Stayed in the Dorint Venusberg for a weekend.
Location about 4 km by car from Bonn City Center. From the terrace there is a wonderful view to the city and the surrounding hills, nice location to relax after a busy day. A car is recommended, it is too far outside to walk into the city, I believe public transport is available.
Easy check Inn and Check Out.
The rooms were fine, nice bathroom, everything was clean. Minibar was empty in both rooms.
Good breakfast with a lot of choices.
Would recommend this hotel for all travellers, even though it is a bit out of the center and you will need transport to get anywhere.

Not the easiest place to find, but nicely situated in a quiet location outside of the main city area, with plenty of parking space.

Friendly welcome at reception and easy check-in. Room was large and very clean. A lovely shower with plenty of water pressure.

There was no bar service the night we stayed, but it was possible to get a drink with dinner. Food was good, but service rather slow.... very long delay between first and main courses and prices rather on the high side. Skipped breakfast, as it's hard to imagine what can justify a charge of 24euro a head to partake.

Overall a good stay though, with friendly service and a good night's sleep.

Nice hotel with a very good breakfast buffet. The location of the hotel is a plus too.
But the fact that we had to wait more than 2 hours in order to access our room was a big no no. And, except a simple apology nothing was made to help us forget this incident or make our stay more comfortable.
The cleaniness of the room, especially the bathroom was not done properly either. The bathtub was always brownish, never white and you could feel the dirt with your feet.

Hotel is located in a quiet forest area, a 20 minute busride to the city center. Busstop about a 5 minute walk from the hotel, runs every 30 minutes even on weekends.

We travelled with a group of 8 people and had different rooms, amongst them junior suites, single rooms and standard rooms. The suites were well equipped, with large bathroom and 'salon'. One suite however did not have a TV in the bedroom only the salon, the other suite did have 2 TV's. Single rooms were attic rooms, quite small, dark and not very attractive. Pillows were plenty and thick, mattress however to hard for my liking.

Although the hotel tablet mentioned all rooms were equipped with a (free of service) coffee and tea bar, only the suites had one as told by the receptionist.

False advertising and the solution offered by reception was to ask for hot water from the hotel bar, which by the way was not open the entire weekend. Closed on Friday evening and reserved for a private party on Saturday. Unacceptable; all paying hotel guests should have access to the displayed facilities.

The Basilico hotel restaurant is another one for the books. Terrible service, had to wait about an hour to get our meal with only 2 other tables in the restaurant. Price/quality the worst I've seen in a long time. Most of us left the table hungry, but no surprise when there's only 3 baby potatoes on your plate, cut in half to make your plate look full ...

On the upside, breakfast buffet was quite nice. Good variety of meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, yoghurt, lachs, meatballs, eggs, etc. Previously they had a hot station where eggs were made 'à la minute', but probably cancelled now because of covid.

Bathroom was equipped with a bathtub and shower in one. Only had 1 large towel and smelled horrible, but housekeeping in the hallway solved this very quickly and extremely friendly. Incomprehensible that none of the 5 rooms we've stayed in had hot water in the shower/bath, it was lukewarm at best whether morning or evening.

Don't count on the WIFI either, very unreliable.

Overall, I've stayed in hotels of the Dorint chain before with less stars but far better service, better rooms and most of all, better food price/qualitywise.

The website information was incorrect. They don't have a pool and they don't have a gym. There are no amenities aside from the room and the breakfast buffet. It's a hard place to get to through public transit. It is not worth the price. Hotel looks old when you arrive. Not a good arrival experience

I arrived later a night and wanted to get into the garage. No ticket, no intercom, but I had to get out of the car walk to a 20 year old press button phone for a concierge to open after a dozen rings.

Interior some horrible mix of end 80s/90s design.

Air-condition and climate controls did not work in my room, dials and functionality as dusted as the phone

blankets, the german nightmare. I booked a kingsize bed and get two blankets that hardly cover a a grown person properly. they are thick, short synthetic blankest that are way too hot and still you are not covered. i guess they assume that you dont move in your sleep. probably some people never wake up after sleeping there.

breakfast buns seemed to be a day old from some mass production super market bakery. there is absolutely no reason to get bad tasing bread in germany, that should be a german forte.

i got so annoyed that i left day early and settled for a new hotel in bonn that fully met expectations.

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your detailed feedback. We are grateful that you pointed out the experiences you made. So that we have the chance to put them off in a timely manner. For 2019, some innovations are planned. For example, the telephone in the garage will be replaced by a modern parking barrier system. We are really sad about that you have not agreed to our interior design, but we are a classic style hotel. Since many guests decline blankets and pillows made out of down filling for health and ethical reasons we decided to have good synthetic stuffed pillows and blankets. Our comforters meet the highest hygienic standards and are washable. The duvet cover is 100% best organic cotton. Our bread rolls are delivered fresh, every day from a traditional crafts bakery. We greatly regret that your stay was not to your satisfaction and wish you all the best for your next travels. With best regards from Bonn Marko Markovic and Team.

I'll start with the good: the views from up here over Bonn and the Rhine Valley, particularly from the restaurant's terrace, are fantastic. What an oasis!
The rooms are nice enough, too. Perfectly fine but nothing too special. What always strikes me is how understaffed the hotel seems. I've never seen more than one staff at the reception desk who handles all check-ins, check-outs, and calls. This results in wait times that are much longer than they should be. We paid about $100 for a room with breakfast - can't complain. But I wouldn't want to pay more than that, to be honest.

Very nice hotel in great location - if you have a car (parking is free). Very quiet amids woodlands, with rooms in excellent condition. 3-nights-for-2 made it affordable, too.

Let down by ‘auxiliaries’, such as 20-Euro breakfast, or 15-Euro per day Internet access charge. Internet furthermore was very much hit-and-miss (it took between 1 and 15 minutes to connect, and connections dropped unpredictably – even though there seemed to be sufficient signal strength). The hotel are aware of the poor IT access, but instead of going for a new provider they seem minded to sit it out (apparently, their contract with provider M3 runs for another two years – not encouraging for business travellers).

===
P.S. added after original submission: M3 gave a full refund - very decent indeed.
Still - if you depend on IT access, this may be a concern.

I spent 3 days at the Dorint Venusberg in Bonn in early April with my family. It was a very quiet time just before Easter, so the hotel was very empty.
This was probably the reason for the abandoned feel of the downstairs spa. The jacuzzi-sozed pool was cold and the sauna switched off.
The rooms however (we stayed in a luxury double with river views) are bright and airy with tasteful if somewhat conservative furnishings in light wood. In contrast to the nice rooms, service- and equipment levels feel more 4- than 5 star.
The hotel is situated in the middle of a forest on a hillcrest above the Rhine valley with some views of the city of Bonn below through the trees. Matching this setting, the hotel's decor follows a subtle country house theme. The hotel's restaurant has achieved a Michelin star and is definitely worth going to for dinner, being Bonn's best restaurant. Having breakfast or dinner outside on the terrace in the summer is beautiful. Parking is free. In fact, I would not recommend staying at the hotel without a car,
The main reasons for staying here then are the secluded location away from the city. In the summer, when the Rhine valley can become very warm and humid, the shady hilltop location also provides relief.

The hotel is located out-of-town uphill in a wooded area. It's a nice place for reflection without the noise of the city nearby. The room was comfortable and the staff helpful. The breakfast was average but the restaurant for lunch offers imaginative options, although don't expect a generous helping to eat. Still, it can be monotonous eating in the same place day after day and there are not many alternatives within walking distance. There is however an Italian restaurant, Terra Rosa, about 15 minutes walk away which offers good food and friendly service. Otherwise access to the city is by taxi or by taking a bus from the main road - the nearest bus stop is about 10 minutes distant walking but that's not so great if it's raining, which it was when I was there!
