Just arrived back from a really nice 4 nights stay in Barcelona. Overall, we had a lovely stay at the Hotel 54., no problems at all. Don't be put off by previous negative reviews... at the end of the day; you get what you pay for. For less than £100 per night in Barcelona... what do people expect?
As we arrived at the hotel (around 11am) from an early flight, our room was not ready for us. This wasn't a problem for us, we were happy to head off and explore for a few hours, albeit in the rain! The lady on the hotel reception had actually tried calling us and emailing about an hour later to let us know she had managed to get a room ready early for us.
Room was cleaned each day, towels changed daily too. Comfy bed and a nice Juliette balcony. Really big rainfall type shower, always lovely and hot. Only odd thing about the room was the glass around the bathroom, it didn't bother us too much, but it did shed some light through on a night time from outside.
Location was great; 5 minute walk to the beach, 15/20 minute stroll to La Rambla. We enjoyed staying a little away from La Rambla, as it was more relaxing and not as frantic and the main tourist area. Some nice restaurants in La Barceloneta area if you like seafood. Breakfast was nice and simple, croissants, omelete, coffee, juice. Due to Covid this was waiter service,
We had an early start on our last day. The chaps on reception/ breakfast duty, kindly provided us with some croissants and juice to take away with us. Nice touch.

Hotel 54 is in a great location for all that a visitor might want to do when visiting this great city. Out of the hotel and down a side street and you are at the beach. Marina across the street. Barceloneta metro a short walk away. The staff are friendly and obliging and none more so than Salvador. While the location is appealing and the staff friendly and attentive, the hotel is tired and just about 3 star.. The rooms are very clean and fine for a few days but the frosted glass screens separating the sleeping area from the bathroom/toilet are certainly not a good idea, and lacking in privacy. I could point out other areas where it falls a little short but it is a 3 star accomodation so you take the good points ( location) and accept the shortcomings. It is what it is.

Good location, polite staff and good cleaning. Kind of a downer that there is not a real wall around the toilet and shower. Also the it feels like the rooms could of been slightly modern as of freshness.

Super little hotel in excellent location beside one of the best shellfish restaurants in Barceloneta - El rey del gambas-.
It is front line overlooking Port Vell, easy walking to excellent choice of restaurants & quaint rustic bars.
This was our first time to stay there and we shall be back, no restaurant, well prices for the location.

The hotel does not respond to emails, nor phone calls. I booked for the period of the ban of the hotels in Spain and the hotel refuses to refund me. I booked through booking.com so I am really hoping they will be able to do something. But it just shows that they have no integrity. If you have a choice, I appeal on your human side, book elsewhere.

We recently spent a total of six nights at Hotel 54 - at the beginning and end of our trip to Spain. As others have mentioned, the hotel enjoys an unbeatable location. Everything is within easy walking distance of the hotel including famous sites, excellent restaurants and the sea.

That said, there were a couple of negatives that made for a less than enjoyable stay.
First of all, the noise was the worst we have ever experienced in any hotel and that includes hotels in Europe, Asia and North America. The walls between the rooms have no sound insulation and others' lives are yours to share... Also, there are many hard surfaces, so sound just bounces off everything. Some nights we were awakened three or four times by people slamming doors, dragging wheelie bags down the hall, and talking - sometimes at three or four in the morning.

Our room faced the marina, and was very clean. The bathroom was OK but the original shower head had been replaced by a sort of hand-held unit which meant crouching in the corner to take a proper shower. The soap was the size of a communion wafer and one of our bath towels actually had a hole in the middle of it.

As for the breakfast, it was unimaginative and very basic compared to what we were offered in other hotels we stayed at on this trip. In a country that is famous for wonderful food, this breakfast buffet offers processed meats and cheeses, wrapped croissants, watery scrambled eggs, cold baked beans and tinned peaches and pineapple. Even the orange juice is made from crystals. Some mornings we just had coffee. Certainly, nothing was worth paying an extra supplement for, which sadly we did.

Would we return to this hotel? Probably not, unless management addresses some of the obvious problems.

Trying to get refund from the hotel (or at least move the dates several months later) due to WW announced pandemic, but the hotel management does not care and encourages customers to come and spread the virus further, putting more and more people to risk. Avoid the hotel, customers need to punish such a pure unhealthy management.

I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone based on the experience I had.

Stayed at this hotel whilst working nearby. Hotel is a fair price for what you get, and reception staff were nice on arrival - BUT do not leave valuables in your room! I left my tablet locked in the hotel room safe for the 4 nights I stayed, as I only needed it for the flight. Upon going to collect this from the safe on the final morning I found the safe door ajar and tablet missing!

Reported to the hotel reception who took no interest and only called the hotel manager and police after they were continually asked too. Eventually spoke to the hotel manager on the phone as he was away, he also had no interest in the situation and did not even want to look into the issue. Sent various emails back to the hotel after arriving home and received no apology, was even told by the hotel that theft from hotel property was there fault, event though it was in the room safe they provide! They also had the cheek to say I was making up the fact it was ever there!

If you decide to stay at this hotel do so at your own risk - and most defiantly don't leave valuables in your room, especially the room 'safe'.

great location in Barceloneta near the beach but rooms average, not clean and with airco that didn't work and so on. Furthermore the staff is very rude and unfriendly. I would not recommand this hotel as there are a lot of better hotels nearby
