Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.

Quaint elevator took us to fourth floor and our very clean and quiet room. Beware, the blackout drapes make it easy to oversleep! The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. The location is excellent; in easy reach of Casa Batllo, La Pedrera, Picasso museum, ramblas, etc.

Second time at this hotel, and we will get back. The location is superb for arriving with Aerobus from the airport, using metro from Plaça de Catalunya, enjoying the "musts" in Barcelona and sleeping well. The small street Carrer de Bergara is not too busy during the night so

Do all balconies overlook the street for people watching?
It might be half and half - and the higher up you go, the less street -action/people-watching - But walking the Rambla will solve that.

There is underground parking just outside the front door. It does not belong to the hotel but the hotel do have an arrangement with the parking lot to give discounted parking for guests at the hotel. You can also leave your car there on the day you check out until 11pm. We paid €52 to the hotel to park for two days. We didn't use our hire car once while in the city as the hop on/off bus was great for getting to all the top spots.
