AWA is a great hostel to stay at. The location is just perfect, you can walk a few minutes to las ramblas, the central place of Barcelona. The rooms are just ok, the basic to sleep. The owner is very nice and he can get us tickets for great parties. There is no breakfast, but you can keep your food...

The people i met there were really nice BUT the hostel was not good at all. Very expensive for the facilities that offers. Very dirty, even our clothes smelled like that after we left. I couldn't use the sheets that i was given and there was no blanket. I was lucky i had my sleeping bag with me. The wc...

Good location right on la ramblas, only thing worth the value. Also the living room made it easy to meet people which was def one of the highlights of the night. But overall bad experience because the person that runs the hostel is an idiot. He ruined all our clothes while washing it. I suggested washing it myself but he...

Only location of the hostel was as it is stated in their offering. There are no rooms with bathrooms (even though they offer it), rooms are facing a super loud street. Very small rooms. 24/7 reception is a lie - there is one guy working and sleeping in the hostel and is expected to be awake 24h per day but...

We were in the AWA for a university course with a group of 18 people. First we did not get what we booked and had to take a 6 and a 10 bed dorm room instead of 3x6 bed dorms after 3 hours of discussion instead of sightseeing. Then we got only 2 house keys for the ten people. As...

Went here last week with my spouse. We stayed for 3 nights and slept one. The "host" was playing weird ambient music through the night really loud, and drunken people were screaming etc. In general, this is a hostel for very young people, who do not spend time at the hostel. It's basiclly a very "hippie" hostel. The lock on...

It's a cheap option for people staying in dorms. You are more like a guest in someone's house here than in a hostel. It's a small space so you will interact with other travelers and staff. It was warm in the spring so it probably wouldn't be best to stay in the summer. It's a really fantastic location, walking distance...

My friend and I stayed in a private room here last year and were pretty shocked, the large double room with balcony that we booked at the living room hostel turned out to be a cramped skanky room on this hostel, right next to the kitchen and the air conditioning consisted of a window looking out onto a gap between...

Staying in Gracia

Neighbourhood Profile
Gracia
Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to be an independent town until late into the 19th century. Though it’s just a short commute away from the centre, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many international artists to this area, resulting in a wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the vibrant Gracia’s plaças, where young and old gather to enjoy a drink outside. Carrer de Verdi, its main street, offers affordable restaurants and a movie theatre that screens new as well as classic films in their original language. However Gracia's greatest treasure lies just up the hill at Guell Park, where Antoni Gaudi's vibrant and revolutionary art sculptures stand atop unequaled views of Barcelona.
