Location is TOP, 5 minutes from Puerta del Sol. But the fact I had to insert an 1 euro coin in the room safe everytime I had to use it, annoyed me so much. Apart from that, my single room had one of the smallest bathrooms I’ve ever seen. Much better choices in Madrid for that price.

We stayed for two nights. The rooms were basic but clean & comfortable. The staff was friendly & helpful. The location of the property is excellent, its in a quiet lane yet very close to El Retiro Park, Grand Via & San Miguel market. Even the Royal Palace is an easy walking distance. Lot of restaurants around the place. Good value for money.

We spent only one night in this hotel since we missed our flight but it was really nice The building is quite old and historic but the hotel on the inside is quite clean, tidy and very secure It is located right in the center and close to everything Make sure to have breakfast in La Rollerie if you're staying there (1 min walk)

Stayed for a few days in a single room with a private bathroom and it was a satisfying experience. The price was normal, not too cheap not too expensive. The room size was good too. The location perfect right next to Sol and very close to Prado Museum and Retire Park.

Setting the price is part of demand and offer, but when demand is high and the accommodation charges two times more than normal, guests should receive something as compensation. I recently stayed at Astoria Hostal paying around 150 Euros per room, and had to pay one Euro for using the safety box.

This is a hotel located in an ancient building on the 5th floor but equipped with an elevator. The receptionist did not speak English or French but we managed with our basic Spanish. The shower was modern and very complicated with no explanations. My wife nearly practically scalded herself and almost flooded the bathroom trying to turn it off. Aside from this, the bed was comfortable and we had no problem sleeping during two nights in downtown Madrid. It is located in the Letras neighborhood with lots of excellent restaurants and easy access to bus and subway.

6 family members stayed here for the weekend whilst visiting for a birthday. Great location with lots of bars, restaurants and shopping nearby. Rooms were well furnished and really clean. Excellent value for money - only £70 each for 6 of us to share 3 rooms for 2 nights. Rooms are not huge but we only needed somewhere to sleep! Would definitely recommend and happily go back again. Surprised by the comments about rude staff as all the staff we met were really pleasant and happy to help. Was surprised how quiet it was too as it was on a busy street and we couldn't hear anything both inside & out.

As soon as I got to the hotel, I didn’t have a nice impression. The entrance was too dirty, We had to enter by a side entrance, and with a very old elevator! The bathroom was very small, it was difficult to take a shower. The lady at the front desk was rude and hostile. I will never go back! Not recommended. The location is really good, but I wouldn’t sacrifice the rest of the pluses of a hotel.

Let me start with a couple of positives, the staff are very helpful and friendly. The room itself was clean, if not compact. The bathroom was interesting, congratulations to the magician who managed to put a sink, toilet and shower in such a very small space. I never thought I would have to stand up against the toilet to open and close the door! The noise levels in this hostel was just horrendous. You can hear plugs be pushed into the sockets, water running, toilets being flushed, people walking about, front door bell buzzing, lift going up and down, TV’s on, phone ringing and headboards banging against the walls.....no more to be said on that! Never again and if you enjoy your sleep then you need to avoid.

I had booked this hotel for my parents so they can be central in Madrid. While this place was central, the staff were extremely rude as my parents tried to book a tour to Toledo and were generally not helpful. I am sure there are other hotels in central Madrid that have location and courtesy...will not be staying here again. It is not acceptable to be impolite to guests who were just trying to get information about the place.
