I initially chose Hotel Balmoral based on location and price. My daughter was moving into an apartment up the street and I wanted to be close as I would be going back and forth a lot. Compared to some of the other hotels in the area it was very reasonably priced. I was allowed to check-in a bit early which was very helpful and given a room on the backside of the hotel. The room was a good size, the furniture was very nice I had everything I needed, plus a small terrace that I wasn't expecting - a wonderful surprise. The bathroom was large with a tub/shower and a bidet, the towels were very thick and luxurious. It was extremely quiet and I slept well. The room and hotel were very clean. Because of the hours I kept, I did not try any other of the amenities the hotel had to offer so I can not comment on those. The staff was friendly and the location of the hotel for shopping, dining, and transportation could not be better! I definitely plan to stay at Hotel Balmoral when I return to Barcelona soon, it is a great little hotel and I believe should have a much higher rating.

From the moment we arrived and were assisted with our bags from the taxi to the reception, the staff could not have been more helpful.
Our room was clean and comfortable for our week's stay.
The choice for breakfast was the best I have come across in a Spanish hotel with a plentiful choice to go at. As our stay was in April 2022 some Covid precautions were still in place. One which certainly impressed me was the individual serving tongs for every diner to serve themselves at the buffet.
The hotel is also within easy walking distance of a great selection of bars and restaurants.

We were really impressed by this hotel, we were politely greeted on arrival and had someone help us with our luggage. We only booked a basic room but it was really spacious and had everything we needed. The room was cleaned beautifully every day and the general presentation of the hotel was stunning. It was also an ideal location for access to Barcelona’s sights, only an 8-minute walk to the nearest metro station, and about a 30-40 minute walk to Sagrada Familia, Barcelona Cathedral, Park Güell and Ciutadella Park, so you can walk to most places if you wish.

Room far to small and inadequate to say the least for 3 adults. Lack of understanding in the English language even though I was in Spain. Requested an extra pillow 4 times to be woke up the first night at 10.30pm to ask what was it I had requested. Finally somebody came to my crowded room and explained that extra pillows could be found in the wardrobe. I invited him in to show that no pillows were in there to then be told that non were available because the hotel was full. With soaring temperatures outside the maid decided to turn off the ac and open a window. The result was that when I came back after a days sightseeing my room was like the surface of the sun! Not only that but she took the keys out of the room and as a result I had to go to reception and after queuing got them back and reactivated. Not only that we we're only left 2 bathtowels for the 3 of us and no hand towels. As for breakfast give it a miss. Overpriced. Go over the road to the coffee shop. Apart from that it had a food central location and was clean and tidy.

Choose this hotel for the location which did not disappoint, it is only a short walk to the shops and restaurants .
Overall the hotel is nice but rooms are small if travelling with more that two adults, there were 3 adults in our room so I ended up with the day bed which was fine as I can sleep anywhere but we asked for an extra pillow not once but four times at reception once over the phone which they must not have understood as they sent someone up at 23 30 to check what we wanted still didn’t get an extra pillow. On the final night again got a knock on the door to be told there are extra pillows in the wardrobe which there weren’t he even got invited in to check himself as I don’t think he believed us, he then told us the hotel was full and he had no extra pillows, so no pillow just a sore neck
Don’t bother with the breakfast we thought it was a bit pricey and there is a cafe bar across the road for coffee and sandwiches

They all do it, put a heavy blanket in a duvet that you have to take apart to adjust the temperature.
The problem we had was with the soap and body wash in the tub. You had to squeeze the dispenser so hard that it took both my hands, then the soap landed in the tub, and I had to scrape it off the floor of the tub. Not enough grab bars, toilet paper in an awkward spot. Luckily PEDRO at the front desk gave me some individual body wash and shampoo like I am used to getting in normal hotels. If you do not have arthritic hands, you may be able to dispense the soap with one and and catch it in the other.

The hotel is in an excellent position to explore Barcelona, buses stop right outside that go to the Place Catalunya every few minutes and from there the metro and buses seem to go everywhere. Via Augusta is quiet at night either that or the double glazing is exceptionally good and our room was on the 8th floor, room 800 and had an enormous balcony with a wall high enough to be safe for toddlers and tipsy adults. The bed (2 singles pushed together) was certainly big enough and the memory mattresses was firm but comfortable. The only gripe was the style of pillows which didn’t suit me though my wife found them fine,
The bath/shower was very comfortable with lots of hot water, though filling a bath is hilarious if your not the first to use it, showers are not a problem!
The room was cleaned every day to a high standard.
Staff are helpful, polite and professional.
Breakfast is excellent and good value though the bakery opposite is also good if you want a sweet breakfast. All in all a very nice hotel and we will return.

I spent two nights in this hotel. I was in town for business and unfortunately I did not find the amenities I needed. First of all the Wi-Fi is totally weak and not reliable. I had to make a few important meetings in my room and I line was so weak I was not able to use teams for video call. Same thing with my iPad, impossible to watch a movie on Netflix.
My room
Was quite small and without a desk or table. My Company booked paying the corporate fare (and hire high) and I got a small room on the second floor viewing the back of the building.
Breakfast was average but very busy at 8 am and did not see any quick refill on the buffet tables for the time I was there.
Overall the hotel looks elegant and is located in a very nice area, quite strategic if you would like to walk everywhere.

My son and I booked this hotel solely based on the pictures. We were very impressed with the beautiful lobby. Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile and quickly assigned to our room. During our stay we had many questions regarding dining and site seeing and the hotel staff went out of their way to help. I would highly recommend this hotel.
