriendly staff, especially the owner. Breakfast was very basic, things weren't filled up when empty. There was no staff at breakfast to check and ask if you need anything. Milk for your coffee, if it was empty you had to ask the table next to you if you could borrow theirs. Disgraceful. Not the service and hospitality I'm used to for German standards. I have been to lots of German hotels over the years, and I was always impressed with the friendly approach from staff and the food, and the fact that you were never short of anything. We even had to ask for toiletpaper because they didn't give us new rolls. My boyfriend has a bowel disease so this was really really bad for him. Being with a group of 35 people, it seemed like they couldn't handle serving diner. At a table of four let's say, two had their meals, the other two had to wait for 15 mins. One day, everyone else had their meals and I had to wait for 25 mins😠
If you don't like to be hospitable, and like to make sure that your guest feel at home, don't run a hotel at all!!! NEVER AGAIN

I stayed at this hotel for two nights during the festive season. The location is simply amazing, as you're close to all touristic sites. The train station is within walking distance as well. The rooms are large but a bit cold. The breakfast is OK. The service was very warm.

Location in the center of the town near the Marktplatz and the Cathedral is good. The hotel is small and family-operated. It is located over four floors with a small lift that is easily interrupted by a safety screen. The rooms are quite spacious and have "homely" rather than typical functional decoration. The beds are not comfortable and narrow with cheap foam pillows. Breakfast was good but the room too cold, so take your coat with you unless you prefer that.

Location is amazing! I think the best in whole Aachen, we used to live near and during our move we stayed here for a week. The owner was really nice and gave us one of the biggest rooms. We had view of the Rathaus. It gets a bit loud in the summer because of the bars under it. But you shouldn't be in your room when you can enjoy the night out with Happy Hours left and right and you don't have to worry about driving since everything is walking distance! We left early in the morning, we drove our car right up the entrance and loaded it. Very easy.
It's a bit pricy though.

Really good location. Right in the centre of everything. Reasonable price for location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast with a good continental choice
A bit noisy at night from the town revelry
Great shops, bars and restaurants right by the hotel
Finding the hotel and parking is trying to say the least especially with the heavy traffic during the day
Would definitely stay here again

A great little hotel.
Wonderfully situated at the heart of Aachen's old town.
Light and bright fresh décor.
Fabulous breakfast.
The family and staff are all extremely welcoming and friendly.
Only one drawback - the beds are very very low. My wife has a bad knee and I am recovering from a knee operation. We both had great difficulty getting out of the bed.
In fact my wife slept in a chair for two of our four nights.
IF low beds do not trouble you I would definitely recommend this Hotel.

This nice hotel is really well located, in front of the Rathaus and 2 minutes walking from the cathedral. Each morning you can have a rich breakfast served by the nice service staff of the hotel. Moreover the room/main reception where you eat it has a beautiful view to the "skyline" of Aachen.

Probably the rooms with the best view of Marktplatz, are at the last floors.

We stayed during November, so this was not an issue. The windows were tall and opened by swinging out. There were no screens. The heat in the room worked fine but I do not recall if there were AC controls. Sorry.
