I booked the apartments because they are cheaper than the hotel and because I'm staying 4 days and wanted to be able to make some of my food. The room has a tiny kitchen and bath and decent-sized bedroom area. Everything was sparkling clean, including the pressed bedding. The huge windows open to let in the fresh air and beautiful...

We stayed here for 3 nights after 4 nights in Barca city and it was blissful. Do not expect luxury or chintz, these are very basic and functional monk's cells and that is reflected in the price (and in the Basilica TV channel on the television). That said, if you come prepared for that then you'll be in heaven. The...

Recommended for those who want to explore Montserrat in peace. Morning and evening are nice and quiet before tour bus hoards arrive and you don't need to be restricted by train times if you stay on site. But be forewarned that the appartments are equipped only with basic kitchen items. Also be sure you shop for supplies before you arrive...

Firstly, the location is incredible. Perched high up on the mountain, but only 45 mins from Barcelona. Lots of amazing walks, caves, hermitages, cable car and of course the monastery. Also a mecca for climbers. We chose the apartments as they were massively cheaper than the hotel, and they are more reminiscent in style of University Halls of Residence than...

we arrived at Montserrat on May 1, not realizing that this was a holiday!.. the place was very very busy... it took hours just to drive up!.. however once the crowd went home, we found the whole place very peaceful... we started early the next day at the basilica and had a long private visit with the Moreneta... it was...

For those unfamiliar with the concept of staying in pilgrimage quarters at a monastery or convent, the idea of staying at the Cel.les Abat Marcet may come as a shock: think of your first apartment after college (or maybe during college) with a basic kitchenette and a dining room-living room-TV room combination, plus a small bedroom. Then throw in crazy...

One thing to note is that there are two types of accommodation at Montserrat: the hotel and the apartments. This review is about the apartments. Although we had read not so great reviews about accommodation at Montserrat we decided to take a chance anyway because we really wanted to stay on the mountain and we were only staying two nights....

Fabulous location. But the rooms were very basic. The beds were not made when we arrived. There were not many blankets. The kitchens were not well equipped. It was not very homely. But a lot cheaper than the hotel. Oh; and the supermarket is very poorly stocked, but does have (expensive) basics, including wine and beer... Bread from the gift...

We stayed in the hotel on our first night - there's a separate review for that. At Reception the guy gave us the key when we asked him which was 4 hours early so a good start. We were very impressed when we got in there - a decent kitchen with a hob and fridge etc. A very spacious lounge...
