We had a fantastic time at Villa Birdie. Blanca and Xabi could not have been more welcoming. We'd highly recommend the villa to any couple wanting a relaxing stay in San Sebastian. While the Villa isn't in the city centre, it's in a really nice part of town and it has both bus and rail stops only a few minutes walk away. From there it's only a few minutes to either Gros or the Old Town. The villa pool was great and offered a relaxing spot to unwind in the sunshine. The rooms were very tastefully decorated and kept spotlessly clean. We loved it so much that when we next return to San Sebastian, it'll be the only place that we consider staying.
Perfect place to stay in San Sebastián, very short bus journey to the boulevard/new town and old town and very cheap! The villa itself was very chic and very comfortable with beautiful decor throughout. Blanca, the owner couldn’t have been more helpful with recommendations of what to do in the city and provided a map of the best routes and the best places to eat, her English was brilliant. Breakfast was gorgeous consisting of 4 different courses and refills if necessary! Would really recommend this area and this villa!
Although we arrived 2 hours early, the sweet maid "Maria" made sure we felt welcome and quickly arranged for our luggage and parking, and telling us where to go for a 2 hour sight seeing. Checking in with the owner "Blancha", we were thoroughly introduced to the hotel, the area and the interesting things to do in San Sebastian. We felt more than welcome. Situated 2 km from the old town, the hotel is perfect, as you can choose to take a bus to the city, or enjoy the walk as you please. With all the good food and wine of San Sebastian, walking came very natural - and recommend. The hotel offers the best breakfast we have ever had anywhere in Spain. Rich, healthy, tasty and freshly made. Highly recommended. Rooms are nicely decorated, a bit small, but to us this was actually cozy. We give this our best recommendations.…
What a disapointment on every level. We were sent there by the manager of another hotel in the area who did not have available rooms after 1 night stay. The place os in the middle of residential area basically some sort of a single family home converted into a wannabe „butique hotel”. Now, I’ve been around the world stayung at a ton of hotels but this place is at best a B&B at 1-2 star rating. Rooms are design over function, bathroom sliding doors are transparent, rooms tight, pool uninviting as you get watched from surrounding apartment buildings. What makes the place a total disaster is however the rude owner who has no clue about customer needs or satisfaction. Aggressive, impolite she attacked me and my wife as we asked for availability of gluten free bread. We were told it is not offered and WE SHOULD HAVE told her in advance as such requests never come to her. In addition she said kids are not allowed although her worker was told that our daughter is coming with us. As she continued her insane ranting, I told her on several occasions that I had not complained or said 1 wrong thing about her accommodations until she started attacking me for not being satisfied which she ignored. Stay back!…
Love this amazing little hotel! The hostess Bianca knows everything about San Sebastián and has helped us with restaurant bookings, and all questions we had during our stay. The hotel is very elegant, romantic, beautiful and has amazing service. We loved it and will come back! Breakfast is served at the table and is delicious! Great WiFi, very clean, luxurious and comfortable.
We stayed at the beautiful Villa Birdie for one week in May. It was one of the best experiences of my three decades of international travel. The Villa itself is serene, tasteful, and well-located (just a short walk from the famous Arzak restaurant and bus stops). Owner Blanca and her helper Maria were amazing, arranging travel, making recommendations, and anticipating our every need. We hated to leave. There is parking on the premises, the buses nearby run constantly, and it's very quiet. I recommend this place it most highly!
Villa Birdie was an excellent base for visiting San Sebastián, away from the busy city centre but with great public transport links. Maria and Blanca helped to make this a memorable holiday. Both work tirelessly to make sure that you have a super holiday.
During our introduction Blanca was very helpful giving ideas of what to do and what to see. Our room was clean and spot less, the pool area was as clean. The breakfast was four courses and did fill you up. We are ashamed to say that only spoke very little spanish, but Maria, who spoke no english, did her upmost to give her best service. (Blanca you need to pay her more ;) ) The Villa is not near the centre but this meant that the area was quieter. We would also recommend, on Blanca's advice, going to visit Pasai Donibane. This is a lovely area and a nice contrast with San Sebastian. Bus service is good and also a local train station that can take you to San Sebastian and Bus/Train station so you do not need a car.
BE CAREFUL DO NOT STAY HERE. The owner/manager is totally crazy. She was talking to us so rudely and she sequestered us for 2 hours because she thought I stole a book and some custards ( absolutely wrong ) She went in the room and in my luggage who was closed and then blocked us from leaving. I had to call the police to be able to leave. The police told us to press charges against her becaus she is crazy and totally illegal. She also tried to make us pay one more night because we left the room at 12:07 instead of 12. The hotel is kitsch the bedroom are very small and the pool is cold. The breakfast is disgusting. The croissants ( the only thing they give you except fruits ) are from few days ago. The hotel smells like cheap car perfume. She also confessed to my fiancé that she was a criminal. This place is not safe.…
An absolute pleasure to stay and enjoy the superb accommodation and warm welcome. Blanca is wonderful and very charming. Born in San Sebastián and ensures you pick out the best places to go. The place is absolutely spotless. Maria works tirelessly to provide a four course breakfast and copious amounts of tea and coffee. Don’t be concerned it’s a little out of town - that’s the advantage of staying there. We had two rooms for three nights - we didn’t want to leave!
