Located very near a metro station in the center of Madrid, this small but comfortable hostal provided a nice short stay making it easy to walk right to the center. The staff were very friendly providing recommendations and advise on visiting Madrid. Would definitely return, great value for money!

Got a very good deal via an online site for a single room with en suite bath. Steps away from the Anton Martin Metro station, so very convenient from the airport or the two big train stations. A short walk to Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor, etc. The hostal is on the second floor with an elevator. Positive points:...

We arrived about 22:00 but was no problem to check in. We were surprised to see the size of the room (very very tiny). The staff was very friendly and the room was cleaned every day. They have free tourist maps but no toiletries or hair dryer .

It is really easy to find this hostel as it is just behind Atocha, one of the main streets. It is perfectly placed to reach all the main areas by foot, but away from more expensive, noisy tourist areas. Eating locally in Lavapies, away from the tourist trap, is great. The lady at the hostel was very friendly and helpful....

The location is amazing..Lavapies,where all the best tapas bars are located,is right in the corner and Plaza de Sol is 5 minutes on foot as many other important places. The rooms were small, but clean which was the most important.

This was the smallest room I have ever stayed in, and for $50 Australian the worst value in Spain. A larger person would struggle to maneuver the bathroom let alone attempt a shower. The no smoking signs mean nothing and the numerous keys work in some of the locks. DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE !!!

A simple place with a great location to explore all of central Madrid. We stayed for 3 nights and were very pleased with the hostel. The maid service was better than some of the hotels we stayed during our two week trip. Fresh, clean towels and bedding every day. We never took the metro because we were within walking distance...

My room was small, but functional, as was the bathroom and shower. There were small windows in both, looking on to the enviable garden terraces of the houses there. The ladies running the place were charming and always helpful – a key had broken in the street lock one evening and we were told that if we were out late...

This hostal is within walking distance to both the Atocha train station and to all major sites and attractions. Rooms are very small and basic, but is en-suite and very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was a bit noisy as faced the outside street, but the noise was from outside and not inside! Very good price!

The hostal is in the center of Madrid, 10 minutes to Atocha train station and to Puerta de Sol. It is in a typical old building of the historic district, but renovated. The rooms (with shower/bathroom) are quite small, but very clean and tidy, facing the courtyard (patio), so they are not noisy. The recepcionist and the staff are very...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
