Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Won't return. After our third trip to this hotel, I was upset I was charged for a third room for my 10 year old son. I never received the door key and hence the room was never accessed but we paid for an extra room for a 4 day stay with my husband and 3 children.

From the early morning greeting by Carlos, the night clerk, to the goodbye handshake of the security guard, everyone at the hotel made my stay a delight. You would expect a respected hotel to provide the basic services, but in all my travels, it is the staff that make a hotel special. And at the Barcelona Catedral they went out of their way to make sure that this solo traveler was made to feel welcome. Each morning, I had one of the hotel’s ample and delicious breakfasts setting me up for a full day of sightseeing. And at the end of the day, a relaxing small meal with staff making sure that I had all I required. I highly recommend the Barcelona Catedral for travelers seeking a centrally located hotel that goes out of its way to make sure your stay is safe, comfortable and stress-free.

Hotel was in a great location which was across from the cathedral. We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were also spacious for European hotels. Reception team was very accomodating. Hotel also offered a complimentary wine and cheese every day at 5:15.

Great location for sights and all Barcelona has to offer. Air con not controlled by each room but by the hotel, therefore if like me you need your room to be cool to be comfortable you may be out of luck. Due to its central location if you have windows open over night to try and cool the room it is very noisy and ensures you return from your trip tired and in need of a holiday!!

Worst hotel i’ve ever stayed at. The shower did not work. It just dribbled water. Also, like everyone else said, the AC doesn’t work. It emitted heat even when our thermostat was set to 5C. Save your money and go to a different hotel. Truly the worst.

Stayed here for 4 nights. The location could not have been better. Central to everything with easy access to the transport system. The staff were great, and I would recommend the complimentary guided walk of the gothic quarter on a Wednesday evening (a big mention for Sergi the guide) as there is so much history on the hotels doorstep.

Wonderful and quiet hotel in the heart of the gothic quarter but very close to all the action and La Rambla. Comfiest pillows, spotlessly clean, friendly staff. Beautiful breakfast too - lots of choice to set you up for the day. Highly recommend this hotel for a quiet sanctuary after a busy day.

Fantastic mid price hotel with a brilliant location. The room was very comfortable and beautifully clean. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Absolutely could not fault them. Every evening at 5 pm there is a free cheese and wine tasting which was lovely after a long day of sight seeing. Drinks at the bar are very reasonably priced. They also offer free walking tours on a Sunday and a Wednesday. We were lucky enough to join the tour of the Gothic Quarter led by Sergi on Wednesday evening. What a brilliant tour guide and fantastically well spoken and interesting person. I can't believe this is offered for free. Would not hesitate to stay here again. My only very minor gripe is that for me the rooms (even in February) got a little warm over-night and air conditioning was not available at this time of the year. The windows opened which helped but it was a little noisy (only with open windows). It wouldn't stop me booking again as everything else was fantastic but just something to be aware of if you're sensitive to it being a bit warm. Thank you for an excellent holiday.

Loved this place! It’s in a great position for sight seeing… simply stroll out of the door into the beautiful gothic quarter with an abundance of lovely little tapas bars and interesting shops. Easy vantage point to get around to the other sights… walking distance to the water front and Picasso museum. The hotel itself is sparkling clean and the staff are lovely and friendly. Especially Hector at breakfast! I was with my elderly mother and she was well looked after. The room was incredibly comfortable and the breakfast was amazing! All at an incredibly cheap price. Thank you!

Great mid priced hotel.Great location in the gothic district. Easy to get to everywhere from this hotel.Lots of bars and restaurants in the area.Hotel rooms great and bed very comfy.Staff are very friendly and efficient. We had paid for breakfast which was plentiful but noticed various places around that charged a lot less if you do not want to eat breakfast at hotel. As we were only in Barcelona for the weekend we preferred breakfast in hotel to make the most of our time.Would highly recommend this hotel and would visit again if ever in Barcelona again.
