The Karuna detox week has been amazing. I visited with my husband, who had never been to a retreat or juice fasted before.
We had a very comfortable cottage , cosy and warm, and our detox went extremely well. Sho is a fantastic host, who runs the course from her heart and her own experiences, and she has incredible energy . She starts the day with a fabulous yoga class, then we have our first juice, and optional treatments and then another juice, a walk, some down time and meditation . The group dynamic was peaceful and friendly and the talks interesting and insightful. We will take away a greater knowledge of healthy living and truly detoxed! I can recommend having a few therapies, of which shiatzu was my favourite. We will be spreading the word and returning again someday. Thankyou Karuna!

Just coming to the end of my second stay at KARUNA detox retreat.. I had the most amazing time feeling fully nourished and cleansed.
Spent the week fasting with juices, doing yoga, meditation, listening to some very eye opening and informative nutrition talks and did some lovely walks in the near by woodlands..
The accommodation was warm and clean and the team are great. Sho is so knowledgeable and has such great vibrant energy and Kathy the lovely lady preparing the juices also prepared 3 beautiful raw food meals for us to break our fast with.
It’s like giving your body a full MOT
AS A RESULT - My skin is so clear and I’m half a stone lighter!

It’s hard to put in to words what this retreat has done for me. Life changing is a good start to how I would describe the week I spent at Karuna Detox. I purposely chose to spend my 50th birthday at Karuna and it was the best decision. Incredible meditation sessions which suit all from beginners to well practiced meditators. Yoga is the same, subtle but so powerful and for all levels of experience. The therapies are among the best I’ve ever experienced and I’ve had many. The cooking demo by the beautiful Donna is outstanding and you definitely need to take a notebook and pen for this because what she doesn’t no about healthy food and recipes is probably not worth knowing and you’ll come away with pages of useful everyday kitchen tips for the whole family. I certainly did. I can’t wait to get home and get making healthy food for me and my son. I’m saving the best bit till last, the founder and lead facility Sho is clearly top of her game with her wealth of knowledge on how to safely cleanse the kidneys and colon with her perfectly organised detox juices broth and supplements. I only did water but took great pleasure in witnessing the rest of the groups satisfaction with their tasty fresh nourishing juices. Her nutritional talks are so informative and the way she explains the working of the digestive system and overeating and the strain this puts on the body is captivating. She talks with passion and knowledge backed up by years of her personal experience with medical issues and diet. Sho shows you how to trust your body’s natural detoxing process in a way which makes so much sense. She loves to bring a little humour in to the retreat which is welcomed when dealing with personal detox. She also gives plenty of time for quiet alone. Organised walks were just right for our detoxing and the scenery is beautiful. the colonic irrigation’s play a big part in the detox and they were easy and I got to the point where I looked forward to them. I can’t recommend this retreat enough. Go there on your own, with a friend or partner and you will leave with more than you imagined. Sho and her team are magnificent!!

I spent a week at this amazing detox retreat in March 2020 just before the Covid 19 restrictions. I have to say I did not know what to expect but was really looking forward to spending some time to myself. I am 67 and have led a very busy life. From the moment I arrived and was welcomed by Sho and her team I felt part of a little family of like minded and lovely people. The juice diet was easy and strangely I didn't feel hungry once. I loved the yoga, meditation, swimming, walks, talks. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. I must particularly emphasise the incredible treatments on offer which were given by truly first class professionals - Paul in particular helped clear a problem I have had in my abdomen for years and that alone was worth every penny! Twice daily colonics can only be described as an ''experience'' but in the end I almost enjoyed them!! I will be returning next year and hopefully be bringing my dear husband with me. Thank you Sho and the team for all you do so well. See you next year. Namaste. Jeni Jebb x

This week long detox programme was just what I needed to take a real break from everything. There is so much support and structure in the daily programme and a real camaraderie amongst the group that the liquid fasting is not that difficult. Wonderful daily yoga, very interesting and informative talks, therapeutic treatments, nature walks in the Devon countryside and very comfortable accomodation.
I finished the week with improved health, losing weight and a more positive attitude to my life.

The perfect antidote to my current life! Honestly Sho and her team have thought of everything to squeeze every last drop of wellness out of this week.

I arrived absolutely exhausted and burnt out, after 7 days I had caught up on my sleep and I had meditated and yoga-ed my way to complete rejuvenation. I booked my return visit immediately after leaving!

I have managed to maintain many of the practices Sho introduced us to, I will make a couple of changes this time so I can absolutely get the most out of the week. I will cut down on caffeine before I go as the withdrawal from that was a bit testing and I suspect I will fast the two or three days before going so I can get there with a running start.

I was shielding, living alone and struggling. The connection and community that came with our regular, deep, yoga practice supported me through the isolation.
I didn't really get yoga until I practiced with Sho on a Karuna Detox retreat. I finally understood that, rather than being a slightly unsatisfactory fitness class, yoga was a unique opportunity to connect with my body both physically and energetically. I think the heightened awareness that comes with juice fasting and detoxing helped me to learn about and experience the way that yoga and meditation can support and nourish me in difficult times.
I am so grateful that I have had the chance to practice with Sho and this intimate sangha since lockdown began. Practicing together and communicating authentically with each other has held me through these difficult times.

Beautiful setting, great supportive staff, lovely room. Loved the gentle yoga in the morning and the extra healing sessions I booked when there. Great to have a pool and sauna. Everyone on our retreat is lovely which made it an overall good experience.

A week at Karuna Detox is, by far, the greatest gift you can ever give yourself! It is completely life changing in ways you would never think possible. I feel truly amazing in mind, body and soul. With a lighter, healthier body and a lighter, unburdened mind, life really feels full of wonder, potential and abundance. I am 20 years younger!
Thank you to Sho, Donna and team for your expert guidance and an exquisite experience.
I’ll be back 🙏

Not a lot has changed since I last came here in 2010..but that's a good thing!

If anything the detox was slightly easier (don't be fooled by the word easy) in as much as this time around the detoxers all received a tasty bouillon type broth of an evening which nicely took the edge away from the hunger.

The staff/support system are very good as are the educational talks complete with handouts to aid you back in the outside world. The accommodation (farmhouse type cottages) are very nice & I certainly recommend one with an en-suite bathroom.

All in all a very enjoyable experience and the raw food feast at the end of the week is well worth the wait!

I will be back!
