What a gem of a place this is. Absolutely beautiful. Yurts fully equipped with everything you need. As a group of girls it was so lovely to just kick back and enjoy the amazing surroundings and catch up. Beautiful walks from the site. Went to the local farm shop (who were lovely and kept the shop open so we could buy stuff for our bbq!) The whole site is spotless down to the bathrooms and kitchen. All the complementary drinks biscuits in the kitchen were very much appreciated. Everything has been so well thought out. Yoga class was a real bonus and just the tonic to round off the weekend. Thank you to Vicky for sorting this. Local roast at the Ring O Bells was superb! Couldn’t fault food or service. Honestly this was a superb weekend. Would recommend to anyone visiting. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your glowing review. So kind of you to take the time to write. We love hearing about your lovely girls weekend - it sounds perfect. Brilliant you went to the pub and farm shop - both within walking distance and loved the yurts. Hope we can welcome you all again in the cottages next time as it is the last season with the yurts.

This was a second visit for me to The Orchard Retreat. The first time was with my husband and our dog Bertie but this time I came with 6 friends for 3 nights in 2 yurts and again had the most fantastic time. Vicky and Nick have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible and nothing is too much trouble. The yurts are fantastic and so cosy even on a cold April night as they are all equipped with a log burner. The facilities are second to none and everything is absolutely spotless. It’s such a great place for groups of friends or families to spend holidays together or equally is a lovely romantic getaway for 2😊 We also booked a yoga class on site for all of us on Sunday morning which Vicky organised for us which was fantastic. If you’re looking for a Sunday roast you must try The Ring of Bells. It’s probably one of the best roasts I’ve had and I’m not easy to please when it comes to roast dinners! Make sure you book in advance though or else you’ll be disappointed. We didn’t use the car once when we were there. We went for a lovely walk which ended with us buying bbq supplies from the local farm shop and when we got back Nick had set the bbq up for us as we had mentioned to him we were having one when we left for our walk. I honestly can’t say anything negative about this place and it’s obvious Vicky and Nick are very passionate about what they do. Give it a try you won’t regret it!

Thank you so much for your detailed review Amanda. It sounds like the perfect weekend with your friends. So lovely you enjoyed the local area and the pub and farm shop without having to venture too far. We do have so much on our doorstep and on site which works so well. Hopefully we will see you all again - maybe the cottages next time.

We had an incredibly relaxing long weekend here in January. The cottage was absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean. The surroundings are very quiet and the quaint little village is only a ten minute walk away. We will definitely be looking to stay here again in future.

We have just returned from an absolutely fabulous 3 night stay in the Russet yurt and cannot recommend The Orchard Retreat highly enough - a little piece of holiday paradise with our 6, 4 and 1 year old children. Vicky, Nick and Maddy made us feel so welcome and relaxed from the moment we arrived (despite our 4 year old announcing our arrival by being car-sick in the courtyard!) and had even taken in (and put away!) a Sainsburys delivery that arrived before we did. The yurts are surprisingly spacious and very well set up - Vicky and Nick have honestly thought of everything (including some fantastic rechargeable lanterns). The girls quickly made “holiday friends” from the other yurts, and the whole site is just the perfect size and design to let them run around freely totally safe. The play area and treehouse are brilliantly designed and we could keep an eye on the kids from the veranda of the Facilities Lodge with a cold drink in hand. We LOVED the outdoor tubhouse - both the baths and the shower - but also appreciated each yurt having its own indoor shower and toilet in the Facilities Lodge - perfect combination. We hired the pizza oven on our first evening, which was great fun, and had an excellent meal at the Ring of Bells another evening (do book in advance as it is deservedly very popular!). The older two children cried about leaving and we will certainly be back!

Thank you so much for your wonderful review, we are so pleased you had such a lovely stay and your girls loved it. Maddy really enjoyed playing with them and it is so nice to hear you found the yurts to be spacious and had everything you needed for a lovely family stay. The pizza oven is such a fun option and our local put is definitely worth a visit, so it is great you had the chance for a meal there as well. We hope to welcome you all again soon.

Me and my family came to The Orchard Retreat for a weeks holiday in the Cider Barn. When we arrived, we were greeted by the wonderful Nick, who told us to settle in, the he'd come and check on us the next day. As you enter the Cider Barn, you are met with a comfortable, clean atmosphere. My room was the one upstairs, and it is spacious and cosy. It feels like you're own apartment, with its en-suite bathroom and double bed. I would recommend keeping the bathroom and ceiling blinds closed as there are some dead flies in the window, which occasionally fall on the bed and on the bathroom floor. But this is a minor inconvenience. The outdoor facilities are nice, with Honesty Shop and Games Room with pool table, this is a great additional feature. I must add, as a member of the Neurodiverse community, I enjoyed the peace and quiet of The Orchard Retreat and would recommend to any families who want a nice holiday without any stress or anxiety. Thanks Nick, Vicky, Maddy and the two dogs for our stay and I look forward to coming again soon

Thank you Thomas, what a lovely review - we are so pleased you found the cottage to be comfortable, cosy and clean. It is lovely to hear that you found the upstairs room like your own spacious apartment - we think it is a great room to relax in, due to the comfy bed, sofa and bathroom suite. We are so sorry to hear about the occasional fly - but glad you found a solution to keeping them at bay and they didn't cause you too much trouble. Phew. We are delighted that you enjoyed the outdoor facilities as well - especially the games room. It really is a lovely space to hang out in. Finally, we are so happy to hear that you found the cottage and site peaceful so that you could relax and feel stress free. It is not the first time we have heard that from a member of the Nuerodiverse community, so we are pleased you felt the same way. We would love to welcome you all again and thanks again for taking the time to write about your stay.

We had a fab week here last week. Such a great location for glamping and such a well thought out site. Lots to do locally (especially if you are prepared to travel 50 mins or so). We went to the beach, and would also recommend Lydford Gorge. The yurts at Orchard Retreat are so cosy and comfortable, everything you need is provided. The private bathroom is just a short walk. Highly recommend, even if you are not the glamping or camping type!

Thank you so much for your review. It is so lovely to hear you loved the site and the yurts - thank you. Mid Devon and our site, does make for such a good base for exploring Devon. Like you say, with a bit of driving, you can visit the coast and moors easily. Then retreat back to the site and the comfort of your yurt. We loved meeting you all and would love to welcome you again one day.
