Amazingly located right next to Puerta del Sol this hotel is just perfect! Nothing fancy but just the necessities....a clean place to sleep with a private bathroom, and most importantly air-conditioning! Staff were friendly but not very easy to communicate in English....very few people are in Madrid! I highly recommend this hotel to those looking for central accommodation at a...

And air-con! Surprisingly quiet despite being in the middle of vibrant street life. 10 minute walk to the big galleries. All sights walkable. Great city! Very helpful reception staff. Fresh ingredients for breakfast. Lovely bathroom too.

The hostel was cheap price wise and in a great location. Down side it was soooooo noisy at night till 5am there were drums and loud music outside the window of our room but I think this is the area rather than just this hostel. The lobby stank of fags and as we are non smokers wasn't that appeasing! The...

The location was great, couldn't be better. The hostal itself was very basic, and pretty much all you need as a young tourist. But! The rooms and facilities are a little ran down, and there isn't much light in the bedrooms. The staff are not pleasant at all, most of them hardly know english and are not helpful. Plus -...

Could not find a better place to stay than this....nothing elaborate but room was always clean and fresh. Reception could speak English. It's in the best part in my opinion as we were exactly in Puerto Del Sol....lovely piazza and always busy surrounded with all types of shops, restaurants, cafe's name it and you have it. Will definitely stay there...

Perfection location in the most exciting Plaza of Madrid, rooms quite small but clean, with nice design, towels could have been better. Felt safe, the person on the ringing bell always asked the room number. Good value for price. Overall, quite happy with our choice.

Second time in Madrid in one month, but first time in Hostal Victoria: everything was very nice. Room, cleaning, staff and everything we needed. The positioning is more than awesome: something like 200 meters from Puerta del Sol. At least for me and my mom it was all we wanted.

We were really suprised by the room we recived in this hostel, which was quite a hotel standard. Location was just on steps from the Puerta del Sol means one of the best for tourism purposes. The bathroom was clean and modern, beds comfortable, wifi free, we had fridge and AC and moreover a decent price. I can seriously recommend...

We stayed here because of the location and really enjoyed the hostal. It has private bathrooms and with twin beds we saved by both staying in one room. The wifi worked good and there were plenty of electric outlets in the wall to charge all our devices overnight. The shower was ok, but the shower head pointed down at a...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
