A good Madrid hotel. When I travel over 4,000 miles to a city I’m excited to see I don’t expect to spend a lot of time in my hotel room. I want a place that has a good bed, is clean, reasonably priced and in a good location to that city’s major attractions. This hotel took good care of those...

Do not enter the elevators with no one and if you do you go to the back. We were pick pocketed in the hotel elevator upon check in. Had a fight with the pick pocketer and no one bothered to intervene.

Dear guest, we are very sorry you were stolen your mobile phone in the lobby by someone who pretended to be a guest. Our immediate reaction was to call police straight away who showed up 10 minutes later. Front desk included breakfast complimentary during all the stay and paid the bill of your taxi to go and come back to...

Pickpockets in lobby with front desk personnel looking on. No security in lobby. Staff stealing from card after being already checked out. No manager was on duty when incident happened with the pickpocket. Manager was called and showed up the next day for a few hours and did not compensate for the incident that happened in their lobby. Spent weekend in Catalonia Atocha, hotel is centrally located and with walking distance of all major attractions in Madrid. Stayed in a room with a balcony but unfortunately weather wasn't good enough to sit out and enjoy. Room was modern, clean and very well maintained. Lovely vanity area and amazing bathroom with balcony. Staff friendly. Friends rooms were lovely and...

Dear guest, thank you very much for your nice review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in the terrace room and yes, it is a pity weather was not good. You definetely need to come back and enjoy a sunset from the roof top terrace of the hotel. Warm regards

We love city breaks but we like to be able to walk everywhere and we certainly could from here. Once you get a handle on just how central you are, it's a doddle. We chose a superior room with terrace which was good, not huge but certainly enough space for a 4 night stay. My only minor grumble was that...

The hotel is well located between the cultural quarter and the bars and restaurants around Plaza Santa Ana, not even too far to walk to Plaza Mayor. The hotel is modern and clean, functional with courteous staff. What more could you ask for? It is not luxurious or sophisticated but it has a pleasant atmosphere, a useful lounge and snack...

At arrival the person at the reception said we had to pay the room at the chek-in. After he said it can be paid later at the check-out. Confusing to me at first and did not make any sense since I all my travel I always paid at the check-out. Bathroom doors were broken and making really bad noise. In...

Dear guest, thank you for sharing your experience at Catalonia Atocha. Paying at check-in time is for our own security as we prefer not to pre-authorize credit-cards, finally the front-desk staff decided to let you pay at check-out as it seemed to be a problem for you. We are really surprised about your words toward Belen: she's maybe the most...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
