It's a very nice hotel with a great location. Rooms and bathrooms could be updated but service is great and we found it to be a good value. Returned to tge ritz in Madrid after a long time and was pleasantly surprosed, mostly by its service standards. RoomRoom as nice with an interior courtyard view and bathroom was nice of... More

We loved our stay here. The staff was extremely accommodating! The hotel was gorgeous! The history is unparalleled! The hotel will soon be renovated for a "facelift" as some of the hallways are a bit dated, but the hotel is stunning overall. We would highly recommend staying here!

The Ritz is an old style hotel - what came across magnificently was the staff. I unfortunately had my jacket, wallet & phone stolen at a local tapas bar, when the hotel found this out they organised a car and translator to take me to the local Police Station to help me report the incident - it was so helpful... Great location and extremely quiet. Somewhat tired in parts particularly decor and bathrooms. Very pleasant staff particularly concierge and doorman. Could do with a makeover and upgrade and probably relies too much on "old regulars".Outdoor areas great in the summer .Parking is very good and every taxi driver knows it .

We had a quick stop over in Madrid so not much time to enjoy the hotel's amenities but the staff is attentive and the bed is really amazing after a long day traveling. Central location made the city accessible.

The hotel has an excellent location on a quiet tree lined street in one of the best parts of the city. The back of the property is directly across the street from the Prado Museum. There was a nice mix of guests including individuals, business people and a few small tour groups. It was not overwhelmed by package tourism. The... More

When I was there seven years ago they told me there was going to be a big renovation for the hundredth birthday in 2011. Well it never happened. Now they tell me the hotel has been sold , will be run by the Mandarin and will close for a major renovation which it needs badly in 2018. It will probably... More

Just love this lovely classic, elegant hotel in Madrid. Situated near Museums. Walking distance to many places: Museums, Plaza Santa Ana, Chueca, Retiro Park. Will most surely see some celebrity, political figure, movie stars, etc. The piano bar is a classic! Recommended!!!

Great hotel. Nice front desk and concierge. The adjoining rooms we had were comfortable although they were a little crowded with tables and chairs that made it a bit cramped. The common spaces are well cared for, the patio is a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing, and the breakfasts were excellent. This hotel also has a... More

Very disappointed. The room was not elegant at all, everything seemed really outdated. Only the carpet was beautiful. Would not stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone since it is not worth the money it costs.

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
