We had to pay everything in advance. The room was small in the ground floor and had no windows (only one ceiling one - very big and you can't cover it. It was very humid and we only got two towels for the whole stay and they did not get dry in two whole days. One night it was raining... More

My sister and I loved it. The location was great for access to local eateries with authentic and tasty Spanish cuisine. It is also close to markets where we found everything we needed for cooking in the well-appointed kitchen, which also gave us an opportunity to meet other travellers from different countries. The artwork displayed all over added a unique... More

I liked it, my boyfriend wasn't as keen but you get what you pay for and the location was great to walk everywhere. Liked the fact it had a kitchen and we just about had the place to ourselves. Felt sorry for the cat, she needed attention and care!We were there in a cooler month, may not be as pleasant... More

Good: location is excellent, house and interior authentic, self-catering equipment available, although English language of staff is not the best the woman was friendly and approachable. Bad: COCKROACHES, uncomfortable bed, room with a window to nowhere, smelly due to the lack of fresh air despite the ac.

I stayed there last autumn. It is in the heart of the old quarter, the market is very close, also a lot of restaurants and bars around. Helpful owners and nice room. I also liked that the owners cooked a very nice paella for us.

GOOD - quite well located (near Gothic neighbourhood, 10 minutes walking to Gothic Cathedral) - nice experience if you want to get more familiar to how all these 18th century houses in the Gothic area look like inside - kind hosts, giving useful advice; they even know Romanian! :) - bed sheets are clean, the room is also clean BAD... Barcelona in October is really nice, you still can go to the beach. There are less tourists around. Our hostel was clean and the owners were friendly with us. We had to call the when we arrive and they come in short time to give us the keys. After that we were free to come and go no matter what time... More

Too noisy, too wet, too many insects. Not clean. And price was not the lowest... Stuff is not helpful. WiFi was weak and I had to reboot acsess point two times for myself. Power went off 2 times. I dislike my stay here. Pros: local food markets are in 200 meters, lots of bars and restaurants and metro are also... More

We (family w/ 2 children) stayed 5 nights in the large room and enjoyed it. It was as I expected: an authentic house in the center of Barcelona. A bit noisy of course but no problem if you follow the Spanish time (nap in afternoon and stay late outside in the evening...). It was clean and owners are helpful.

If you want a modern hotel, don't go here. It was very good value for a group, the furnishings are a bit quirky, but in a nice way. All very clean. The kitchen was great for breakfast, and had a big fridge so we could store food for lunches. Great restaurants and bars and shops nearby. The owner collected us... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
