I just got back from making my 9th stay at The Alte Canzley. There's a reason for that because this hotel remains incomparable. White-glove clean, great food, and then there's the location--right across from the Castle Church in one of the most historically significant locations anywhere. The staff is consummately friendly, helpful and professional. I look forward to my next...

Alte Canzley is located within walking distance of all important Luther sites in Wittenberg. Our room was very generously sized with a separate bathroom and entry. No fancy, but reasonably priced. Excellent and helpful staff who speak English!

We just finished three nights at the hotel. Great room, large with all the amenities. View of the Castle Church and the bronze doors with Luther's 95 Theses. The hotels breakfast was good. Every person we dealt with at the hotel was professional and cared about our satisfaction. We stayed in the Gustav Adolf room and it had a kitchenette....

Since I wrote my 2007 review I did, in fact, return to the Alte Canzley--6 times. My positive impression hasn't changed one iota. As aLuther fan I'll admit that the location is simply incomparable, but hotel itself stays right at the top. That's partly due to the friendly professionalism of the staff, but also to the building itself, as well...

Our family stopped here on Spring Break and found the location perfect for our visit to Martin Luther's historic hometown. The staff was nice enough at check in and the rooms are somewhat dated but fine. The receptionist told us breakfast was from 7:00-10:00 AM which we attended the next morning. Afterwards, we were told at 10:45 AM that check...

Location ***** As central as it gets. Just opposite the church, the views have to be magnificent as soon as the restoration works are over. Unfortunately the view as of today is not that great. Reception ***** Fantastic service. We were shown the room, and got everything explained in detail. Room **** Big and comfortable. There are even some old...

What a great place to stay in L.Wittenberg. Stayed here twice during my bicycle trip in Germany and enjoyed it very much. Speaking of "room with a view" ! My room, rather apartment (#2) had view on the Church door, where Luther once nailed down his 95 theses. Alte Canzley is a small hotel, therefore reception is not permanently staffed,...

The hotel is small with only 8 rooms but has a very nice breakfast room and restaurant. The building is quit old, built in 1391, but has all the modern conveniences. The rooms were very clean. The beds are traditional German twin beds put together. The reception is not always staffed but the restaurant staff handle any questions. The breakfast...

We selected this hotel because it is located next to the Wittenberg chuch with Luther Thesis door. The peacefull location is about 200 meters from the main square. There is a nice restaurant and breakfast room downstairs. Room and bathrooms were big and clean, and "homey". There was no 24 hour reception as it is a small hotel and the...

First of all, the hotel is excellent with email correspondence relating to your stay. Second , the town itself is an outstanding spot to overnight. Multiple food choices and walkable. The hotel was a model of Teutonic efficiency-clean, nice bathroom and good beds. Breakfast was excellent also. One negative was no wifi available - they did have a plug in...
