Good spacious room in this conveniently located hotel in Trier. Very clean and quiet and yet walking distance to all the sights. Good breakfast. Entrance could be smarter and the room was rather dark but I'd still recommend. Parking available behind the hotel for an extra 6 euros a day.

We stayed in hotel Pieper near the end of our 18day tour of western Europe.
Booked through Booking.com and didnt expect much as the price and some dodgy reviews made me think it would only be ok for a night as there was nothing else around in that price range.
We were very pleasantly surprised!
Have to check in with staff at the bar, and they barely speak english and i only speak French and Italian! But it was fine as we muddled through and they are very nice people.
2 twin rooms were good sized with ok en suite.
Decor was pretty dated but clean and functional.
We only stayed one night and we ate at the bar, One of the best meals we had on our epic trip. I had a fillet of beef which was stunning, was brought a massive peice of beef with a small salad, then she came back with a huge basket of lovely chips!
Everyone else just pointed to something on the menu and was happy they did. Food was great.
We had breakfast here too.
Buffet breakfast was VAST! I went back 3 times just to try a bit of everything. Only to find out from the Mrs that i had missed half of it!!!
I think i had breakfast included in my room price, but i would happily have payed £10+ for it!
Only bad thing as someone else mentioned is the parking. We easily found a space out the back (down adjoining alley) but if we had got there 20 mins later who knows were we could have parked! No spaces on the street! And i couldnt see any carparks.
To sum up, if you speak a little German are on a budget and dont have a car this place is perfect. But i would definately eat here even if i stayed elsewhere.

This was literally the only place with rooms available, so we didn't have much choice in the matter, but Hotel Pieper was adequate. The bathroom was nice and the room was fairly large. Third floor was quiet. Check-in was a bit strange; we had to go into the bar (I nearly knocked out the poor man holding the door with my backpack!) to register, and then we had to wait for ten minutes for someone from the hotel to show up. It's a very secure hotel; there's a fob to get into the outer door and then the hotel, and a different key to get into your room. Five-minute walk through residential/business area to get to the Porta Nigra; also about five minutes to the train station.

Having a high score in Trip Advisor and guided through the photos published, we trusted we were making the right choice for our stay in Trier but it was not.
It is an old Hotel that needs the owners to invest in painting and carpets of the entrance, stairs and corridor to the rooms. Disgusting!
The bathroom also old, though the room it was clean.
It was a hot night so we had to open the window and the noise of the cars all night long was quite annoying.
We felt we paid too much for the poor quality of this hotel considering above comments and the fact the price doesn't even include the breakfast.

Avoid this place! Despite being recommended by R. S. this was the only low point of our entire three week trip to Europe.
I reserved a room six months in advance. Being just a tad OCD, I reconfirmed frequently. Yet, when we showed up after a 12 hour travel train day the owner said "my computer deleted your reservation...sorry". Arggh.
Needless to say, I can't describe the accomodation. I can tell you this. It is not that close to the train station (20 minute walk), and is also not on a public transportation route. The neighborhood is full of graffiti and garbage; with bars on all the windows of every establishment. In any location the need for that kind of security is worth a thousand words.
When we arrived, the procedure for check-in was most confusing. We finally discerned that we needed to go the next door restaurant to check in. After three weeks in Europe we were used to smoke; but the tiny room that passes for a restaurant had the thickest tobacco cloud we encountered anywhere. The (apparent) owner told me "We have a little problem. My computer deleted your reservation. We can give you one night in a single room, and that is all. Let me try to help you find a room for another night" He then proceeded to use the phone, and was rejected. My fried brain was scrambling, but I finally asked him where the nearest Internet cafe was thinking we could find somewhere else online. He said he didn't know, but directed us to the Tourist Office. (which was already closed, and as a local, he would have known this)
Fortunately, my husband had his GPS with him and it brought up several options. We went to the first one listed, and it proved to be so good that is was one of the highlights of our trip. (Römischer Kaiser, read that as a separate post).
Let me repeat. Avoid the Hotel Pieper at all cost. No matter what promises you are given (my email correspondence was cordial and welcoming) you run the risk of having no reservation when you actually arrive. Considering that Trier is "out of the way" for any sort of transportation the risk is not worth it.
Now, check out my posting about the Römischer Kaiser.:)

The hotel is very nice and the staff is very helpful although not many speak English. The rooms have a shower, TV, and hairdryer. The street is generally quite so you can get a good rest. There is a gourmet shop/deli right next door to the hotel. Breakfast (included) was very nice - cheeses, cold meats, fruit, yogurt, cereal, soft and hard-boiled eggs, tea, coffee, juice, breads - quite filling. Within walking distance of the bus/train station. Also a short walk to the Porta Nigra and the pedestrian zone of Trier.

It's a 3-minute walk from the hotel to St. Paulin's church, which is a lovely baroque church not often visited by the throngs of tourists in Trier. Take a moment to enjoy the beauty and peace of this nearby church.

Another thing to do in Trier, in addition to seeing the lovely city squares, cathedrals, and Roman ruins, it to take a hour-long cruise on the Moselle river (7 Euro pp) and enjoy some of the regional wine - I recommend taking the cruise in the evening after a long day of sightseeing.

I stayed here 1 night to visit the historic city of Trier and I am very glad I picked this hotel.

The room was just right for one person for one night. The cleanliness of the bathroom was immaculate. The amenities provided were perfect for one person as well. The decorations were modern as well as the TV (for those who care about that).

The staff was really friendly but naturally they speak German so please brush up on your German :)

The location of the hotel is not too far from the Porta Nigra and the marketplace.

All in all, it was a great stay and I will definitely stay at this hotel when I come back to Trier again.

Very nice hotel in a residential neighborhood of Trier. The hotel is only 5-10 minutes to either Porta Nigra or the Trier Hbf. The hotel was much nicer than my expectation. It was very new, clean and modern and was absolutely comfortable for a short stay. I did not have breakfast but the dining room looked very cozy. Internet access was average and I should have asked for more codes at reception as each code is only valid for 1 device. Besides that, there did not appear to be any English language TV channels - but not a big deal. A nice hotel and I would definitely stay again and recommend.

This hotel was an easy walk from the train station and the breakfast was superb and worth the additional fee. The room we had was large and every thing was very clean.

The only negative was that we were not given the password for the internet when we checked in. We did not feel our German was up to trying to call and ask for it and were not sure if we would reach someone with whom we could speak English. We were able to get online through the free internet available downtown so it wasn't too much of a hassle and we were able to get the password after breakfast the next morning. The internet once we accessed it was fast and reliable.

We would definitely stay here again.
