I and my husband spent two nights in this hostal. It was just horrible, the room was very small, and more than simple. No TV , just the bed and the bathroom.the price of the room was too expensive 51euros !!!!there is a hotel in the dead middle of Madrid not far from Lopez and the room was very very intersting with... Had to cancel because I missed a train and rebooked. They were adamant about the penalty--until I showed up---The concierges (one an avuncular older guy and one the world's most solicitous woman) were very helpful. The room had a balcony that looked out over the street (which was a mixed blessing) But it was incredibly small. The shower and bathroom... More

its old and frayed a bit...but clean, friendly and above all a budget hostal with a GREAT location literally 7 minutes from the Prado museum and 10 minutes from the Ritz hotel! For the discerning budget traveller

However it may seem a bit small your room, but it transfer a nit feeling of coziness. May be this is due to the friendly encounter by the hosts there (I think they are a family that runs the place). Everything is O.K. inside there, although the cleanliness could be upgraded to a new standard level. And the more important... More

Great basic room with a nice family run hostel right on Huertas. It will be a bit loud, especially on weekends, but just a perfect location. The nightlife on Huertas, the Tapas bars, and the museum triangle are just steps away. W always wake up, eat at a local restaurant right on Hueartas, and then we are in a perfect... More

Our room was clean and spacious, the staff was very friendly, and the view from the window was picture-worthy. The location was very convenient both for enjoying the local attractions and nightlife and to visit the triad of must-see museums - Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen. However, the noise from the street was loud and persisted until the early morning.... More

Located on the famous tapas road full of activity, but our room was facing yard so it was peaceful. Stuff was friendly and for the price the place was great. No lift, so climbing to third floor should not be a problem.

I have been twice in this place, 2007 and 2013 and is just great, simple and easy to go. I always took a room with street view because is nice to wake up and smell the fresh air in Madrid. Nuria and his father are really nice and kind, keeping the hostel clean and useful for many years. You can... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
