Madrid in early December is jam packed full of people enjoying the Christmas lights and Hotel Liabeny is ideally placed to stay near the centre of Madrid. It's a big hotel but all the staff make you feel at home and it's very efficiently run. Rooms are dated but comfortable, breakfast is plentiful if not very imaginative but the hotel...

This hotel was located in a very convenient location and great value. Lots of restaurants around and shopping. It is right in the middle of Plaza Puerta del Sol and close to all of the sites. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone coming to Madrid to stay in this hotel. Next time that I am in town, I'll definitely stay there.

Madrid is wonderfully insane! I loved it, I walked and walked and walked. I loved the way the restaurants didn't really get going 'til late at night. The colour, the scents, the sounds--all of it makes for an exciting stay. In the midst of all this was a quiet, clean, spacious and comfortable refuge. I felt valued by the staff....

Lovely hotel positioned in the centre of Madrid. Easy access to the Cathedral and Royal Palace and near main shopping area. Be aware that it is very close to a red light district but whilst the ladies are obvious they are sensibily dressed! Our room was clean, bed comfortable and even though he bathroom was a little dated there was...

Hotel Liabeny is a solid 4 star hotel at a perfect location in Madrid. I stayed there for 7 nights during the Thanksgiving holiday. My room was elegantly designed with good lighting. House keeping was done by a sweet lady who kept everything super clean. The staff was very nice and helpfully. Leaving early to catch a train to Barcelona...

This is a very well run hotel, situated in the centre of the tourist area. The hotel was spotless, and the beds very comfortable. We booked early and got a bargain rate. We caught the bus from the airport which cost €5 each, and returned to the airport via the metro also €5 out of the 2 I would recommend...

Stayed for 5 nights and can't recommend the place enough. Great looking interior, very classy and clean, our room was a nice size, huge kingsize bed, tv with a few English stations (Sky News was handy), spotless throughout, good strong free WIFI, bath and shower are a bit cramped but piping hot water did the job on the shower. Very...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
