This hotel has a perfect location just outside the city walls. Even though it is on a main road and has an unassuming entrance, once inside you're in a quiet elegant space. Our room was beautiful and spacious with the most comfortable king size bed covered in clouds of crisp white linens. Breakfast was excellent and all the staff are attentive and genuinely friendly. In particular, there is a lady at the front desk who was very helpful with restaurant recommendations. After 2 weeks on the road, I was tired with restaurant researching, so I asked her for suggestions. We tried each place and all were excellent! See my reviews under restaurants. We loved Salamanca and hope to return to the city and Hotel Rector.

We tried to stay at this hotel in October 2020 but our plans had to change as the hotel had to lockdown due to Covid 19. The hotel was extremely quiet if not empty apart from me and my wife but this did not spoil the experience. It’s seems we were the only couple travelling at this difficult time. We were given a beautiful room (20) overlooking the castle. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was beautiful and the additional touch’s such as snacks and water to take on our journey. My thanks go out to Teresa who seemed to be working 18 hours a day. If you want a location with sumptuous rooms and impeccable service with a short stroll to the main square you cannot go far wrong. Worth the money. Secure parking in hotel also available at an additional charge if required. Keep up the excellent customer service. David and Sally

I honestly can't say enough about what an excellent hotel the Hotel Rector is. I know prices can fluctuate but the night we stayed it cost less than a Holiday Inn Express in Little Rock and the little details really made it apparent why this is one of the best little hotels in Europe. Hotel Rector punches way above its price point. Fresh flowers and a welcome when you arrive at the room. Supplies for coffee and tea (not always the case at European hotels). Turn down service. Charming staff. Great location – steps from almost everything. Casa Lis and the roman bridge are right next door. Highly recommend.

This amazing hotel punches far above its weight and made for a great visit to Salamanca. The warmth and personal attention the staff showed us was far and above what we experienced at other Spanish hotels. From a bottle of chilled cava waiting in the room for us to the fresh flowers to the cheerful willingness of the staff to negotiate last-minute weekend-night dinner reservations for us at a popular spot, we couldn’t have asked for more. The breakfast spread was awesome, with unending platters of Iberian ham, smoked salmon, and breads and pastries, along with eggs cooked to order, freshly squeezed juice, and an array of jams and marmalade. Topping it off, the host met us each morning, greeting us by name, and escorting us to our table. If you don’t want to go down to the breakfast room, they’ll bring breakfast to your room … for free. Bottled mineral water in the room was free and a chocolate appeared each night with turn down service. They even gave us a bag of goodies and water when we checked out.

The hotel itself is artfully decorated and sits across the street from the edge of the old city, so getting to the main tourist sites never involved more than a 10-minute walk. The hotel has its own parking garage, but we just parked in one of the hotel’s few street spots without issue.

Perhaps the most astounding thing about the hotel was its price. It’s not “cheap” by any means, but you would pay substantially more for this kind of hotel experience anywhere else in Europe. In the U.S., you’d be paying at least three times the price to get anything close. Even then, all you'd get in the US is a sterile hotel experience. What really seals the deal for me is that Hotel Rector was a place I actually liked being in, and if I go back to Salamanca, there is a 0% chance I would stay anywhere else.

During our 10 day travel through Spain and France, we stayed at top hotels but none really compares with this little jewel. Everything is of the best quality and attention to detail. From the excellent linen quality of the beds to the impeccably dressed breakfast table, to the spotless room. The supper double glassed windows just another give away that they think about the well being of their guests. It’s a pleasure to realize that not everything in hotel business is about the money. The very kind personnel were a delight. The departing bag with water and goodies another surprise. It had impressed me 20 years ago and now even more so. Many of the hotel palaces of this world don’t come close. This is what ‘’Hôtellerie‘’ is all about.

We stayed for one night with our young family on a stop over in Salamanca. From the time we made the reservation to leaving the hotel customer service was simply outstanding! The kids absolutely loved the hotel as did we. They couldn’t have been any more welcoming!

Pre arrival we received an email confirming our booking and agreeing to a car space reservation. Whilst making our way to the hotel we had a super friendly Whatsapp message reminding us of our reservation and asking the exact room temperature we would like.

When we arrived it was simply overwhelming customer services. We were welcomed into the car park by reception who took our bags. We were given a complete guide to the hotel and area with lots of info on the local area. The kids were made a fuss off and instantly felt relaxed!

Our room was accessed from a private corridor with two bedrooms and two baths rooms. In our room we found a bottle of cava on ice and a personalised note welcoming us. There were also a range of small snacks. The cava was excellent🤩. So nice we took a photo of the label.

The rooms were well maintained and very homely. The beds were so comfortable and both rooms had TV with UK channels, plus Disney and Netflix. The wifi was very fast and I was able to update some work whilst we got ready to go out!

The hotel is within easy walking distance of all
the major attractions. Totally delightful!

When we got back from our dinner the kids were super excited to find they’d been left a brand new Hotel Rector teddy bear each on their beds ! There was a lovely note wishing them sweet dreams. In our room the bed had been turned down and water was left by the bed.

Breakfast was Covid safe. We picked a time slot and were the only guests in the room. We had a personalised buffet just for us. It was wonderful. Lots of attention to detail and service again.

When we left the staff gave us a bag with water and snacks for the journey.

We spotted a lovely gym and an electric car charging point in the garage.

I cannot express how amazing the attention to detail and customer service is at Hotel Rector! It’s quite luxurious, there’s only a handful of rooms making it feel very safe and homely. I’d happily stay there again and so would the kids. They think it’s the best hotel ever!

If you want a hotel close to the centre with lots of character and amazing service this is the hotel for you!! Thanks for a great stay!! We will be back. 👏💕🏨

The hotel is fine five star class type. with service to top it. The location is right near the old city and the rooms are grand and the style us classic European .
You can sense you are in Spain. I am so tired of the new style modern hotel love the class act touches .
The outside is like old fashion castle .
The rom is on a large size , bathroom is large with bath and shower and two sinks of grand Marbel.
The lobby feels elegant and the hotel super nice owner welcomed us.
Book it you will not regret.
I am not easy to give 5 stars.

We stayed here for three nights, and we can honestly say it was one of the most wonderful experiences we have ever had.

The elegant, historical hotel is in an excellent location must across the road from the old city.

The rooms were beautiful, very quiet and spacious.

The service was impeccable and perfect in every way. On arrival we received really good tips and recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants in beautiful Salamanca. Our car was parked for us in the garage, luggage taken to our room, and we were greeted with a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine on ice in our room. We had treats and water in our room each day.

The breakfast was delicious, a real treat.

We were given water and snacks for our journey on departure.

The friendly hotel team really made us feel welcome and the attention to detail was amazing.

Hotel Rector is one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The Hotel Rector experience is gracious and elegant from start to finish. The staff, to a person, is attentive without being cloying or overbearing. Upon arrival, when I walked up to the hotel entrance, a member of the staff came out to greet me and help me with my bags before I even opened the door. Entering my room, I received a quick orientation to its features from a staff member. I knew I was “at home” when I saw a bottle of cava on ice, compliments of the hotel. The turndown service is impeccable; this includes having the blinds closed in such a way that absolutely no light enters the room. My bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom well appointed. When I left the hotel, the staff gave me a little bag with water and snacks for my journey. The location is excellent, with easy access to all of Salamanca’s attractions. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation to anyone.

Hola. Vdes tienen una piscina ??
Answer from Propiedad Hotel

Depending on time of day I would allow at least three hours. We drove to Madrid airport in early morning and encountered heavy traffic approaching Madrid since it was a workday. It took about 3 hours and 20 minutes more or less.

The Hotel and the town are well worth a visit. We were driving through so chose it as an overnight stop off to break a long car trip. It would probably be about 90 minutes to tow hour drive from Madrid.
