Booked the more expensive room - a Superior Suite (about 140€/night) to celebrate our wedding anniversary on Christmas eve, having driven all the way from Meknes and a border crossing from Morocco to Spain. A very much prison warden like welcome - to be told that our request to have our Christmas eve dinner at the Hotel restaurant wasn't conaidered - they had not bothered to reply. The room was large, spacious, but not a suite for sure. The attitude was quite condescending. Subsequently we found every restaurant turning us away as they were full. Eventually had a late lunch at a lovely Chinese restaurant nearby. The streets were quite animated and packed... but magically by 10.00 everything quietened down and the whole place kind of became ghost townish. We asked for room service, only to be told off that we couldnt get anything...not even a coffee!! Finally picked up some bread n bananas and some whisky at a small conveinence store (also run by a friendly chinese couple).. spend the night very upset at the Hotel. I did go back to the Chinese restaurant who remained possibly the only place open - Really surprised by the attitude of the staff and the restaurants we tried. An Italian place next door to our Hotel was friendly, but fully booked too. One one day we did eat at a Fish place nearby, but only after veing firat turned away by one waiter, and then another waiter let us sit, like he was doing us a favour. Oh nice Ulises ..Not so nice because of the service. Location is great. A bit run down. The lifts are old and rickety. Our rooms toilet door made a racket with unoiled hinges. A smile and a little more welcoming, offering atleast some bread or a soup on Christmas eve, would have helped improve this rating.

It has a fantastic location, super central. It's not a new hotel, it needed some renovations but the room was quite spacious and clean. The hotel's swimming pool doesn't work, but guests can use the aquatic center, which is very close by. Friendly and attentive staff. Breakfast is limited but serves the purpose. They should just consider having pool towels available in the early hours of the morning and not at lunch time.

When we first arrived in our room we went out on the balcony and all the sill of the balcony was covered with bird droppings which clearly had not been cleaned in weeks. We then noticed a dead bird at the pool side, which we though would have been removed, this dead bird was left there for two days, the pool had the feathers of the dead bird in it. This shows that the pool had not been checked the whole time we were there. Breakfast was a disappointment also. We were told that we could either have a croissant or a cheese and ham small roll, one orange juice and one coffee each, my husband asked for another coffee and was told he would have to pay for it.

The hotel’s location in the city centre is its best feature. The reception and cleaning staff were very helpful, however, breakfast staff seemed stressed, unprofessional and rude so that we simply went to have breakfast elsewhere. Breakfast is included but you choose between either sweet: an old pastry or savoury: a bread roll with ham, olive oil, tomatoes. One drink per person is included but again very limited choice. The rooms are in a bad state of repair, very old, the wardrobe is an absolute joke and doesn’t provide space for 3 people or even only 2. The beds are of course twin beds and not double like in a lot of Spanish hotels. There was a nice little separate alcove set up with a bed for our daughter with her own light switch, ceiling ventilation and own TV - very appealing for elder children. The air con was very efficient and there was a quiet setting which made it possible to keep the air conditioning running without being disturbed at night. The view was good even though we had a week of levanter. The hotel is not family friendly. The swimming pool was ok but water cold as no sun reached it. The pool was only open between 4 and 6 in the afternoon which was a disappointment but the pool was in any case not an attractive area to stay for longer than 1 hour. There was no bar near the pool and the atmosphere was not very welcoming. The bathroom was very old and tiny for 3 people. Shower is in the bath tub and the water pressure is low. The WiFi was great throughout our stay. I travel a lot and this is no way a 4 star hotel. It’s not accessible for wheelchair users and even with a pram you struggle to fit into a lift. The hotel could be great but really needs a total revamp and modernisation throughout. At the moment this hotel is max 3 stars.

Very comfortable hotel, obliging staff and great value. We will definite go there whenever visiting Ceuta. It is perfectly located in the city centre, convenient to all amenities. We found it is very easy to manage our bookings and, if necessary make adjustments. Highly recommend.

We’ve stayed at this hotel twice now. It is basic, clean and reasonable in price. We got a good deal with the ferry + hotel from the mainland if Spain to Ceuta. €175 included a €16 rtn ferry (set times of course sailing) and 2 nights with breakfast. Rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast is ok but not a great choice of hot food. Will use again.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. I optimistically asked for a nice room at check-in, so we were delighted to be given room 804 on the 8th floor with fantastic views of the Mediterranean and, if the weather had been clearer, also Gibraltar and mainland Spain. The rooms have a genuine 4* feel, although I do expect a double room to contain a double bed rather than two single beds pushed together. The air conditioning is very effective and quiet enough to sleep. There could be more English-speaking television channels, despite this part of Spain not being popular with English speakers. For example, GBC from Gibraltar only 25km away wouldn't even need a satellite dish. This hotel has undoubtedly the best location in Ceuta. It is right in the middle of everything, and it takes 13 minutes to walk to or from the port with wheeled cabin baggage. There are plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby. On a more general note, Ceuta is undoubtedly the most civilised place in mainland Africa. As well as being a pleasant town, it is geopolitically very interesting, and I would highly recommend a visit, including crossing the border to Morocco for a day trip. Two nights at the Ulises Hotel are ideal for this. I am grateful for the slightly late checkout that we were afforded.

As I expected, this seemed to be an old hotel that is kept up fairly well. There were problems, but the rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. If you want to stay near the downtown area, this is the ideal hotel. The breakfast was mediocre. Our toilet seat was broken when we arrived to the room. Nothing serious, but don’t expect to be wowed. This picture of the fish tank is like a symbol of our visit - check out the dead fish floating to the top of the tank :) . Lots of highlights, but a few strange downsides here and there.

I cannot tell you enough that the staff was very courteous and customer oriented. I had two problems in my room that they immediately fixed with sincere care. Good job. The front desk was also very helpful, especially Elias that went beyond my expectations by its friendliness, service, and true care about the hotel guests. In-room food service was very well priced and of good quality, and the breakfast good (all you can eat and good variety). The location is perfect since it is in the middle of the city centre - cannot beat that and its very convenient. Now, on the down side, the hotel hallway are loud (door slamming and people could be heard) and the surrounding also very noisy since it is the city centre - the garbage truck at 00:40 am also really bothered us for 2 of our 3 night! Also, they have no fitness centre , which is a big deal for me. Nevertheless, overall it is a very good hotel.
