My husband booked us a sea-view Junior Suite in The Rock Hotel as a treat for my 45th birthday - and what a treat it is! The Rock is a stunning art deco gem. Our room is bright, spacious, and elegant. It boasts a large, comfortable bed, a small fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, and a safe in the closet. The harbour view is beautiful and can be enjoyed from our private balconies, accessed by two sets of French doors. The bathroom has a great, roomy shower with good water pressure. We enjoyed a bottle of complimentary champagne on arrival, which was a wonderful touch. There is an abundance of choice at breakfast - cerals, pastries, fried food, fruits, hams, cheese, and yoghurts. It is to be noted that while the first lift goes from the ground floor to the first floor, the reception is on a mezzanine which appears to be accessed via steps, so disabled travellers may need to be aware, although there does appear to be a button to press for attention. The hotel's pool is across the road and is definitely worth visiting, especially on a hot day. The phone in our room wasn't working, and it did take them a few days to come to fix it. But the staff have all been lovely. I will definitely return to The Rock

Stayed for 3 days and whist I have no issues with the facilities - the fact that rooms are not available until3 pm is utterly ridiculous Having travelled from 1 am by car to Manchester and flight to Gib - we arrived at the hotel at 1pm and obviously after such a long day already we were told that we could not check in for 2 hours As we visit Gib 3 or 4 times a year future we will stay at the Elliot or Sunborn

The Hotel is Iconic. It has the most amazimg Sea Views. We had two double rooms which were spacious and clean. Tea coffee making facilities which you could have topped up at anytime of the day or night. Could also ask for other items such as mint tea free of charge. The was a very useable fridge in the room which we stocked ourselves with local beer and water. The beds were extremely comfortable. The Rock Hotel Team are one of the best we have come across. nothing was too much trouble. we were always welcomed with a smile and a chat. We took our 91 year young Mother in law with us and they treated here like a queen. The consiege David and Barry helped us every day getting Mum in and out of Taxis. Helping her in the lifts etc. She is very capable so they were not patronising. The team all took an interest in our trip as it was an ancestor meet up. The room maids ensured we had everything we needed. supplied non slip bath matts for our shower trays and extra toiletries on request. We will be back soon!

We have just spent four nights at The Rock and must say our stay was excellent. Our second floor room had a lovely sunny balcony looking out towards Spain and the constantly changing merchant shipping in the bay. Our room had a very comfortable double bed, an excellent shower with endless hot water a great flow from the drench shower head . The TV in the room had literally hundreds of channels including BBC 1 , ITV , Sky etc. The food was outstanding. I recommend the ravioli as a starter. It’s a long time since I ate food with so much flavour. The breakfast options from full English to Spanish pastries and everything imaginable in between were outstanding. All of the staff were lovely and helpful and particular credit to Barry the porter who was friendly and a great source of information and also to Mr Ghazi ( after whom the hotel bar is named as an acknowledgement of his over fifty years service ) who is an absolute gentleman of the old school, smart , polite and professional. We treated ourselves to afternoon tea in the restaurant and that was perfect , a bargain at around £21 each. The pool is literally across the road and was a great place to relax, soak up the sun and even grab a light bite to eat. I would describe the hotel as four star excellence but not pretentious which allowed for a relaxing and comfortable break. The hotel is well served by the number two bus route from Market place on the route to Europa Point. The main shopping street is only a ten minute walk away from the hotel. The bus system in Gibraltar is excellent and for £6 a day you can buy a day ticket from the driver which gives you unlimited use of the entire network. The cable car to the top of the Rock of Gibraltar is only a five minute walk from the hotel. In conclusion highly recommended and great for a break.

Our stay here was top notch. Staff were beyond welcoming and everyone was so professional. Our room was spacious and the lack of a requested third bed was rectified immediately. We enjoyed drinks on the veranda as well. Only complaint was the WiFi which was slow and cut out periodically. Definitely recommend and would stay here again.

Everybody in the hotel are all pleasant and easy to talk to if problems occur, it's like being with a large friendly family. Two staff members have been there over 50 years. The food is exceptional, and they are always altering it and trying new dishes. Been twice now and would definitely go again. One big hug to the Rock Hotel + + + +

We stayed at this hotel last week (2 couples) and couldn’t fault it. The staff are amazing, so friendly and approachable. Special thanks go to David the Concierge from Bishop Auckland - thank you for saving my modesty with a safety pin and going above and beyond when my husband asked to borrow a tape measure! We were going to eat out but it was pouring down so we decided to have dinner in the hotel restaurant. So glad that we made the right decision, all 3 courses were delicious and so was the wine, service was impeccable. Our room was a reasonably priced sea view room with a balcony and comfy bed. The furniture is a little tired but didn’t spoil our stay. The employees at this hotel more than make up for it. We live in Spain, next time we’re in Gibraltar we’ll definitely stay here again.

Second time staying at this amazing hotel. We visited 2 yrs ago, and were impressed then, but this time it was even more special. I planned to propose to my partner (my perogative as its a leap yr!!) The staff were notified prior to our arrival and couldnt do enough to make our night special. On arrival, our room was ready way before check in time. Our room was sea facing, and we were greeted with a bottle of cava, and some fruit. The room was spotless and had complimentary shower gels etc. Our bags were taken to our room by a lovely gentleman. The night of the proposal, the staff reserved a lovely quiet table. Restaurant service and food are above excellent. The bar staff Christina and Victor are fantastic (as were all bar staff), but these two were so friendly and down to earth!!! We had the pleasure of meeting Abdellah Ghazi. This gentleman has now had the bar area named after him, after 50yrs of service to the Rock Hotel, started there when he was 17yrs old!!! He is the perfect maitre D, and highly respected with all staff. The weather was overcast for the 5 days we were there, but that didnt stop us from exploring this wonderful place. So much history, and beautiful gardens. A big THANK YOU to you all for making our stay so wonderful. We will return.
