Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel's Favourite
My wife and I stayed for two nights in September. Unfortunately due to a user error on my behalf we arrived at the hotel but on line we had reserved a stay at a different Paradores hotel - many miles away. As we had just arrived on the ferry from Algeciras this did give us cause for concern - especially as we thought that we had lost the money that we had already paid for our reservation in the wrong hotel. But we should not have worried because the reception staff were brilliant they were able to cancel our reservation for the wrong hotel without any penalty and complete a new reservation for the right hotel !! We liked the hotel and staff so much that we decided to stay an extra night. The view from our room was fabulous and the pool was excellent. The breakfast was also very good with lots of choices and a cooked breakfast on request. Special mention for Maider Martinez and Frederico who are both a credit to the hotel and company. Maider would grace the reception of any international hotel her friendly manner and her professionalism is first class. Frederico was genuinely worried that we had arrived at the wrong hotel, he was also very professional and had a great sense of humour. The mistake that I made on the booking did give us all something to laugh about and I am sure we shall be remembered when we return for another visit as we found the hotel, and Ceuta very relaxing and a welcome break from Gibraltar.

Generally speaking the room was very good but there were certain aspects that needed updating such as the doorknobs (difficult to access the room), the toilet flush was broken, the hanger on the back of the bathroom door was broken & some of the grouting around the bath needed repair. Very spacious room but a beautiful view & a balcony overlooking the pool & mountains. Peaceful, quiet & fantastic location. The staff were welcoming & very helpful at all times.

We love Paradors, ancient and modern, but were a bit nervous as some reviews of this one not great. We didn't need to be. Located on the magnificent Plaza de Africa with its palms, exotic foliage and two church facades and just a 10 minute walk from the port, this Parador may not be one of the wealthiest but it cares for its clients as well as any other. Staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. Third floor superior double was giant and sea facing as requested (across a flat roof, a higher number than 304 may be better and overlook pool and sea). Modern bathroom with big shower. Stayed two nights on half board and both dinners and the breakfasts were excellent. Some local dishes mixed in with traditional Parador fare. Local residents seem to come to lunch and use the pool and gardens which makes it more crowded than if just for guests, but being in Africa it is off the beaten tourist track and needs to adapt its business. Public restrooms clean but some out of order signs. Our room was oddly short of a chair. Great location for the historic walls and ramparts and the shopping area in the other direction.

We kindly asked the property to cancel our stay because we had a visa issue at the Spanish borders with Morocco, the day we were supposed to have our stay : my spouse was not allowed entry, which was beyond our control. They just refused and charged us full rate. This is just called theft. The hotel that day wasn’t even fully booked, which makes their behavior even more incomprehensible !!

We were very pleased to be able to travel with our dog, and were made to feel special when we arrived to find a dog bed, water bowl, and even dog food. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. From our balcony, we had a view of the sea towards Gibraltar and Morocco. The room was spacious with lots of light. Overall, we very much enjoyed stay, and will be returning to the Parador whenever we visit Ceuta.

This is a 1960/1970s hotel which ruins what are beautiful gardens, old buildings and church’s, in the otherwise pristine square. I really want to like this place but the truth is it’s tired. The rooms are just tired with patched up holes in doors and walls and with a Corby trouser press (yes they are still out there) looking like it’s pressed its last pair of Farahs and been in retirement for some years. The lamp in the corner is leaning, Pisa style, and I am dreading waking up in the middle of the night to a cry of ‘timber’ The room was 27 degrees when I arrived so I thought I’d get the aircon switched to cold and soon be comfortable, but you can imagine my horror when all that came out was hot air and the temperature started climbing. As we all do I started pressing all the buttons and in no particular order, but to no avail, so I contacted reception only to be told it’s winter so it can’t be turned down. Fortunately I had a balcony door so I opened it just in time to her the Ceuta Sea Gulls and Scavengers choir start their evening long recital of ‘you shall have a fishy on a little dishy’ And finally the shower, it’s fair to say I had to dance a good jig to get wet. Now one thing we all like is a good shower in the morning...this unfortunately Is not that shower. So let’s take a few positives; rooms are clean and the hotel is right in the centre town. It has lovely views, very good private parking and the young lady at reception was ever so helpful.... Conclusion - no matter how much you polish a piece of coal it will never be a diamond

Booked 2 nights in Ceuta. Don't bother. Spain has ruined a small part of Morocco. The hotel was tired and l had a nice view of a car park. It is basically a Spanish free port with a few old buildings but nothing to hold your interest for more than a few hours. Booked out after one night and went back to real Spain.

Ideal location near muralla, museum, center of city (calle real). Classic look with large rooms and we had a great view overlooking Gibraltar on one side and Morocco on the other. The only opportunity is to renovate (washroom especially)
