We stayed here as a family, 2 adults, 2 teenagers for 5 nights in July, I was a bit concerned given the mixed reviews but on the whole the hotel was great. Reception are bar area are nice and service was quick and friendly. The rooms had all you needed and although the bedrooms were dated in decor the beds were comfortable, rooms were large, lots of storage and the bathrooms were renovated with an excellent shower. The rooftop pool was nice to get out of the heat though it could do with bringing up to date and towels by the pool and a pool bar would have been a good addition. Location is really good for easy walking to all local sight seeing spots and loads of cafes, bars and restaurants in easy walking distance. Views from the hotel aren’t great but to be expected given it’s the middle of the city centre. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the location plus benefit of an outdoor pool made it a good choice.

By no means is this how it is advertised. Rooms are dark and shabby. The hotel needs a refurbishment as it appears old and dirty. Very dated.

Our deluxe room had a burned out light bulb which could not be replaced because it was reported on a Sunday morning and there was not anyone working who could take care of it. Also we could. It get the room to warm up and could not get that resolved for the same reason as the lightbulb.

The staff is most pleasant. Breakfast is adequate with very little presented, in small quantities, but this may be because of low occupancy. The hotel may not want to waste food. It is served in a ballroom which is well spaced for COVID reasons. BUT when ordering an omelette with mushrooms, we were told that they do not have any. A 5* hotel restaurant does not have mushrooms?????

The best about this hotel are the location and the fitness room.

We stayed one night as we past through Spain going south. We had a very good experience and would happily return.
Hotel was easy enough to locate. About 5-10 minutes from the motorway. And only 2 minutes walk from the centre which was lovely. Zaragoza is a secret gem!
Parking was in the basement and is well signposted from the main road. It is secure and affords quick easy access to the hotel lift from where you can easily access all floors. It is tight to get in and out, But parking spaces themselves are large. Campers are saved the twists and turns. Parking was extra cost at approximately 25 euro.
The reception and bar are lovely, and far more luxurious than the price would suggest. Rooms and hallways are classic Spanish in feel and a little tired but perfectly acceptable. Rooms were clean and well presented. We also received ropes and slippers which was a nice surprise. The pool is accessed via stairs or lift on the top floor. It’s a lovely setting although again, felt slightly tired, but clean. Nice views across the city. I used the gym once which was typical of hotel gyms. A few treadmills and some cable machines. Not very well equipped but it did the job for a quick workout before another long day driving. Checkout was 11 which was brilliant. The receptionists spoke great English and were very accommodating and professional. We asked for an extra bed for our 6 year old and we were upgraded to a family suite free of charge. Would recommend and we will go back.

Hotel Palafox proved to be a delightful choice in central Zaragoza, and one which we would recommend highly.

Located on a short, quiet street, it is only a few minutes’ walk to busy commercial areas with numerous shops and restaurants. For example, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, perhaps the best known tourist destination in Zaragoza, is just a pleasant 15- or 20-minute walk away. The staff are professional and accommodating, while our room was spacious and warm.

Likewise, the on-site restaurant, Aragonia, served delicious dishes in an elegant setting — we liked it so much that we ate dinner there two of our three nights in the the city. We also ate in the well appointed bar and were very happy with our experience.

In short, Hotel Palafox is an excellent choice for travelers who want to pamper themselves in Zaragoza.

We unwisely booked to stay here when the town goes crazy celebrating a Saint's day.
This meant that we left a day early and failed to visit all the wonderful tapas bars. We unwillingly dined in the hotel restaurant but were happily delighted by an excellent meal with interesting dishes and good wine at a very reasonable price.
As the hotel is in the middle of the town our room looked out over a block of flats that were close by. Ask for a room that looks out over the street.
We can't fault the service and support that we got from the front of house. They could not have been more helpful.

This may have been a very good hotel in the past, but, alas, that was a long time ago. The rooms are dark and in need of total refurbishment. We rejected the first two rooms which we were shown and finally ended with a room on the 7th floor (apparently the 7th floor had been refurbished). It was still not great! The housekeeper was very pleasant but spoke no English and my Spanish is somewhat lacking. The front desk staff were very pleasant. The breakfast service was OK, but nothing to write home about (possibly due to a lack of guests). All in all it was not a good stay!

We were a family of 4, which included two 17yr olds. Our rooms were spacious and with plenty of storage space. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Small bar fridge was very handy. The breakfast had plenty of choice and was kept well stocked and fresh. We enjoyed the rooftop pool at then end of days sightseeing, which included pool towels which you get from reception. Well situated for sightseeing. Recommend open top bus tour on first day.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed staying here and would go back to Zaragoza again.

So, the hotel is nice. A lot of instagramable places inside the hotel. Nice atmosphere also.
I choose to give only 4* because the rooms could be a bit refurbished. We stayed in a suite and the bedroom was very nice, but the living room had an older sofa and a small closet.
It is very clean, that I must say.
Breakfast was ok, many choices, but could be better.
The staff at the reception was a bit overwhelmed and had some issues in helping us with some requests, but I have to say that we were part of a big event and maybe this is why they were so overwhelmed.
It has a good location, there are a oot of restaurant and shops around. It's a nice place.

NEGATIVES :-
Rooms not properly cleaned.
Carpets dirty and worn.
Coffee, tea and soaps not replenished.
Little variety for breakfast especially for NON MEAT eaters. Nothing is labeled in English.
WiFi is terrible.
POSITIVES:-
Close proximity to restaurants and sights.
Hardly worth 5 stars.

There's a nearby gym called Coliseo that's really complete and has everything and you can get a one day or two day pass. I don't know if it's any better than the Palafox's gym, but the nearby Meliá hotel has a gym on the top floor and you can use it and nobody will ask you any questions. Up to you.

Yes, they can park your car at a nearby garage for 20 Euro/day. Just pull up in front of the hotel and they will advise you where to park (or give them your keys and they will park it).

I had a rented car only inside of Spain. As so many parkings in Spain this hotel has one, but quite narrow. Do valet parking. It is about 15 minutes walk to the cathedrals, to drive by car makes no sense at all. Half way by bus is possible.

Dear queijinho, Sorry for late reply. For one night stay you should save your money. I do not think there is a big difference between standard & superior rooms. The rooms are pretty dated, so I do not think you'll get something better with superior type of room. Location is great.
