I would give 5/5 for the location. Hotel is a bit old and is under renovation. The noise of renovation was little annoying. They must have avoided new year holiday season for renovations. I was disappointed with the WiFi speed too. Staff was courteous and friendly. Plug points placement was not convenient.

We stayed 3 nights over the new year Reception staff were welcoming and friendly. We booked a family room but on arrival there was only 1 double bed in our room - having said this it was sorted out immediately. The room was clean and had good decor with a nice size bathroom. The bed was to hard for me...

This was already my third visit to this comfortable Mercure hotel. This time the hotel was under constuction and three upper floors were not available and breakfast room was smaller than usual. However everything was almost the same than usual. The staff was friendly and professional and householding was very well organized. The room was quite comfortable but requires face...

Set alongside España Square, you get to walk on the Grand Via del Sol Square and major museums. The room is large from the outside, as in presentation, but what he is not from the inside. Breakfast is diversified, but monotonous, no changes from day to day. The actual number is three star hotel, with a good price offer. Considering...

Reading some of the reviews (particularly the 'poor' and 'terrible' ones), I was worried what we might find upon our arrival and if I had made a mistake by booking this hotel. But our experience was completely the opposite! Firstly, the location is excellent! Right off Plaza de España with two metro stops near-by, close to the Royal Palace and...

Stayed here during a mini break to Madrid. Great location and easy to reach from the airport via the metro. Great check in and a lovely second floor room. Did not try the breakfast so cannot comment. Only small comment is the hotel does not have a bar. Some renovations were taking place during our visit but did not impact...

Everything was good during my stay in this hotel, the staff is very kind, my room on the 5th floor had a balcony and a nice view on the street, and there are 2 metro stations (Plaza de Espana, Ventura Rodriguez) just near the hotel. I will return in this hotel in the future!

Staying in Arguelles

Neighbourhood Profile
Arguelles
Just south of the sprawling campus of the Complutense University of Madrid, Arguelles exudes a fast-paced, collegiate vibe. The main street, Calle Princesa, is filled with twenty-somethings rushing between classes and errands, meeting up with classmates, and grabbing cheap beers and cheap eats. This is a prime shopping spot where the major Spanish clothing and department store chains are less busy than their downtown counterparts, and there is an array of casual dining options to choose from. Check out nearby outdoor spaces such as the lushly planted Plaza de España to the south, which is often filled with craft stalls. To the west of Arguelles is the giant Parque Oueste, a calm and picturesque park with its own Egyptian temple.
