I stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend in August 2004.

The hotel is conveniently located on the square near the Hauptbahnhof (Central Railway station).

Our room and bathroom were very clean, spacious and even pleasant looking. Even though the furnuture and the bathroom fittings were not very modern, the overall impression was very pleasant; the room had some kind of home atmosphere in it.

Personnel was very polite, nice and helpful.

The breakfast was very good (for a 2 star hotel), with muesli, various rolls, buns, cheeses and cold sausages. On the funny side, the dishes were very small, probably the intention is to make sure that guests don't eat everything on the offer. But for such an impudent as myself, this just meant more trips to the table where the buffet was served. :)

The excellent position and great price/quality ratio (we payed about 60 euro for a double room with breakfast) makes this hotel a good accomodation option in a beautiful city of Trier. Will stay again.

Stayed only one night but it was a really lovely little place. Staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to help us and ensure we knew about the area and local things to do.

The included breakfast was great! Probably the best breakfast I've had (as I've been travelling around Europe the past 6 weeks, staying in budget accommodation mind you). It included great German breads, croissants, cheeses, cold meats, smoked salmon, eggs (scrambled & hard boiled), sausages, bacon, yogurt, cereals, lots of types of fruit, vegies such as tomato & cucumber, and a coffee/latte machine. The breakfast was simple but the quality of everything they served was excellent!

Our room was reasonably small although I was there with my parents and their room was larger and more spacious so we probably could've asked to swap to another but it didn't bother us.

Good location - right opposite the train station. Trier is small enough to walk everywhere anyway so we were about 5 minute walk from the Black Gate (Porta Nigra) which is the entrance to the main square.

Wifi was free and we had no problems getting online to use this.

A great hotel - I would recommend!

If you are looking for a trendy modern hotel, this is not the place where you have to be. But if you are looking for a comfortable hotel with very well maintained and very well cleaned rooms close to the center, this is the place to be. But most of all, we enjoyed the very warm and helpfull welcome at the reception: offering a map, info regarding parking spaces, etc. The breakfast offers a lot (even cacao for the cappuccino!) and the breakfast room is in itself already a pleasant experience; a good start of the day! Next time I am in Trier, I will come back to this hotel.

I was delighted with my stay at the Hotel Vinum. Everything about it was lovely - great location just across the street from the train station and within an easy walk of the town center (or you can catch the bus just across the street); The room and bathroom were much nicer than in a far more expensive hotel where I had stayed in Frankfurt; the breakfast buffet offered a variety of tasty choices and was served in a very nice room; the staff was gracious and helpful; the WiFi worked well; and it was very quiet at night - and the room came with a free bottle of wine! I loved the concept of its being a non-profit hotel benefiting the handicapped. I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Trier.

This hotel is the best you can get if you will be using the trains and buses to move around the area. It is directly across the street from the train station and bus platform. Inside the station is a manned tourist information stand as well as a staffed train counter. Both of these proved very helpful for getting around. The hotel itself is wonderful too. They have an elevator all the way to the ground level, but you do need to go up a flight to register. The room we had was compact, but it also was on the top floor, so there is less space. Nonetheless, a convenient and quiet hotel with a great breakfast. Downtown Trier is a five to ten minute hike.

We selected this hotel because of its location (directly across from the Train Central Train Station), as well as the reviews in TA. We also liked the concept of employing handicapped individuals - and them working hand in hand with all employees!

Our room was good sized - very clean - and comfortable. The bathroom was spotless, but quite small. This is a non-smoking (thank goodness), but our room was adjacent to a roof-top patio where smokers gathered. We didn't realize this until after we were settled in and unpacked - too much trouble to move.

The smokers did gather outside and carried on conversations, but, fortunately, they did not stay too late into the evening.

Breakfast was very good - a great variety of typical European breakfast foods. The breakfast room was large and sunny and very well decorated - it made us feel welcome.

The hotel is quite old, but has been renovated and is modern with comfortable beds and modern bathrooms.

The only negative to the hotel is its location (that is a contradiction to the location near the train station). Outside, there were some seedy characters hanging around the station - the two "cafes" directly next door were rather dingy, and on Saturday evening the seedy characters were loud and shouting until quite late at night. We could hear them from our room on the back of the hotel.

These blemishes for the area of the hotel shouldn't detract from the positive characteristics. A clean and modern hotel!

Big rooms and bathrooms. Free wifi and strong airco. Breakfast was good, with local products. Staff was nice. Hotel has a few parking spaces in a nearby public parking lot, which they offer at a discount. Location was convenient, a 10 minute walk from the Porta Nigra.

Convenient location next to the station without any disturbance from trains. Comfortable room and good breakfast at a reasonable cost. About a ten minute walk into the city and there is a nice Greek restaurant (Delphi) nearby. A niggle - there is an open roof terrace for smokers with a curfew time of 22.00. Apart from the slight smell of smoke seeping in through the closed window, the noise of loud coughing and chatter by different guests continued intermittently until about 01.00.

Vinum ist part of the "embrace hotels" who give chance for people with disabilities to have a nice place to work.
But don't think that the quality is lower, on the opposite!!! it is a solid, clean and friendly hotel located just in front of the train station.
Just be careful to be there before 21:00 in the evening or make an arrangement for the keys, otherwise you may have to wait 10 minutes for someone to come, but it is not a big disturbance, I ll come again!!

This hotel is suitable if you like to be located close to the main train station. Unfortunately this is a modest part of town so it may not suit the more discerning travelers.

I found it comfortable with a modest, although sufficient breakfast. You will have a comfortable stay, but, if you are looking for something inside the old town or closer to the main city attractions then this is not the hotel for you.

I was delighted by the friendly staff who went out of their way to make it a comfortable stay. In keeping with the name of the hotel (Wine) I received a complimentary bottle of white wine. A nice touch!

I upgraded to the junior suite which was great for the extra space even though I was a solo traveler. If you are looking for a reasonable hotel with an acceptable level of comfort then you will not go wrong. The staff made the stay very happy.

"Top floor is quieter...less traffic. In the German Bible Handbook of Rick Steeves he speaks poorly of the gambling and strip clubs. The casinos shouldn't be an issue, they're tucked away like any other business. We saw no evidence of the clubs that were mentioned (weren't really looking for them either)."
