We stayed just one night but intend returning very soon. You would never notice the Hostal Oliva as it is almost completely hidden. You have to ring the bell and the door then clicks open. Up just a few steps is the charming, tiny lift. Nothing tells you but the reception is on the 4th floor. The decor on the...

I merely chose this hostal based on the excellent reviews and i was happy that i did. I booked a quad room for the 4 of us. We arrived at around 8am which was way early than the check-in time. Upon arrival, the room was ready and we we allowed in. So we had good rest before going out. The...

We have stayed in a number of different (and high-end) hotels in Barcelona, but we keep returning to this reasonably priced and brilliantly situated family-run hostal. It ticks all the boxes for a couple of nights in Barcelona - clean, comfortable and convenient.

Very friendly and helpful family run Hostal in an excellent location. The Passeig de Gracia metro and mainline stations are very close by. From the mainline station there are trains direct to the airport, Barcelona Sants, Franca and out to Montmello if you want to go to any of the events at the Circuit de Catalunya such as the Spanish...

My wife and I stayed at Hostal Oliva for three nights in early October. It was perfect for us. We'd asked for a quite room off the street, which was not a problem. Comfortable beds, nice bathroom, great stay. Very friendly owners and staff. You have to ring a buzzer to be admitted, but it never took more than a...

I think it is fair quality/price It is clean.. Friendly Receptionist. Near to pg Garcia metro station. You can find many restaurants around. The only thing is that the reception was in the 4th floor and it took me a while to discover it since there is no labeling for that.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and absolutely loved it here!! It's extremely cozy and lovely. There's an old fashioned elevator to get to the fourth floor that was always quick. You had to be buzzed in to the building but again they were always fast to let you in and waiting for when you get out...

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. It is im downtown Barcelona near the metro and everything you need. It is on the fourth floor of a gorgeous old building and you ascend in a quaint old elevator. Our room was a corner room, huge big windows a little noisy at night. Definitely a great experience.

Staying in Eixample

Neighbourhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.

A pretty, vintage wooden elevator with a bench and a looking glass takes you in stately manner to the top floor of the beautiful and courtly eixample building where the Hostal Oliva has been located since it was founded, back in 1931.Renovations have been made carefully to enhance the facilities of our Hostal without losing its vintage atmosphere, that unique character that has made Hostal Oliva highly appreciated by our guests through the years. The Hostal Oliva is run by forthcoming, charming staff who take wonderful care of our guests with a personal feeling which you will find most attractive. Both our friendly ambience along with the overall atmosphere of intimacy and tranquility that you will find here, are willing to help making your visit to Barcelona a delightful and unforgettable experience. Its unsurpassable location on the most splendid of the Eixample avenues, the pricey Passeig de Gràcia, makes Hostal Oliva the best bet for those who are searching for a budget place to stay, but are also concerned about looks, safety, character and a central position. ... more   less
