Hostel simple, but perfectly located near Puerta del Sol square, where there is a subway station. The staff was helpful and friendly. Housekeeping good. Building looks old and needs some restoration. No breakfast.

I would not recommend staying here, the location is great and the rooms are fine to sleep in however the kitchen is filthy, the cleaner took my flannel and used it to clean with bleach, my toiletries were also taken from the bathroom and never found again, the service was quite rude and the sink was packed full of dirty...

Lovely hostess. Cheap room only 7 euros a night. There was a kitchen so you can make your own cereal for breakfast and whatever else. The hostess was fine about having people round for drinks or small parties/get togethers. The bath room was fine. No frills, but great price and made to feel very welcome!

I would highly recommend you to stay here. It’s very cosy and quiet place with perfect location. Just 5 min walking from Puerta del Sol y may be 25 min walking from museum Prado. It was important for me as I like walking around watching architecture and then spent enough time in the apartment. The staff is very nice. I...

I am so happy to be writing this review. My stay in the Hostal Regional brings me back to a time of travel that I thought had been lost at this point. I spent years traveling with work and stayed in dozens of Marriotts. So I understand luxury travel. This is nothing like that. They have a young girl that...

We stayed at the Hostal Regional for 4 days in December. The staff are very friendly and speak more english than most people do around the city. The Hostal is actually like a large apartment that sublets bedrooms and you use a common bathroom and kitchen. Access to a kitchen is nice but the kitchen is very poorly stocked and...

hostal is located in the heart of the city. No breakfast, but there is a kitchen for self cooking. Shower is located right in the bedroom - and this is very strange for us. The windows of the rooms that overlook the street, covered with heavy fabrics and light in the room does not get. And there are rooms where...

Nice neighborhood and location in Madrid citycenter. Near a Metro station. Lots of great shopping and dining options in and around the hostel. Easy walk to most of the museums and major sites in this beautiful city. The hostel itself is pretty average, with bathrooms and a full kitchen down the hall from our room. Access to a fridge/freezer is...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
