Their desk closes at 2000 (8pm) and we realized we weren't going to make it before that time. No problem! The owner and staff were very helpful in sending us a code with detailed instructions on how to get in. We had also booked a parking spot in their garage below the hotel, which we were able to access as well. Small garage but perfect for a normal sized car and very convenient - just read their instructions to make sure your vehicle is not to high for it as it has an electric lift system.

All staff were very friendly, responsive and helpful. Made great recommendations for sights and restaurants. Rooms were nice and plenty of space for us. They're not huge but had everything we need and the hotel is walking distance to the main sites and night life.

Would definitely stay here again!

We booked a komfort room. Was very clean and with simple modern furnishing. It was quiet and the air con worked well which is needed in the heat of August. Slightly annoying that it beeped and flashed when the hotel set timer switched it off automatically after a set period. We weren’t expecting this and it woke us up with a start in the middle of the night.
Unfortunately the garage on site was not able to fit our high car as the hotel has limited parking with high head space. We found a parking nearby in a pay and display place, so not a huge problem. We didn’t eat breakfast in hotel which was probably a mistake as we found the local (nearby hotel) cafes to be not particularly appetising, maybe we just picked the wrong ones. However we did find a great restaurant in walking distance called La Kramerei. You need to book, at least in August.
I can recommend the hotel.

Unprepossessing hotel, 2nd floor of an office type block! Don't be put off by the appearance! It is very central in Trier, minutes walk from everything. We stayed two nights, it is very comfortable and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good and set us up for the day!

This hotel is well situated in the centre of Trier in a side street off the main pedestrian thoroughfare. Staff helpful and did our airline check in for us without charge. Parking of the car was good although your MUST book as parking is limited under the hotel. The cars are park in a lift system which sends two cars underground and parks another two on top. Works well. Easy to miss the entrance to the carpark. We drove round twice as there is no sign visible when travelling in from one direction. Its right on a bend so you have to cross a strem of traffic to enter the car park.
Room was small (363) but clean. Although there is a no smoking rule the room had obviously been a smoking room and still retained the smell. A bottle of liquid air freshener on top of the wardrobe did not do much to make this better. We queried the smell but were told it was not a smoking room. No offer to move us to another a room.
WiFI was hopeless. Kept dropping out and passwords had to be re-entered all the time. Signal very weak. No solution offered when asked.
No coffee or tea making facilities in the room. When we went to ask if we could get a drink we were told there were no facilities. There should be coffee and tea available in reception if not in the room. Not even a machine.
The walls are very thin - you could hear everything going on in the bathroom next door. And I mean everything!
Lift to all floors Breakfast was OK but no hot food apart from a boiled egg however the price was very good and quality if the food good.
A reasonably priced hotel and with a little more care over drinks facilities, WiFI and deep cleaning of room there would be nothing to speak badly of this establishment.

Any time I attend a conference or visit Trier, I stay here. Excellent location situated in the centre with car parking and copious breakfast. Run by the Betz family, the hotel is very well run. Usually busy or even full, you need to book early. Well priced and giod value for money. The staff are very pleasant.

We arrived in Trier early in the day by car, so we parked in a public garage and spent some time sightseeing before checking in. The hotel is located in the main pedestrian/tourist area, although it seemed to be on the edge. After dinner, we walked away from where we'd already been and found ourselves in an area that was less lively and looked a lot less touristy. Still nice, though.

The room was spacious, very clean, and the bathroom was positively enormous by European standards. Windows in both the bedroom and bath were nice, as the weather was cool and the breeze was nice. I don't think the hotel has central air conditioning. The streets stayed fairly lively, so we did hear people all night with the windows open, and then the trash collectors and street sweepers just before dawn (Thursday morning). The bed was comfortable and clean.

We had reserved a spot in their underground garage. The parking is double-decker, accomplished with hydraulic lifts that raise and lower with a key located on a post next to the lifts. It was the first time we'd seen anything like it, but it got nearly twice as many cars into the garage! Parking was very tight, even with the lifts because there were parallel spots marked off along the side walls of the garage that made it very narrow.

We often stop in Trier on our way to and from Austria and in the past have stayed elsewhere, but our usual hotel was closed for holidays, so we stayed here instead. The hotel is very central, within easy walking distance from all the central attractions and the pedestrianised centre. There is usefully an underground garage for the hotel, but I think you need to reserve parking in advance.

The hotel has a really fresh clean atmosphere, and I am sure has been recently decorated. The rooms were comfortable, very clean and both the bedroom and bathroom were a good size, with modern fittings. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming and a plentiful breakfast is served. You can get vouchers to use in one of the central restaurants (a restaurant specialising in potato dishes).

Some other reviews I read about the hotel stated it was difficult to find, but we had no problem, ensuring we were armed with a google map beforehand, which shows all the one -way streets, so this may be something worth considering.

All in all, good value for money and I am sure we will return.

Some friends of mine who live in Trier recommended this hotel. It's very close to the main tourist area, and it was a very convenient location. I had looked on hotels.com to get an idea of the prices for hotels in Trier, and Hotel Aulmann was very competitive. My room was quite spacious, and the shower was great. I am a fairly large person, and some hotels in Germany have very tiny showers. But the shower at this hotel was big enough for me to turn around in without worrying about hitting the water controls with my elbows. It's comforts like this that make Hotel Aulmann well above average in my view.

They have wireless internet for a fee. I bought 1 hour of access, but couldn't figure out how to connect. They gave me a refund.

The breakfast buffet was fairly standard. Rolls, croissants, fruit, yogurt, meats & cheeses, cereal, and hard boiled eggs. Plus coffee, of course.

Overall, I had a great experience during my stay.

The hotel is located in the central (pedestrian) zone of Trier, nearby the main attractions (except the Amphitheatre, which is outside the centre of town, but anyway Trier is quite small...).
My room was quite essential but tidy, the bathroom was spacious for a 3-star hotel and very clean. I could not try the breakfast since I had to leave very early in the morning (but they gave me a small "breakfast box"). The staff is really kind and English speaking.

If arriving by car you need to reserve a place in their underground car park along with your room reservation. The lift runs from the underground car park, or street level, to reception on the second floor. The room was small, functional and clean. It was a warm, humid night with no fan or air-conditioning for relief. The hotel has no internet at all. Breakfast is a typical European choice of cereals, bread, meat, cheese, etc. The only thing to redeem this hotel is it’s location for walking to the old town to see the sights.
