The hotel is greatly located, only 5 minutes walk to the metro station "Gran Via" and 10 minutes walk from "Plaza del Sol" (the real center of Madrid). Although the exterior might not look very promising (I must admit at first I was disappointed by its look), inside it is the other way around. The rooms are extremely clean and...

We spent 3 nights in this hostal in the heart of Madrid. The rooms are small and quite basic, just what you would expect in a budget hotel, and it might be a good idea to have ear-plugs handy, as the Chueca area is very busy and noisy especially during the weekend. However, you get good value for your money,...

This hostal operates as an overflow for the Hostal Odesa in the same building. Female couples may consider this to be a confortable gay-friendly option, however the staff is more hostile towards gay male guests. Males will be much more welcome at the nearby Hostal Hispa Domus on Calle de San Bartolome.

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
