Stayed at Artistic for 3 nights in May. Everything was perfect! the location (close to shops, restaurants, museums), the price and especially the atmosphere and the hosts who prepared the breakfast provided loads of useful tips!

Just spent 3 nights at the Artistic. Paola and Rudolph were great hosts and have a charming place. It's located a short walk to the Prado or to the Sol or Opera Metro stops. The room we had was equipped with AC which worked wonderfully well. A very nice place to stay!

Great location, loved the unusual decor. Our hosts were great full of useful local information - we had some great meals following their recommendations. Wasn't sure about the idea of a big mixed breakfast table, but having done it think its great , we really enjoyed the conversations we had at breakfast - wish more places did it :) And by...

We stayed at the Artistic B&B for 3 nights and loved the quiet yet central location, funky decor, and friendly hosts. Paola and Rodolfo gave us terrific advice to make our stay in Madrid more enjoyable, and we met other interesting people at the breakfast table each morning. We walked from the train station to the B&B in about 20...

We have been in Madrid, staying in this B&B. Rooms are very clean, comfortable and nicely arranged by Paola, the owner. The B&B is located in the Barrio de las Letras, one of the most characteristic neighbourhoods in Madrid, at no more than 15 minutes walk from Puerta del Sol and less than 10 minutes from the Prado, the Reina...

We stayed as a couple two weeks ago for 5 nights. Paola and Rodolfo were excellent hosts and we really enjoyed our stay at the BnB. The house is done up beautifully by Paola and has interesting pieces of art everywhere. Rodolfo contributes with his fresh baked artisan breads and cakes every morning and with his ever present smile! We...

From this location we were able to walk to all the sites. The hosts were extremely helpful in offering sites to see, free times at museums and background on local culture. The rooms were quiet, peaceful and up-to-date bathrooms. Breakfast was generous and very tasty, with homemade breads. Be aware the B&B is 3 flights up, no elevator, but well...

My son and I had stayed at this wonderful B&B two years ago and upon returning this year we were greeted like long lost friends! I can't say enough about this wonderful B&B centrally located in Madrid. The great museums, including the Prado and the Reina Sofia, are within easy walking distance. Plenty of restaurants, including Casa Alberto, are nearby. Although a tough climb to the third floor, it's the place to stay in Madrid.

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
