Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We completed a terrific vacation to the Northern part of Spain and spent our last nights in San Sebastián. My wife booked us into this place by merely looking at their site. But it truly does not do justice to what is really there. Albeit it is located a few miles outside the city but talk about a stunning surprise. It is a family owned place that has been totally and tastefully restored. The rooms are very, very nice but what really sets this place apart is the people serving it’s guests. They are warm, personable and genuinely care about the guests needs. The facility was very nice with both inside and outside dining areas. Breakfast and dinner is available if you desire. Or you can merely sit around with family or friends play cards and enjoy a glass (or bottle) of delicious wine. We are long time visitors to many parts of Spain, and we are DEFINITELY entertaining the idea of returning for a much longer stay. Do not miss this place if visiting the area.

What a fresh and lovely setting we arrived at! Set in a historic building that has been in the family for years, we were welcomed by Arancia in a way that made you feel most welcome. The room was fantastic, and the bathroom even more. Spot clean, fresh scent. Lovely. The elevator was a bonus point in bringing the suitcases up.
As for the breakfast, I truly don’t think you can find any better. Fresh juice, fresh bread and croissants, homemade cake and oat cookies, jam, fruits to choose from. All brought to the table because of Covid regulations. Doors open, distance. Perfect!
Highly recommend this lovely place at about 10 minutes drive from San Sebastián, but set in a tranquil environment 💚

This is an excellent find a bit off the beaten path in San Sebastián but well worth the effort. The staff was amazing, the room very comfortable and well appointed, and the buffet breakfast excellent. The view, just above the city in the greenbelt, was gorgeous, and the grounds stunning and walkable. Getting to town is a 10 minute walk to the bus stop that runs.every 20-30 minutes, a 1.85€ fare, and scenic 20 minute ride. We loved every minute of it!

This is a great place to stay. Top marks for style, comfort and facilities - and service - the owners demonstrate great care and generosity. For us, it was an ideal place to base our stay, not just for San Sebastian but also travelling by car we could easily visit places such as Pamplona during the day, return to the hotel late afternoon to leave the car and catch a 20 min bus ride to San Sebastian to swim in the sea in the late afternoon sun. A very flexible location and a perfect stay.

The photos of this property do not do it justice. Every corner is elegant and tasteful, warm and serene. We can't say enough about the gracious sisters who own and run the hotel, which was their grandparents' farmhouse. We stayed in the family room - spacious with a seating area and desk. Bathrooms very modern. We ate dinner one night at the property. They don't claim to be a gourmet restaurant but after a long day of sightseeing and gloomy weather, it was lovely to be able to stay in and enjoy a simple, but delicious and very reasonably priced dinner.
We much preferred staying here to the noisy hustle and bustle of San Sebastian. Our favorite hotel during our several weeks in Spain.

This was a remarkable experience. The hotel is an absolutely beautiful facility and the husband and wife team who run the place are extremely cordial and friendly. The setting is just outside the city of San Sebastián which is conveniently accessed by bus. I had a particularly thorny problem with a rental care, which was only resolved through the extensive intervention of the owners. This place is simply first-rate and my wife and I heartily recommend it. I would go back in a flash.

We just enjoyed an incredible five nights at this restful hotel surrounded by beautiful farmland. The service couldn’t be better. Lovely breakfast, coffee/tea station, wines and dinners available. The outside patio was a soothing, relaxing place to unwind after a busy day of exploring. We would love to return one day. The two sisters who run the hotel treat you like family. Thank you so much!

Really lovely place just outside of San Sebastian. The owners couldn’t do more for us. You will have to taxi/bus into town but that’s easy to do, and worth it for the peace and quiet. Great breakfast as well, and all spotlessly clean. Would 100% recommend

Normally only two stars might deter me booking (as in you're not quite sure what you'll get) however the reviews for this hotel were outstanding. Driving there, you might feel like you've taken a wrong turn as it's a little rural despite being only 10 mins drive from San Sebastian. Outside and around, it looks like a very large barn in the countryside and once inside - wow - we really loved it. After staying two days, it seemed way more like a 4 star to us with great, tasteful decorating. Clean rooms. Ample breakfast and lovely owners who are ready to help with anything you need from directions to a chat. We stayed in an end room on the first floor which looked out over a small courtyard and greenery. Away from any hustle and bustle with plenty of parking and an easy drive to San Sebastian. So happy we chose Heredad de Unanue and would definitely recommend it.

We appreciate your really kind comments. We appreciate sharing our place and as people born and raised here, for us it's a real pleasure to be able to be a kind of bridge between visitors and Donostia-San Sebastian. Our goal is to help our customers to enjoy their stay, taking as much advantage as they can of the posibilities of a city like Donostia-San Sebastian. And yes, our hotel, this historical and renovated building is our place in the world, as it has been for the last 5-6 generations of our family. Thanks, MIchelle, for appreciating it and for being part of our growing family of friends of Hotel Heredad de Unanue.
