Location is TOP, 5 minutes from Puerta del Sol.
But the fact I had to insert an 1 euro coin in the room safe everytime I had to use it, annoyed me so much.
Apart from that, my single room had one of the smallest bathrooms I’ve ever seen.
Much better choices in Madrid for that price.

The accommodation was basic, a bed and a bathroom with shower, but we had a big balcony which was great. The bed was comfy and we had hot water always. The AC was working perfect. The reception staff were all very kind and helpful, especially Julio who was at the check in.The cleaning ladies were polite and nice. They're cleaning the room daily if you want that. ( We didn't need it). They have a fridge and gave us complimentary water at the arrival .The towels were cleaned and it had also shower gel available. Was the cheapest accommodation we could find in the center, ( though very expensive for us) but we were near to everything. They even have a luggage room where you can store the luggage if you have a late flight , as we had. It was great in all the ways. In the city center near to all the attractions. We walk a lot but it's well worthy.

Central location, convenient for visiting the Museums of Madrid and close to Puerta del Sol and Gran Via. Excellent cleanliness. Friendly staff. At reception there is a bottled water dispenser but there is no coffee maker or hot drinks nor a kettle in the room. That's too bad. Great value for money. Recommended

We took advantage of the central and ideal location for a visit to the city.
The rooms have everything you need and are clean.
Otherwise the 24 hour welcome is also appreciable.
You can hear a lot of what's going on in the other rooms but it's totally bearable for a weekend.
Let's say that among friends this hotel does the job.

We stayed for two nights. The rooms were basic but clean & comfortable. The staff was friendly & helpful. The location of the property is excellent, its in a quiet lane yet very close to El Retiro Park, Grand Via & San Miguel market. Even the Royal Palace is an easy walking distance. Lot of restaurants around the place. Good value for money.

Good location, average quality and offers, the price depends on the dates... I went and the price was normal. It was expensive again. It doesn't have anything special, but it's okay for the place. In terms of slimming, he has almost nothing. The normal service.

Wow, what a great surprise! When I booked my stay in the Hostel Astoria I did so because of the great price and central location and I did not expect to receive much more than a bed and bath for the 65 euros I was paying each night. This hostel is an excellent choice for your stay in Madrid.
My first stay was for 3 nights and my second stay was for one night the day before flying back. I had two different rooms and both were super clean and very nice. The hostel must have just finished a complete renovation because everything inside and outside the rooms is brand new. The building that the hostel is located in is a 5 story building and this hostel is located on the 4th and 5th floors of the building. The location is in a safe and active area of Madrid so you will feel safe even late at night. The hostel itself is located in Cental Madrid just a block from the Seville metro station and within close walking distance to Puerta del Sol, although I would just take the metro and the next stop is the Puerta del Sol metro stop, so you will be there in about 3 minutes. The next stop in line is the Opera stop which is where the Royal Theater is located. A quick tip . . . if you are under 26 you can get tickets to the Opera 90 minutes before the show at a 90% discount! We attended a Strauss opera when we went, the tickets were 250 euros a piece and we got them for 25. OK, more about the hostel.
The entire hostel has brand new wood laminate flooring and is beautifully decorated. The rooms are small, they have just enough space for the two beds and a walking space around them. They have a large armoire to store clothes, suitcases and have a small safe. They also have nice sized LCD flat TVs but there are only about 10 channels that come in clearly. The bathrooms are tiled and have I think marble sinks but I can’t remember exactly. They are very clean, brand new with awesome water pressure. The first room I had came with a tub but the second room had just a showers with the body spray nozzles. THIS WAS GREAT! I will ask for this style room next time. The second room also had a large terrace balcony but the room itself was slightly smaller. There was no noise from outside the hotel, but sometimes in the morning I heard people leaving and entering there rooms, but nothing that big.
In conclusion, Hostel Astoria is an awesome choice for your Madrid stay. If you are looking for location, great price and a very clean room with high quality basic amenities, then this is the place to stay. I provided a picture of the second bathroom since I liked this feature the best. If anyone has any specific questions about the hostel e-mail me and I will try to see if I can answer it.

I am a little to old for a hostal, but this is not a hostal as I usually think of it. it is a small inexpensive hotel. however, because everyone shares a computer w free internet, their can be a slight hostal vibe, which is good if you are travelling alone. that said, you do not have to interact w anyone if you dont want to.
this hotel is in a great location to metro, museums, shopping and cheap cafes. the rooms are small but have all you need. i found desk staff friendly enough. i had no problems with noise or temperature of the room.

The Astoria Hostal in Madrid is very nicely located near the Puerta Del Sol. It's pretty much like staying in Piccadilly Circus in London or Times Sq in NY. You can walk to most attractions without any problem.
However, the beds were as hard as stone! I spent two nights there and I felt like I didnt have any sleep - terrible. Rooms have air conditioning and TV. Reception staff was helpful. The next time I'd try to find something else in the same area.

Hostal Astoria is located less than 5 minutes away, by foot, to Puerto Del Sol, which is the city center.
The hotel is nicely renovated and located on the 5th floor of a 19 century building. On the first floor there is a bakery which you can smell the delicious aroma going up the elevator. The elevator is very tiny, just like other European elevators.
The room we had was very spacious. It was a triple room that had 1 double bed and 2 single beds. The bathroom was ensuite and a nice size. One of our friends booked a single room with a private bathroom down the hall and this too was of good value. The hotel was spotless from the reception area all the way to the rooms and bathrooms.
The hotel doesn't have a curfew, but if you stay out past a certain time, you will need to hit the buzzard and the front desk clerk will have to let you in. Nothing wrong with that, just a good security measure...not that the hotel is located in a bad area...just the opposite.
The pictures on line don't do the hotel much justice. It's a pleasant surprise once you arrive. We paid less then 70 euros a night for a triple room, which was well worth it.
