Cosy cortijo great for groups in lounge with log fire. Some rooms are small. Beautiful pool (unheated) area. Barking dogs nearby will keep you awake. The road from Algamitas is unsurfaced and very rough in places.

We stayed at this hotel with a group of walkers. The first thing that greets you is the amazing scenery and the warm welcome from the hosts, Cartouche and Joke. The hotel is a very comfortably converted famhouse. clean and modern, with spectacular views from the terrace and balconies. The delicious evening meals, served on the terrace, were local dishes, cooked and served on site. The last-evening paella was exquisite. The picninc lunches supplied were simple but delicious. The hotel had everything you needed - swimming pool, bar, dining room, lounge, filled bookshelves, en suite facilities. And it's close to the city of Seville for a day visit. And with only 8 rooms, it is great for small groups. I would recommend this peaceful hotel to anyone staying in Andalucia.

The Cortijo is such a relaxing place ..all made possible by the owners Joke and Cartouche . We were a group of 4 ladies who stayed in the self catering apartments. We were invited to eat along with the larger group ..which we did couple of times , and really enjoyed the food. Definitely need a car/ transport to enjoy the surrounding areas ... like Seville , Córdoba Ronda and the neighbouring villages . We walked the Caminito del Rey , which was amazing . We also did a few walks direct from the Cortijo , which was super to leave the car for a few days. Thanks Joke , Cartouche and the nice English guy behind the bar for making us so welcome .

Unique location. Very friendly owners. Ideal for day trips to Sevilla, Cordoba, Malaga, Jerez de la Fronteira. Excellent breakfast and diner. The owners are Flemish who know “le savoir giver” very well. Very quiet and peacefull. An eagles nest :-).

If you're looking for a place where you can feel at home, chill out to the max and still have plenty of things to do, this is the place for you. Set near the small, traditional village of Algamitas, this farmhouse offers local cuisine and hospitality with stunning views of magnificent olive orchards which this region is famous for. We were fortunate enough to get the only room with a terrace and it was quite an experience to wake up and look out over the terrace from our bedroom to take in the views. Fantastic! If there is anything you need or want all you have to do is ask and something will be arranged. But mostly you will want to enjoy the countryside, the local people and experience real tranquility that will leave you aching for more.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at the Cortijo. It's always nice to know that our guests enjoy their holiday. We are very proud of our team at the Cortijo and they will be very pleased to know their efforts are appreciated. Just as a point of interest we do have two other rooms with small terraces which overlook the mountains of Peñón ande Terril.

We stayed here as a large group (16 of us) 26th July-2nd August 2016. It was absolutely beautiful. The villa was traditional ( and spotlessly clean) and had a lovely warm and loved feeling inside. The views are breath taking and you can truly leave all your stresses behind when spending a week or more at the Cortijo. Inside you have plenty of space including a large dinning room, fully equipped kitchen, lounge and bar area. There are two patio spaces with tables and chairs outside which are lovely spaces to share family meals with the lovely views to look at. We had a variety of ages with us as young as 3 and as old as 60 and everyone was happy and comfortable. There are lots of lovely little touches that will make you feel at home such as board games and lovely photos and old music. We spend our time with two lovely dogs that also made the holiday wonderful as we had left behind our own beloved four legged friends and these dogs were very sweet. Doug the care taker was very helpful and always happy to help us in any way he could. He helped us with our shopping and even a small amount of basic Spanish!! A very nice man. The rooms did get very hot at night, we used the fans provided and I would just recommend to anyone going to take very light night wear and by plenty of water to drink at night. We went on two wonderful trips - one to the lakes and one to Seville. I recommend both. The owner kindly arranged the transport for these and Paco the coach driver was very nice and always on time and smiling. Everyone spent this week with a smile on their face, we were so relaxed and comfortable and everything we could possibly need was here. A lot of work and love had gone into this Villa and it is a huge credit t the owners for all of the small touches. Overall a fantastic holiday in one of the stunning ' forgotten villages' of Spain. If you are fed up of tourist led places and want an authentic slice of Spain, or like walking this is for you. Thank you Bill, Anne, Doug, Chicco and Churro :)

Thank you so much for such a positive review. We love self-catering holidays and so we try and make the cortijo somewhere we would like to stay. It is always rewarding to find there are plenty of "people like us"! We are so pleased you and your family enjoyed your holiday and thank you for taking the time to post a review. Kind regards Anne & Bill

My family of 11 adults and 5 children have only just returned from a lovely (but very hot!!) holiday at the villa. The only reason I didn't give this an excellent rating is due to the fact there is no air conditioning in the rooms and the temperature reached the high 30's on some days! It would have been nice to get some respite from the heat at night, and although there are fans in all the rooms, it just blows the hot air around! Anyway apart from that the place was lovely, with two pools which we spent lots of fun times in. The location is beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. We did self catering and mostly had BBQ's and had fun trying to work the cookers etc, as they were industrial ones, luckily we had an ex chef with us! Myself, my partner and son had the small separate villa which was lovely. It had a lounge/dining room, balcony and kitchen, but we spent most of our time in the main villa with the rest of the family. We all mucked in with the food prep and clearing up and two of the children had their birthdays whilst there. Doug the caretaker was extremely helpful and gave us lifts to the local shop to stock up on provisions. He was always available when we needed help with anything. We did walk to the village once, but there is an extremely steep hill back to the villa, and in the heat, it was too much!! We had two trips out which were arranged by the owners, in a small coach with the same driver Paco, to the lakes and Seville. They were very enjoyable. Overall it was a lovely, enjoyable family holiday.

Many thanks for your review Amelia. It's always nice to have feedback and to know you enjoyed your holiday. We do appreciate your comments about air conditioning and it is an issue we have considered. However our core business is with a tour company that promotes responsible tourism and obviously air conditioning is not particularly environmentally friendly not to mention very ugly. We normally find that fans are quite effective but I'm sorry if you had problems with the heat. Hopefully the pools helped to keep you cool most of the time. Thank you once again for taking the trouble to give us feedback.

We stayed in the self catering villa at Cortijo Rosario the first week of September. The property was spotlessly clean and very well equipped and comfortable It has an ingenious layout with a central patio section that feels like an integral part of the villa which make the most of the glorious view. There are also two further patios. The pool which was for our private use was fabulous, big enough to have a decent swim and surrounded by a good sized area with sun beds. We spent a lot of time there and often enjoyed the company of the owners two dogs who came to sit with us. Anne and Bill the owners who lived next door were very nice and helpful and respected our privacy entirely. We throughly enjoyed our time there and can recommend it as a great base in Andalucia and the excellent wifi signal was a bonus

We rented this property for a week's family self-catering holiday in August 2015 (other times of the year it is run as a hotel). The location was beautiful and the villa and pool were perfect for us - 8 rooms for 9 of us (aged 23 to 59) so three were not used; fabulous large warm pool and lots of sun loungers, huge kitchen and two very friendly dogs. Bill and Ann (the owners) were very welcoming and helpful. We used the supermarkets in Algamitas and had half day visits to Seville, Rhonda and paddle boarding at lake 40 mins away. Atremendous place for a family holiday. We are all very rested after our week of fun, laughter, swimming and sunbathing.

A lovely converted farmhouse atop a hill, surrounded by olive groves and high mountains and overlooking the quaint and tranquil village of Algamitas. I arrived here with a group organised by the travel company Exodus who specifically state that this is not a luxury villa or hotel. As long as you accept that, there are no problems. ( It is clear that some previous reviewers got this wrong!). We were met by Bill, the English owner of the place. The cook Maria and her sister Rocio are village ladies who cooked excellent meals for us. Juan, a safe driver, was our driver for the week. The bar is great and works on the honesty system. The rooms were comfortable and clean. My bathroom was small but clean and that is what I expected. The whole place was tranquil and calm and so don't expect a disco bar! There are excellent walks around here and there is a lovely, clean pool, patios and sunbeds. Just ignore the negative reviews! There is free wi-fi and on chilly evenings there was a wood fire in the living room. Please note that my pictures show my single room. The other rooms are much bigger. Highly recommended!
