Spotlessly clean hotel, rooms cleaned and bed linen changed daily! Spacious and well equipped, friendly staff, great location handy for local bus and very close to beach/promenade, so whats not to like?
Corner rooms can be noisy from traffic (we were moved without fuss), although a previous review mentions a sea view I have my doubts. We asked for a sea view room and were assured they do not have any and the layout of the hotel (after our two weeks holiday) would indicate that if you had a top floor apartment and stood on your partners shoulders, you may see a ribbon of water! Breakfast choice was excellent, but the hot selection was always only luke warm at best, and whilst did complain about that, nothing changed.
Just down the road is a supermarket with an escalator that will take you down directly to the promenade. Total lack of information provided by the hotel, bus stops, places of interest, etc, which seems strange but in fairness lots of leaflets from local tour operators in reception.
Would we return? I'm afraid the lack of a sea view was the killer for us, if you can live without that, I'm sure you will enjoy the hotel and area.

My husband and I just spent a week here on a self catering holiday. The hotel is very well located, 5 minute walk from beach, cafes, restaurants and shops and around a 15 minute walk to the marina. The apartments are quite large and very well equipped. The kitchen has everything you can need for a full self-catering stay, with lots of plates, dishes, ports and pans, toaster and also has a dishwasher and washing machine if you want to use it. They also provide a small welcome pack with a dishwashing tablet, washing up liquid cloths etc. There's also a welcome pack in the bathroom with a shaving kit, soap, toothbrushes and lots of other bits and pieces. We were given an apartment to the front of the hotel. These look out onto the busy road and the balconies are shaded , which isn't a problem if you prefer to be at the pool where there are plenty of sun loungers to use. We however asked to be moved as the road is noisy and were given an apartment which overlooked the pool. Our balcony was large with a table, 4 chairs and 2 sun loungers. The balcony got the sun from around 1.30 until 7pm. The apartments are clean and comfortable with daily housekeeping and you can ask the staff for anything you need . They could definitely be doing with a bit of an update as they are a bit old fashioned, especially the bathrooms, and the decor of the entire hotel is a bit 1970's. We didn't use the spa or the hotel restaurant so I can't comment on the facilities or service though I went for a wander around and both looked clean and staff were friendly. Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Monarque Sultan and would stay here again if we went back to Marbella.

I have stayed here before on a few occasions the last probably about 10 years ago. Travelled with my 15 year old daughter and wanted to stay in a familiar place and it didn’t disappoint. Both gentlemen I encountered on reception were very pleasant and professional. Our apartment was fantastic. We were given a room on the 6th floor. It had a separate kitchen with oven, dishwasher, washing machine and all the usual dishes and utensils you would need. The bedroom was lovely and bright with sliding doors to the balcony with a table and four chairs. The living room had three sliding doors out to the extremely huge L shaped balcony, I mean huge with two sunloungers. The kitchen also had a sliding door out onto a smaller balcony which had a clothes horse to dry your towels etc. The aircon worked perfectly. Any of the housekeeping staff were very friendly and we were given clean towels every day (even though we hung them up to reuse them) and our sheets were changed midweek through our stay. It was extremely quiet at night and we were not disturbed by other guests or street noise. Pool area was very clean and not busy although maybe the water a tiny bit on the cool side. All in all we had a very comfortable stay from start to finish and we will definitely return. Thanks to all at the Sultan Club.

First impressions were of a lovely hotel in a great location in Marbella
Rooms are large and well equipped but a little tired and dated.
All was well until we woke up on the third morning to no water at all in the hotel, so no shower no coffee and more importantly no loo. Eventually sorted much later in day but not a great experience.
Although the hotel boasts of an indoor pool, trying to use it was near impossible. Each guest had to make a personal advance booking with an extremely unhelpful spa receptionist who disappeared completely when you turned up to access the pool and then when you she did eventually appear mandated that without swim cap you couldn’t go anywhere near the completely empty pool.
When I arrived I was sure I would return but now I doubt it

Dear Mr. Stallion, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I am truly sorry to read that you were unhappy with the service received. Unfortunately we had a major maintenance issue and we had to take care of it suddenly in the morning without previous advice. In regards to the usage of our indoor pool we do have regulations to be followed and also a booking system in order to control the forum. Great aparthotel. Apartments were fantastic, had a full kitchen, fridge, freezer, washing machine, kettle, coffee maker, clothes dryer on large veranda. location was brilliant, 5 mins to beach and beautiful promenade that you can walk the whole way to the old town and Orange Square. Old town and Orange Square beautiful, lovely restaurants and gorgeous shops. Loved Marbella, will definitely go back and stay at the Monarque Sultan.

Not sure I understand some of the negative reviews as this is a perfectly acceptable hotel that is pretty affordable.

It’s not perfect (hence the four stars) as the rooms are a bit dated, but they’re spacious, comfortable and clean. The TV has the five main British channels and the kitchen and shower rooms were fine and both balconies (our apartment was on two floors) were very big.

Slight disappointment that I thought I’d booked two twin rooms but apparently all apartments are one twin and a double, but the sofa bed for a 17 yr old was fine.

Pool area can be quite shady at certain times of the day and it’s not a massive area but it’s pretty good (albeit quite shallow - about 0.9m max depth).

Didn’t use the spa or restaurant but both looked nice. Breakfast was standard buffet style for a hotel of this class with a small “English” section, pastries, bread, cereal, meats and cheeses with hot drinks and juices which were all good.

Unlike one reviewer I didn’t hear any road noise as it’s on a quiet road a short walk to the beach with plenty of restaurants and a twenty minute stroll to the main area and old town, which is definitely worth a visit.

All in all a good hotel and you’ll have a nice holiday here.

An eye opening view of how clean, professional and safe All the staff are at this hotel. After 2 years of being stuck in the UK the Spanish approach to COVID is excellent. No wonder Boris Johnson goes to Spain !
Apartment has everything you will need. If self catering 10 mins walk to EL Corte ingles (fantastic fresh fish) other supermarkets also easily reached.
Room cleaned every day. Small indoor pool with Spa and gym. Staff friendly deserve a thank you and a positive review

Not sure why the staff work here because they definitely don’t want to be here! Rude is an understatement! A smile goes a long way and bad manners seems to be common practice in that hotel. I would never come back, thankfully we had things planned during our stay so we could spend as little time as possible there, even if you did want to stay around the hotel you wouldn’t get round the tiny little pool in the shade (that is dirty too) Rooms aren’t bad so that is a positive other than that I couldn’t wait to get out of the there, breakfast is awful, And if you think about laughing in that hotel then don’t bother it’s frowned upon. I think the hotel theme amongst the staff is miserable.
Check in was a complete disaster wrong rooms keys given out. reception staff not very helpful. overall my opinion of this is that a prison would be more inviting,

Stay in puerto banus as the misery seems to be apparent in the whole of this area of Marbella.

The hotel is located in a quite, largely residential area, but a few minutes walk to the promenade, beach, cafes, restaurants and supermarkets. It's close to bus stops and a taxi rank, but the main harbour is only fifteen to twenty minutes stroll away. There is a restaurant and bar on site, plus a garden and pool (but this was closed when we visited in November). The rooms are spacious, with small but well-equipped kitchens, and large balconies with two sun loungers, a table and four chairs. The hotel and rooms are very clean, with daily housekeeping.

Just returned from this lovely hotel where I spent 10 days holiday. The staff were extremely helpful and polite during our stay and did everything they could to help make our vacation pleasureable.
My wife accidently cut her finger whilst cleaning a glass and the maid, pool guard and staff at the reception couldn't have been more caring and helpful. We received 1st class madical attention at the local hospital where she had a few stitches which were bandaged to prevent infection.
We eat out each day so I cant comment on the food at the hotel but the resturant looked so beautiful.
The hotel is extremely clean and the appartment was big and appeared well maintained.
There was everything you need for self catering, including a TV (with a few english channels) dish washer, washing machine, iron, hair dryer etc.
There were 2 nearby supermakets which opened most of the day with reasonable food prices. The pool and surrounding bar and seating area was heavenly. The short walk to the seafront was bliss and weather perfect. (23-26 degrees)
I would definately return to this hotel again.
