i was booked for 2 nights and actually left after my first night was spent kept up until 230 and woken at 7 by my neighbors. honestly they weren't THAT loud, but the walls have about zero insulation. i could hear my other neighbor snoring, but that wasn't what kept me up. TV and chatting, laughing did. it's a shame...

Thank you for your opinion to remind you that it is a case in point since we do not work with groups except for rare moments... hostel has other quiet rooms and some are soundproofed... communicate with us and you reserve one since we like you as a customer... Many thanks for your words they do not pose a problem...

This is a little gem. The accommodation is fairly simple but clean and the rooms are quite small. What makes it a good choice is the location. Almost everything you might wish for is within walking distance. I stayed for 5 nights and had a wonderful time. It's in a great spot for restaurants as well as all the major...

My wife and I stayed in this hostal, the room and private washroom were spotless. Angel gave us good recommendations of places to eat. The location is so convenient; subway station "Sol", restaurants like Museo del Jamon and 100 montaditos are really close from the hostal. The hostal has internet and the speed is really good. Despite of being in...

The location is unbeatable. Just few meters from Sol. The host was extremely helpful, he told us about 24/7 airport express so we didn't have to pay for an expensive taxi to the airport and even borrowed us his iPhone charger durig our stay. I was a bit surprised that it's not a regular hotel/hostel with a reception etc. It's...

We stayed at this place for 2 nights in Madrid. We were really impressed with the cleanliness of the room and toilet. The air conditioning worked well, especially in the hot month of August when we came. We also liked the location of this place as it was very central and within walking distance to most of the attractions. It...

Bottom line: can't beat the price, location, friendliness, and cleanliness of this establishment. Room met all our needs for our one night stay. Also our contact Angel was extremely pleasant and considerate. Check-in did take a little bit as he was also tending to another customer's issues at the same time. Things to note, however: 1) Hostal Patria is on...

From Hostal Patria we wanted to thank you for your opinion and for the time you have taken in this matter. Nevertheless, the information you are giving is false, which may be due to the little time you have spent with us (barely hours). This is probably why you didn´t understand our explanations correctly either. First of all, we would...

The Hostal can be difficult to find as its part of a multi floored complex, with the Exterior Hostal sign being quite high up on the 5 storey building. The location is very good, on the busy central Cale Mayor close to all the main historic points. The hostal is basic clean and functional, with the Superior rooms having a...

This place is so centrally located in Madrid that I doubt I would even bother to look elsewhere. Nothing fancy or boutique, but you get a room which meets all your basic needs in an excellent location for an amazing price. I hae to wait in Madrid to connect flights for an entire day. I arrived in the morning and wouldn't leave until next morning. So I decided to spend the day in Madrid. Apart from being in the centre of Madrid, offering extremely clean and well maintained rooms (and good value), the main differentiator for this place is Angelo. He was extremely helpful as well as flexible for us. When we accidentally booked the wrong date via booking.com, we thought we would lose our payment or incur a penalty, but a quick phone...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
