We stayed here for 2 nights on our drive from the UK to Austria, with our 2 dogs. It’s a traditional hotel that has been run by 5 generations of the same family. We were made to feel very welcome and were well looked after. The rooms were clean and spacious and the bed was quite simply the comfiest I have ever slept on. There was also a complimentary bottle of sparkling water each day in the rooms. The breakfast buffet was a help yourself to as much as you want and included gluten free cereal and bread options. We ate at the hotel in the evenings as well, the food is delicious and extremely good value for money. It’s a popular place to eat for locals as well as hotel guests, so you know the food is good! Be sure to try something from the Smoker and/or the Big Green Egg! It’s a great location for a walk or cycle ride along the river. Highly recommended, we will definitely be back again.

We stayed 4 nights, and everything about our stay was excellent. Great staff, very comfortable room, excellent breakfast, and we dined twice in the restaurant and both times were excellent meals. Staff could not help us enough, and we speak very little German. Thanks to all at Hotel Estricher Hof.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming, rooms are quite and has all the facilities you need.
2 things that were not so good:
They say thry have wifi but in the rooms the signels are low and you have to sit in the outside balcony to get good wifi (in 5-7 degrees celcius).
second, they did not notify us that theres no one from 10pm so we couldnt request anything from that time.

I had some problems with the hotel administration. I had booked a dinner via internet for 25 euros, however, the restaurant could not present me with a corresponding menu and I was forced to eat à la carte. The hotel tried to eliminate the dinner booking but did that by reducing the room price. This reduced room price was not honored by the hotel so I paid a full room price plus the à la carte dinner. If done correctly the hotel should have offered me the dinner (paid 39 euros) at the booked price of 25 euros (or the reduced room price) and they would have avoided an unhappy customer.
As for the hotel I was disappointed that there was no foot path to the river bank, this being blocked by the highway and the railway. Limited choice of English/French spoken TV stations. Will not return.

We arrived in Trier without reservations and could not get a room. Unbeknownst to us the world rally championship was on, so all the rooms were booked out. Fortunately there was a cancellation at Estricher Hof and we snapped it up. The hotel is lovely and spacious and the service was excellent. It is a short distance from downtown Trier with ample parking. To enjoy the sights in Trier we simply took the bus into town (5 minutes on way) which meant we could enjoy our stay and not worry about parking. The bus stop is directly in front of the hotel. We had a delightful stay and a very enjoyable meal at the restaurant as well.

Overall a good hotel and good experience.
The staff is very friendly and helpful and the food was very good.
The hotel form outside looks a bit out dated but inside it is modern.

It not near the city center of trier, but public transportation and parking is very good, so this is a good fallout base. With Bus, bike or Car you can easily get to Trier. By car you can also do a day trip to Luxembourg.

Note on navigation: Navigation sends you on a bicycle lane, this is not needed! There is a exit on the main road itself next to the hotel. you can't miss it.

Excellent stay at hotel Estricher Hof for my husband, son and I. We spent on night on 9-15-12 there while visiting Trier. What a gem. I don't think I have ever felt so welcome at a hotel. The rooms are standard for a 3 star in Germany. We had a king bed and also a sitting are with flat screen TV, couch, chair and coffee table. The room was spotless. Wifi was free in the room and had a great signal.
Outside is nice biergarten and a playground. It also appears to connect to a hiking trail.
At check-in we made reservations for dinner there. When we were shown to our table we found our sons (3 years old) place set with a Lightning McQueen place mat, cup, napkin and a coloring page and color pencils. He was thrilled and occupied for dinner. Dinner was wonderful. the menu is varied and they have seasonal specials. The menu includes veggie options.
Breakfast was included and was super (son had a Spiderman set-up this time). They make eggs to order- fried, boiled or scrambled served with bacon and there is a buffett with all the usuals- yougurt, cheese, meats, all kinds of bread...They even had sparkling wine on the buffett.
The hotel is not in the center of the city which is what we wanted. The hotel is on the Mosel but there is a pretty busy street between the hotel and the river. This does create some traffic noise in the outside areas. Parking is onsite and free. They have a huge lot. The hotel is about 7 minutes driving from the hotel to Porto Nigra which was no prob because there is lots of public parking downtown. The parking lots and garages are very well marked. We dropped the car and took the hop-on-hop off bus which I recommend.

Very hospitable hotel, where you will receive the most friendly and personal welcome. The room we stayed in had very comfortable beds and was always very clean. A special bed and a drinking bowl had been placed for our dog. The dog's approach was also endearing. Ideal to stay with dogs.

Wonderful hotel with good beds and comfortable rooms, worth three stars. But mainly a very friendly, family atmosphere, an excellent breakfast and a fantastic restaurant.
The menu seems rather limited, but every dish is delicious!
It is located on a busy road, but that does not really bother you and you are only 2 kilometers from Trier.
