I stayed at the hotel for one night because it offers good bang for your buck compared to others around the Gran Via. The location is not too bad and the staff is very friendly. The only issue I encountered; the AC wasn't working.

In the heart of Madrid! We had the air conditioner and TV in our room. The room was clean and the towels were replaced each day. We had a hair dryer in the toilet. Value for money, considering the location. But be aware that the breakfast is very very limited! Ask for a room on the sixth floor with terrace!...

We stayed in hotel Anaco by the end of August 2016. First, the location is the best, just few minutes to Sol station and few seconds from Gran Via, easy to find. The receptionists were kind. We got room nr. 601 (we would like to thank the lady on the reception :) ), which is on the last floor and...

Stayed with friends but just as good with partner or family. Cheap and cheerful - Friendly staff, clean and tidy rooms which were tidied each day. Good location for the centre and short distance from the nightlife of Madrid. Minutes from the underground - great for short breaks

The hotel is in an excellent location, right in the centre of Madrid and a couple of minutes from the underground. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The room was small but we had a large balcony which compensated for it. Ideal for a short city break and would highly recommend this hotel. Good value for money, bearing in...

The hotel localization the his strongest point, near the subway... 3 minutes on foot to portas do sol and gran via... fantastica! The bedroom was clean and neat, the toilets were renovated and functional, they could be better in some details like decoration but its a great and acessible hotel for those who go to visit the city all day...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
