We had a great stay here. The hotel is located in the old city center close to excellent shopping and culinairy venues. Guggenheim is at walking distance, indoor parking is available upon request. Highly recommend this hotel if you like to be in the heart of Bilbao.
Tourists from other countries than Spain without a phone like us, will have problems: the pension is located in a peatonal street, the garage for the car in anotrher street nearby and both are closed:you have to phone the person in charge this day(always only one) telling her the arrival time so that she can open you the garage and/or the prnsion and your room. Very difficult to tell an exact time of arrival coming from the airport due to traffic and congestions depending rush hours. Room is nice but VERY smal, bath room is excellent! Very good location when you are finally done...
This is a charming part of the old city, very central and safe. We had a great room full of character with the cinema link providing a fun theme. There isn't a receptionist full time but the lady who met us was very helpful both for the hotel and where to eat and drink. We booked the private parking which worked well and I think saved us a lot of problems trying to find parking for several days.
Couldn’t fault this place. Arrived late but code system was great, didn’t see owners but payment easy too. Rooms lovely. You can walk straight to a big square from the property with loads of bars and restaurants
As a city break this hits the spot At the start of our walking trip we spent the first night at the Caravan. Right smack bang in the middle of the old quarter. No better place to be. Great amenities the most comfortable bed. Loved it and will definitely be staying on our last nigh too.
The location of the Caravan is brilliant - slap bang in the middle of the old town. Check in was slick and our host was extremely helpful in giving us an overview of Bilbao. We stayed in Room 8 which is opposite the main door so there was some disturbance at night and our windows overlooked an internal courtyard. I'm not sure how the Caravan is billed as a hotel as there are no facilities or food served? This was no issue to us but just a thought. The room was more than functional but the only complaint was the heat of the room which was unbearable!! The underfloor heating was on constantly and the air conditioning wasn't adequate. We did speak to the housekeeper, who understood our discomfort, but there was nothing that she could do. We stayed in February when the weather was around 16 in the day....... not sure how uncomfortable it would be in the height of the summer. If you like being hot 24 hours a day this is the place for you!…
We stayed here for a few nights to explore Bilbao. We had a brilliant time. The hotel is in a great location in the old town. You emerge from the hotel right into the heart of Bilbao and although Bilbao can be busy at night the rooms were very quiet. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the sheets were changed after the second night. Although breakfast is not provided there are lots of nearby places for an early coffee and croissant.
Nice hotel, looks lovely, but our luggage was stolen from the hotel. It is not a safe place because of the way the hotel is locked. So that was a very negatve xperience. I am even more disappointed with the way the hotel dealt with it. They promised for months to refund the costs we had to make (new passports, new laptop, new bag, new travel guides) and we haven't received anything. We even just had to pay for our stay. So I wouldn't recommend this unfriendly hotel.
The room was very unique. Design theme carried throughout the hotel and room. The location was in a pedestrian precinct within the old town. Means parking's a pain and you have to walk with your luggage from the nearest public parking underground car park. Being in the old town is good for exploring. Guggenheim is 15/20 mins away along the river, but was an interesting walk. Definitely worth seeing. Check in was chaotic, people who run these types of hotels need to think about the quality of the communication, not just throw facts at you when your not in a position to take it in.
4 of us stayed in the 2 bedroom Alfred Hitchcock apartment, there was ample space, great decor and a super location. The friendly host met us and gave us a great brief on Bilbao. We arrived late and departed early but it was a great stopover in Bilbao
