Hotel with best location : an elegant and quiet neighborhood with the most exclusive shopping area., just few steps away from the amazingly beautiful Èl Retiro Park.
Hotel size is perfect , allowing for a personalized service.

At the Wellington you forget you are a tourist because you feel at Home.

We stayed at the Wellington for a week, while on a tour of art museums and collections in Madrid and Toledo. The hotel is comfortable and quiet, even though our room on the 2nd floor faced the busy Calle Velazquez. The breakfast buffet is outstanding.

Our room had a small sitting area and modestly-sized bedroom, but it was very comfortable. The bathroom was ample. The TV had a full range of Spanish and international channels, which allowed us to keep track of the coronavirus pandemic as it spread through Europe in late-February and early-March.

As I mentioned, the breakfast buffet was excellent, with a very large selection of fruits, cereals, meats, etc. It is served in a lovely room that is full of light and very elegant.

The hallways are elegantly decorated with paintings and prints. Room and laundry service were excellent.

A hotel that enhances and improves a holiday in every way is a rare finding but the Wellington hotel is one of the best that I know and manages to achieve this. Yes, there is a fairly hefty charge for the rooms. However, for this price, you will stay in a hotel with all the comforts and facilities of the modern top American chains and all the charm of an old-fashioned European hotel. The level of comfort is consistently very high. The hotel is extremely clean. Soundproofing is good, and when you draw the room curtains there is no light in the room at all. Even in a city full of friendly people, the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Somehow they always manage to smile. Small faults in the room receive immediate attention. Breakfast was superb, including an early morning continental breakfast on the day of our departure. I could continue, but I think you see the picture I am painting. In addition to all this, the location is in an unusually quiet part of a noisy city and there ate many good shops and restaurants nearby. I’m struggling to think of a fault, but nothing comes to mind.

We stayed in one of the suites at this highly rated hotel for 5 nights, however did not feel it was worth the price or the reputation.

Dark, dingy rooms in desperate need of renovation with poor service at the front desk and always absent concierge.

Our room was not ready for an hour despite checking in at 3pm. The lady at the "Club Lounge" seemed more keen to serve the Spanish guests rather than the visitors. The door handle of our bathroom literally fell out and the only response from the reception was this cannot be fixed today (or even tomorrow).

The staff speaks very little English and is not very helpful at all. They respond to only what's asked and don't go the extra mile to delight their customers.

The only thing good was the location of the hotel and the breakfast spread.

All in all, a heritage hotel that's in dire need of remodeling and a staff that really needs to be trained on customer service.

Absolutely not worth the super premium rates that they charge. I'm not returning to this hotel if I visit Madrid again.

A classic style hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful. The main bar is very attractive.
Our suite room was top floor and overlooked Salamanca and the park which was lovely.
The private room for suite residents was great though there was ‘one glass of Champagne only’ policy. Seemed a bit silly as I doubt this would have been abused by the clientele.
Regardless the canapés and food/drink on offer was very good.
The spa facilities were of good level though our experience was disrupted by a member of staff testing the apparatus while walking around with a clipboard. This seemed an unnecessary disruption and ruined the experience somewhat. There was also a noisy spa/gym member though not sure if the hotel can be blamed for this.
Would return - location alone would justify it when back in Madrid.

Being a pianist, the piano is not accessible to customers, even asking permission at the bar or at the reception, only excuses and prohibition.
The "Club Wellington", starting at 10:30 pm, they take everything away and tell the client, with ease, that they are going to close, when it should be at 11:00 pm as announced, closing time.
In the spa, for filling a bottle of water in the fountain, without qualms or scruples, they annoy the client by "prohibiting" with insistence and displeasure.
Renovated hotel, presence of black traces in the shower tray.
Insufficient buffet-breakfast compared to other hotels, trays empty quickly, you have to wait, there is not enough choice (an example: no eggs, neither boiled nor fried). Very strong air conditioning despite having indicated it. We have left with a cold.
For information, the "Hotel du Collectionneur ***** - Paris" or "Juan Carlos I ***** GL- Barcelona", varied and copious breakfast, spa included and / or without time limitation, accessible piano, staff very nice and listening, comparable prices.
In short, a set of details that make the experience unpleasant.

Thsi si clearly not a 5 star hotel. The room service is non existent, they don't want to serve you anything you want, the floor is full of dust, the bed and pillows are super cheap, no taste at all, the breakfast is a joke. Well overall only the cleaning of the room is ok, but they come 3 times a day so pretty annoying.

I would not recommend this hotel and I will not return for sure. Paying a suite 600 euro per night and not get to rest and sleep badly because of their bad furniture is a no no.

Do not go there. There are others hotels less expensive and with much more taste and more modern.

I have stayed here many time and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Madrid ..The elegant hotel has gilded charm with beautiful public spaces.. It's had guests like Hemingway and Gene Kelley...I 've seen matador's in there suits of lights in the lobby. The rooms are beautiful and quiet..The bed linens are real linen of very high end quality..The large rooms are sound proofed...The executive lounge has accommodating attendants with varied selections of food and drink..The breakfast buffet is one of the best that I have experienced at luxury world hotel. The doormen are excellent making sure you are getting where you need to go. The hotel has several restaurants and a fabulous piano bar off the lobby.Fellow guests are sophisticated and polite Spaniards and Brits. The neighborhood is full boutiques, antique stores, art galleries and good restaurants. It's a real five star hotel..

My wife and I, and my brother-in-law (celebrating his retirement), stayed at the hotel in late December-early January, following a stay in July with other family members. The highlight of our recent stay was the Christmas Eve dinner, which was superb in terms of quality of food and service. We have attended other such nice events in our lives, but this was the best! As usual, the Front Desk staff and housekeeping staff were very attentive to our needs. We plan to return there again when we travel to Madrid!

Wellington five stars hotel in Madrid is a rather posh and somewhat old style, mostly in the good meaning. with grander. The lobby and foyer are well decorated, service standard is high and rooms are spacious with large bed and decorated with heavy curtains and with wooden finish and furniture. Bathroom is nice but somewhat less comfortable compared to newer hotels.
Reception is kind and explanations are provided patiently also in English. Once arriving to the hotel there is always a person that will take care of your luggage. As should be in these level of hotels.
The hotel is very well situated in a posh and centric quarter of the city and with nearby all the luxury shopping streets prestigious shops.
The concierge services are somewhat inferior as it is provided by the reception staff and not by a separate expert person (in a separate desk) that should be extremely knowledgeable to provide ALL details about everything that is going around in the big city and guidance about what, where and when. Pity. Also prices are high and breakfast cost is extremely high.
