Pro’s Communication (I booked via Booking.com) and a guy called Paolo responded swiftly and patiently. The hostess lady Bahar was very friendly and helpful. She went out of her way to see if I have everything I need and she even recommended social events she thought I may enjoy. She is the highlight of this place. The room was clean and cleaned daily. It is a very pretty neighborhood with beautiful old buildings. The place is within easy walking distance as well as metro access to all the major attractions and this is this would be the best reason for booking here. You get a daily meal voucher for a café across the road where they serve a choice of coffee, orange juice and a basic sandwich (cheese or meat on a roll) OR churros and hot chocolate. This was nice and the staff was helpful. Cons Yes my room and shower was small but there was a built-in cupboard and it is standard for this category of accommodation to have limited space. The acoustics means you hear everyone in the rest of the accommodation, arriving, leaving, talking in their room, using the bathroom. The management has a policy posted in the rooms to consider this and their only other solution would be to somehow soundproof the establishment. There is no escalator as it is a very old building so in typical european style there are many flights of stairs (I think about 5 or 6) that are super narrow and steep. If you are old, fat or unfit, this is not going to be easy for you and with heavy luggage it will be a challenge. There is no way around this issue for this business so consider this before booking. I had body aches in my back and hips for the first time in my life and I think it is because the mattress is not firm or the best quality. I believe it would be a good investment for them to get good quality mattresses.

The B&B has an pefect location with several of Barcelonas attractions within walkabale distances. The host, Bahar, that welcomed us the evening we arrived was very nice, giving us all required information for making our stay as good as possible. Any questions that we had during the stay where quickly answered on "WhatsApp". The room was cleaned every day and the quality of the bed was good. Slept well all three nights we stayed there. We where free to use the living room whenever we wanted, which we also did after long days of walking in the streets of the city. All in all, a very good stay!

What we liked: Great location. Rooms were cleaned every day. AC worked properly. The receptionist Bahar was extremely nice, she gave me a little detail for my birthday. We had a delayed flight and although we had to check out at 10.30 we were allowed to leave the luggage there. We charged our phones in the living room when we came back and picked up the luggage and I asked to use a bathroom and was allowed, which I appreciated. The owner recommended us a great restaurant. The caffe across the street where you can have breakfast is nice, although breakfast is insuficient. Below, a photo of the included breakfast. What we did not like: We will not complain about the dimension of the room as we were well aware. We saw pictures. However the mattress was awful in Tonga room. There were actually 2 mattresses: one on top of the other and the top one was too mellow. Most bothering thing was owner's hostile attitude when using the so called common area. I think he should clarify or decide or be more consistent on the approach of the common space. When we booked, our understanding was that we could use it and chill there and use the kitchen but it was not like that. We received 2 carton cups at the beginning and we wanted to use the glasses in the kitchen when the cardboard ones were not usable anymore. We were told the objects in the kitchen like cutlery are not common and we should use the cardboard cups throughout all the stay.. When he saw my deception he said "ok, use the glasses" but I felt already horrible. Clearly, I was deceived because we had booked this place only because we thought the living room was a nice addition to the tiny bedroom when you want to chill. I saw reviews that were saying that the common space was enjoyed and they could even prepare meals there and I saw reviews that, just like us, people did not feel welcome to use the common space. Most of the times, the owner made sure to make us feel not welcome in the common area and this strongly bad tasted in our mouth. We are not noisy, party people but the only evening we tried to stay in the living room after the incident with the glasses, we had to literally whisper because he was watching TV loud and we wanted to have a drink in there because it was my birthday and the room was depressingly small to have a birthday drink in there. We stayed 5 minutes and left him watching TV and got back to the room. All in all, the place is not worth the money we paid unless you are truly allowed to use the common space area. Otherwise, for a small uncomfortable bed and a tiny bathroom, 106 eur / night is not a fair price just for the good location. I personally, would not go back there.

First I will start by saying I know everyone has different standards when traveling. Maybe for a single young person this “b&b” would be great. It’s a budget friendly place in Barcelona which is hard to find. We are not in our 20’s and when we travel we do appreciate a nice hotel or b&b. It does not have to be luxury by any means. With that said when I was looking for a place to stay in Barcelona for a reasonable price I knew we would not get everything we are used to and I was ok with that - this place had good reviews so I thought we would be happy. The only pros of this place for my husband and I were the location. Very close walk to Casa Mila, Casa Batlo and in the safe area of Gracia. Now the cons for us: Very tiny shower (I am petite so for me to say this it’s bad) Shower was so small could barely turn and when you did the water would turn off. No soap tray or place to put anything in the shower. 8 sets of very narrow stairs (to the top loft) with a light timer that would turn off halfway up the stairs. A bed and breakfast for is usually would include someone making us a delicious breakfast - not here. Cheese, ham and toast or cereal and coffee. That’s it. We only ate breakfast one morning there. There are coffee shops and bakeries nearby and we choose that option instead. No one spoke English except Sergi. Never even met Laura (the owner). Usually at any b&b we are greeted by the owner upon arrival or the next morning. Never happened. Room was never cleaned - we were asked the first morning we were there by a young girl and we said no as we had just gotten there. Never asked again nor was any attempt made to come clean the room while we were out. Couldn’t get into main room with key given to even get a drink at any time. No toiletries provided (which is not a huge thing but just thought I’d let you all know). Lighting in room was horrible. Noise in room from the back and front. For the price paid to stay here we could have probably stayed at a hostal and been happier. This was my 40th birthday trip and the last leg of a wonderful Spain trip and I was not happy to end it at this B&B.

Response from PAOLOK11, Propietario at Nisia Bed & Breakfast
Responded 25 Oct 2019
Dear Michelle, we really appreciate your feedback that push us to improve our services and communication. Just let us point out some things to let the other guests properly understand, first of all you but don't stay at Nisia B&B but in a separate flat the isn't our B&B. When you wrote us asking for availability we clearly answered that we were full. We thought to help you to find a budget accommodation in peak season in center BARCELONA offering you a separate flat with kitchen. We also pointed out in the first e-mail about the stairs and the lack of a lift in the ancient building. You rented a flat only for you and not a B&B, so you have a complete kitchen a small TV and really more space and privacy than a regular room in Bcn but not particular services. We also organized a private pickup at the airport for you without any extra charge added to ther egular fare, and the person who welcomed you speaks : Spanish, English, Russian and a little Japanese. It’s normal that other people in the building speak Spanish but they alweays try to make the best to communicate with the guests. Any way we and Serhiy were always available by mail, WhatsApp or phone for any incidence and you have a free wi-fi conncetion in the flat, no messages were sent. We live in the same building but for the above mentioned reasons (you rented a separate flat) we have no chance to met you and we really apologize for this if contacted with us during your stay we would have been happy to help. About the shower width we are sorry if you didn’t find it comfortable but we tried to put all the facilities like : kitchen, fridge, dining table, armchair a big bed and a complete bathroom also in small place. We have to refuse many booking requests for impossibility to accomodate so many people in our small apartment so we have no need to be inaccurate in our communication. Your feedback will be important for us to improve even more our communication. Kind regards

This little B&B is located right in the center of Barcelona at walkable distance to most of attractions, Sagrada Família, Park Guell, downtown centro, metro and bus station. The room is clean with included bathroom. There is a shared kitchen and living room. The breakfast is simple with coffee, milk, juice, cereal, yogurt, bread, ham, cheese but if you prefer something else there are several markets and bakeries around, very convenient. The only downside is its front door is just a little tiny gate entrance between the shops without any sign of the place just the street number. You need to make sure you arrange the arrival time with the owner, Laura, to make sure she waits for you. There are 3 buttons-1st Primary (Owner living unit), 2nd has Laura Nisia’s name but that is the unit that renters occupy (with a little office) so if nobody answers when you pressed the 2nd button then try the 1st button. We happened to be at home one day and the doorbell rang couple times but no one answered, I looked down the balcony and realized that there were new arrivals with suitcases and about to leave since no one responded so i came down to open the door and called the owner. Be also prepared that there are small and several staircases up to 2nd or 3rd floor. Other than that it is a great place to be at the bargain price.

I was unfamiliar with Barcelona & was so glad to find this little spot, away from the tourists but only a minute or two from the Diagonal Metro stop. Don't be put off by the dark narrow entrance and stairs that climb seemingly forever--you'll arrive at a sunny common area and a secure, bright bedroom with its own shower and toilet. There are 3 or 4 rooms, and everyone was very considerate about noise levels. Everything is scrupulously clean and the staff are friendly; most of them don't speak English but the contact person is fluent. Breakfast is adequate but welcome as there don't seem to be a lot of options nearby. Things to be aware of: make sure you have good cell coverage because you'll need to text someone to meet you and let you in. It's no fun to haul heavy luggage up those long narrow stairs. Finally, the shower stall is smaller than a phone booth and the toilet space is about as wide as a restroom stall--but shorter. I'm a petite person and I fit ok, but I can't imagine a typical-size American man being happy with these constraints. If none of those things bother you, give Nisia a try.

Nisia B&B is excellent! Lovely home, delightful staff, perfect location. The breakfast is very convenient, and the living area is quite pleasant. It's very quiet at night. They even scheduled a taxi for my trip back to the airport. I would definitely stay there again!

My husband and I visited Barcelona at the end of August in 2018. We stayed in Nisia for two days. It was a delightful experience. The whole family is friendly and helpful. They went out of their ways to help us with the information in order to tour the area. Also, the location is great, quiet but very close to downtown area.

Daniela ( housekeper/room manager ) was a delightful hostess! Breakfast is pretty early. I think it was 8:30. There was coffee, tea, yogurt, cold meats and cheese with bread. The room is cleaned during breakfast. It was an early start to a great days in Gràcia which is a fabulous neighborhood with easy access to all of Barcelona. There is a TV in the common area and free WiFi and air conditioning. Nisia has everything you’d want in a B&B!
