Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here for one night on an extended drive back from Switzerland to Dunkirk for the ferry. Stayed in Trier before but much further out from city and wanted to be within walking distance this time. We are all in our sixties and the walk into town is an easy downhill 20 minutes NOT 35 ! However the walk back is uphill so be sensible take a cab back for about 10/12 euros. This is a low cost hotel and you get what you pay for, a decent, clean room and a good breakfast - cannot fault it for the money, it is set on a hillside above the river and is very quiet with plenty of free parking.Breakfast is typically continental, cold meats, cheeses, breads etc - what is nice however is the provision of "doggy bags" and you are invited to take food away with you for your journey, picnic etc. We got back to hotel around 10.30 and the bar was closed but there is a separate lounge area with a vending machine that dispenses cheap bottles of beer and wine.

Stayed here with 11 motorcycle friends & we were all very impressed. The staff were very friendly & helpful, breakfast though modest, had everything we needed, the rooms were clean & the hotel well maintained. As it is set in the woods just outside Trier it was lovely & peaceful & has a large outdoor seating area which is perfect in these Covid-19 days. We have to give a shout out to our waitress, Anna, who was delightful & very attentive to a large group on a busy evening. Only one negative as far as I am concerned...it says a 30 minute walk which it may well be going down the steep hill to Trier but I am guessing its more of a slog on the way back!

The hotel meets all criteria for a pleasant stay, with comfortable beds, good breakfast and very friendly staff. Upon check-out we ran a bit later than the 11am deadline, but the reception person was totally cool about it. The rooms are clean, bathroom is properly equipped and the staff are very helpful in terms of pointing tourists to various attractions.

The hotel room was basic and the floor uncleaned (breadcrumbs, hair etc.) when we arrived. Asking it to be cleaned took two attempts before it finally happened. The shower had some black spots on the joints between the tiles that I don’t want so speculate about.
The breakfast was classic and offered a standard variety of cereals, bread and further. Unfortunately, it was clearly visible that at least the cucumbers must have been pre-cut (completely dried surfaces).

All in all, this might have been a great place in the past, but currently especially the cleanliness and customer service are below standard.

They arrive, you hand them teir key cards, if only one for the double booked for 2 nights. And the you leave them to their own devices. No room numbers on any of the doors leading into assorted buildings, nor in the hallways, no instructions which door to use after the reception has been abadoned for the night, no making of beds or cleaning of the sink, and just a joke that putting a towel on the floor will get it exchanged. Nope. Leave it lying around all day, damp. Guests are such a bother.

The English translation of the name of this hotel is “City Forest.” This describes the location, which is on the hill across the river from the center of Trier and in a wooded area. Our two-bedroom unit was especially nice because it was in a secluded area, separate from the main building. We used a taxi to get from the train station to the hotel, and later we walked from the hotel to the sights in Trier. This walk would have taken about 20 minutes if we hadn’t frequently stopped to take photos of the town and the Mosel River. The rooms consisted of a large living room with a bed set up in it, a bedroom which my daughters used for the privacy, and a large bathroom. The breakfast was comparable to others that we had during our trip through Western Europe. The apartment was an excellent value for the four of us.

We booked without any recommendations, as we were only on a 3 night stay. We found a warm welcome, a well run establishment with good old fashioned service, great food and customer interest. We are not writing this review just because St Nicholas visited our door with chocolates or that the wine was sold by the glass so we could try various moselle wines or because they encouraged you to take a sandwich for lunch from the excellent fresh buffet breakfast. The cleanliness was tops, with shower glass doors cleaned each day etc. Heating that worked well and windows that opened safely. Trier was also great. Go and try for yourselves it must be even better in the spring or Autumn. Celia

Having booked the hotel in January 2014 we arrived in August only to be told that there had been a problem with the server and there was in fact no room at the inn. A quick call by reception to another hotel and we were gone. The new hotel said that this was always happening. Was this a server error or a policy by the hotel to overbook to ensure maximum capacity and any others send elsewhere. Beware and make your own mind up.

This hotel excels in everything but location unless you arrive by car - the rooms are huge and so well-appointed, the staff is excellent though they were very busy and harried when I arrived so check-in took the better part of 15 minutes. The restaurant makes delicious food and the location is quiet and idyllic - but it is not really "Trier". Especially coming from town, walking over the bridge plus the ascent up the highway to the hotel is not my idea of idyllic, so this is strictly a place you stay with a car or one where you should be prepared to take a taxi to anything in town. It is, otherwise, a beautiful place to stay.

Tried to walk it from the hotel to the center of town on day one but it is somewhat far. After that we had to drive to the center. If you have a car, this would be a good place to stay. Top marks to the attentive staff, except for the fact that we couldn't communicate in English. Thank goodness my partner spoke German!
