A stone throw from Plaza de España and Templo de Debod and quite close to the city centre. A simple bed and breakfast with a communal kitchen and free WiFi. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. A good value B&B,

The worst bed and breakfast we ever been. The room is too small for 2 persons. To ask 70 euros for two nights and offer a disgusting breakfast, and a room u barely can move with broken walls and dirt everywhere is a shame. Must be illegal. After one night, we wanted to change room because our nose were bleeding... More

the breakfast does not count as a breakfast - do not expect something edible the kitchen is dirty and you are afraid to touch anything there The worst experience of my life! I was bitten by bedbugs which were in the room. It was awful! My whole body was hurting and itching. Don't go to this place. It is not... More

The staff was extremely nice and accommodating; while my boyfriend and I got very turned around and lost, the owners of the B&B stayed up and waited until we got there way past check in time was over. Better yet, once we arrived, they treated us like family. Very welcoming!

I had an absolutely terrible experience at Blasco de Garay and would not recommend it to anyone. First of all, the land lady was complete untruthful to me, replying to my emails in English, and telling me that she spoke it when I prefaced my first email with the fact that I don't speak a wink of Spanish (I apparently... Hi I would like to make an officila complaint about the state of the BB at Madrid. I have never ever seen some place so dirty and unkept. The owner was not present. There was a person who spoke only Spanish and who on two ocasions presented himself almost naked. One of the days I have to wake him up... More

Stayed here 5 days recently and enjoyed it, not too big and not too small, with a communal kitchen, free wifi and breakfast, really couldn't ask for more for the price. Also met the owner Carol on the second night and she was really very nice. I thought the facilities were good here and was also very secure with 2... More

The place is really very nice and very cheap with all you need and close to the center! The hosts are great, I stayed in a single room for about a week and I will be happy to come back when visiting Madrid again!

Staying in Chamberi

Neighbourhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighbourhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.

“The rooms are small, with just enough room for a bed and storage for your clothes, but it was a great value! Especially if you just came for a cozy bed to crash in.”

“The double near the front door is quieter than the one next to the kitchen. The single room closest to the bathroom has access to the outside courtyard but if you're a light sleeper you may have problems with hearing the neighbours.”
