I stayed at Liabeny for two nights on a business trip. Overall the hotel turned out more or less as I expected based on other reviews and the price. I had what I think was one of the more basic doubles on the first floor with a view of the narrow street outside (not a particularly nice view but I...

Hotel Liabeny was very well-located and very safe. It is close to both the Gran Via and Sol Metro. Sol is in the middle of the city and whenever I got lost in this maze of cobbelstone streets, I just ask for directions to Sol. Everyone knows Sol and was able to direct me. From there, it's just steps to...

Great location, Wifi was excellent, rooms were very good. Cleaning staff were brilliant. Got a late check out for free after New Years Eve. If any negative it would be this. When I went to reception to ask for an iron they said they did not have one and only provided laundry service

I have booked a superior single room. Room was small and the mattress hard. Bathroom was clean but vintage. At the breakfast time, waiters could have been a bit more agreable. To resume, I expected more for the price.

In the heart of the city, walking distance to many main attractions. Staff helpful and polite. Very pleasant bar and lounge area. Good choice at breakfast. A set price dinner menu included a bottle of wine was very good value; an al a carte menu was also available. Car park was spacious, with easy access, unlike some city hotels. Room...

My wife and I stayed a Hotel Liabeny for 3 days just before Christmas. Liabeny is a traditional grand hotel with traditional service values which is a rare treat these days. We chose Liabeny firstly for its central location which makes it easy to see all the sights of Madrid on foot, and secondly because it has private underground parking...

We've a family of four who stayed three nights at this hotel during our Christmas trip to Madrid in 2016. The hotel is very convenient located just 2-3 minutes walk from Puerta de Sol (the big public square in the middle of Madrid city centre). The rooms were meticulous clean and all the staff were very helpful. We had breakfast...

We have just stayed at the hotel Liabeny for the second time this year. The hotel is ideally situated being on a quiet street about five minutes walk from the Puerta del Sol and the Gran Via. The metro stations at Sol, Gran Via and Callao are only a short distance. Our stay in the hotel was just as enjoyable...

Very nice hotel. Staff was very nice and helpful. Centrally located ~2 blocks from Puerta del Sol. Only complaint would be noise - but mostly due to us being on Floor 1 (second floor) and El Gordo, holidays, and crowds. Rooms nice, shower small but this is Europe. Would stay there again definitely

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
