Clean and very quiet but can be hard to find, there isn't much in the way of signs. Great location though. The woman who checked me in didn't speak a lot of English but was very sweet. Staying in a 2 bed dorm with very comfortable bed and pillows. The room had it's own sink and hairdryer also a fridge...

Just like someone else said - it's like staying at your grandma's place. It has space and good amenities and lots of decoration to give it character. Great location. Great value for the price for a private room.

I stayed in Hostal Lourdes for a few days before moving into a flat for my internship. The hostel isn't going to be very modern and big considering the price you pay but for the price you pay it is amazing! Reasonably clean and the ladies that ran the hostel were so friendly, despite not speaking lots of English. Really...

This amazing little "hostal", practically on Gran Vía, was an absolute discovery. The location is amazing, and although the interior is much of a muchness, the details and little thoughtful touches are what makes this place a joy to stay at, and then there´s the very economical price... The little lady who runs place is friendly and welcoming, but also...

This pension/hostal is basically like staying in someone's apartment near Puerta del Sol. The owner, Pilar, doesn't speak much English but she's very nice, very welcoming, and provides you with a lot; the small room somehow had air conditioning, a mini-fridge, a microwave, a sink, a desk, towels and bathrobes, good wifi, etc. This was in a "dorm" room for...

The greatest feature of this place is the location, you can't be closer to the center of Madrid! The owner is a very friendly lady, our room was clean and with all needed things. Towels, bathrobes, flop flops, kitchen tools, fridge, in-room sink and hair drier. Two very clean bathrooms for a total of 8 rooms. Internet is super fast....

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
