Last minute booking en route from Madrid to Torrox - good value, very clean and cheerful, helpful staff. Some way out of the city, which wasn't an issue for us as it was a quick stopover. Thoroughly enjoyable meal on the terrace in front of the hotel

This generic chain-like hotel was clean and comfortable, but a bit quirky. Although there was an entrance that didn't require negotiating steps with luggage, it was in the back of the hotel, and led into the bar. To get to registration, you had to open a nondescript door in the bar and walk down a rather unattractive hallway. The staff was courteous, but not warm. Our room was perfectly fine. The biggest drawback was location. The hotel was well outside the walled city, and navigation, even with a GPS was problematic. We found getting to and from the hotel extremely frustrating, and wished we had chosen a place with local flavor inside old Toledo. In sum, it was fine, but we wouldn't go back.

We booked our stay at La Bastida because of the reviews we read on trip advisor. We were not disappointed. This hotel is a family run business and their pride in the business shows. We booked our stay based on the reviews of their restaurant. The food is excellent. The room was very nice and very clean. The parking garage had easy access. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When we return to Toledo we will stay here again. Excellent!!!

I'm currently staying at La Bastida and rereading the reviews posted on TripAdvisor and it leaves me asking if I am staying at the same hotel as your other reviewers.
Let start with the positives - friendly, welcoming receptionist who helped us unravel the mystery of where this hotel is located. Aside from that and the secure parking the rest of the experience leaves me puzzled why anyone would rate this hotel as anything but basic.

For Americans reading this think Motel6.

The hotel has been open since 2012 and it has still not occurred to the owners that they should put a sign out front with the hotel's name on it as a means of helping guests find the place.

The location is about as charming as a strip mall in a Las Vegas housing development that went bust in 2009.

The room has the same cozy feeling as my old dorm room although no denying it is clean and well maintained. For added charm my room t is located above the restaurant's kitchen and I am listening to the kitchen crew wash dishes and pots at 11:45PM.
I'm just back from dinner in Toledo after my 30 minute walk into town along a very busy roadway with no sidewalks and my 8 Euro cab ride home. There is nothing convenient about this location.

Finally, smart move using a picture of the hotel at night - day time is a rather bleak and disappointing reality.

Which I'll get to in a minute but first, parking. You can park underground for 6 € but when we were there, there was ample free parking on the street beside the hotel. The hotel is in a residential neighborhood on the outskirts of town so it looks safe. Be advised that there is a school at the top of the hill behind the hotel so soccer moms will take the parking spots at around 5 in the afternoon and perhaps at the spainish lunch.

The hotel itself is clean, modern, and the rooms are roomy, beds comfortable. The rate we got on line was terrific. The reasons I gave this place only three stars: the password protected wifi in the room was useless to non-existent. I have come to realize this is the norm in Spain. Free wifi in hotels but weak in the rooms. It was worse than most in the room we had. Ymmv depending on the room. The safe in the room did not work or I couldn't get it to work. Only one yet I haven't conquered. And finally there was an intermittent sewer gas smell in the room, also something that is not uncommon in some spainish hotels. I guess they might skimp on traps? Other rooms may not have that problem or maybe it came with the room rate.

The morning shift women was fairly friendly and spoke some English.

Location: the hotel is actually fairly convenient to old Toledo. Most of the development seems to have taken place north of the city so this hotel is less than a mile from some free parking at the southern entrance to the town via the San Martin bridge. We had no trouble finding parking but that was in February. There is a bus that goes to town but you have to walk towards town one or two tenths of a mile to the stop.

Others have mentioned the restaurant. It is very good though a little pricy. I had my only burger in Spain there and it was "massive" as the kiwi's like to say and Also excellent. Cooked perfectly slightly pink. Don't try to eat breakfast there at 8 a.m. Because the soccer moms descend on the place after they drop their little darlings off at school and they cackle like a hen house! If they weren't so loud they'd be cute.

I liked this hotel and would have given it a higher rating but for the faults I mentioned. It was quiet though as always that depends on your neighbors and how full the place is. And the neighborhood is quiet, not like the usual canyons in crowded urban Spanish towns. Would stay there again despite everything.

We decided to take a side trip to the lovely town ofToledo for my birthday whilst staying in Spain, and pre-booked at the La Bastida.
The hotel is a modern, small-medium hotel located on a small urbanization in a semi rural position. All of the staff were friendly, and made us feel very welcome. The map and brief guide to the sights of Toledo provided by reception was very useful.
Our room was very clean, modern and tastefully decorated with a small Juliet balcony facing the rear/side of the hotel.
As parking is limited, we had no qualms about parking on the street which seemed very safe, and within view of our room.
The hotel's claim that it is within 15min walk of the city attractions, seemed a little optimistic at first due to it's semi rural location. However, because it is situated on the other side of the river from the town centre, it probably is just within 15mins. Alternatively, you can take a 3min car drive and park free opposite a bridge leading direct into the city walls.
The restaurant had a good choice of menu, and was of a good standard at a reasonable price.
Our only constructive improvements would be:
Improved directions on the website, with perhaps a larger sign for easier location.
Less obtrusive emergency light in the room as this can seem a little bright.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the La Bastida, and would definitleyreturn if in the area.

This is a very new, modern hotel on the outskirts of the old city. The staff were extremely helpful and luckily most of them spoke better English than we spoke Spanish. The room was very clean, bright and well furnished. It is situated only a few minutes from the historic city so ideal for sightseers as well as overnight, transit stays. It was excellent value too, always a bonus.

We stayed here to visit the old city of Toledo. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and large, and the breakfast was tasty. There is parking here, and we also had no trouble parking over by the medieval city. It is definitely walkable to the old city, but we collect knives and didn't want to have to hike back to the hotel with pounds of Toledo steel in our pockets! This is a nice hotel, well maintained, in a quiet location.

We booked at the Hotel La Bastida at the last minute, after a problem with another booking. We were very pleasantly surprised. This is a great, economical choice, especially for someone arriving by car because of the easy free parking. There is an air conditioned bus that stops 50 meters from the hotel every hour for an easy 8 minute, 1.4 euro, trip to the heart of the old city. We found this preferable even to a five minute move by car to the free parking area since it placed us much better in town.
Our room was spacious, immaculate, and outfitted with a safe, small refrigerator and great air conditioning. It is simple, but perfectly clean and comfortable. The breakfast is very basic, but more than adequate. If there is a drawback to this hotel, it is a lack of any services, such as supermarkets or reasonable restaurants, within walking distance and we suggest that stocking up before driving over is your best choice.
