Hotel Europa was surprisingly good hotel in terms of location, comfort, room size and convenience to travel because tube station was right on front of hotel. My room on the fourth floor was newly refurbished everything look new, fresh towels and it had a very fast internet. I would give them more than a three stars. The view from my...

Located in the heart of Madrid, right by Puerta del Sol. Walking distance to the museus, Retiro park, San Miguel market and Gran Via. Location is really good. However, rooms are a little old, reception is also outdated and breakfast is just a quick snack offered in the cafeteria next door. Croissant, coffee and orange juice is not quite breakfast...

Had a nice room facing the square. Great windows kept out the noise. Central location in a very lively area near bar, restaurants etc. Also convenient for public transportation. Desk staff was always available and helpful.

We LOVED staying in this basic hotel right on Madrid's central square, Puerto deal Sol. From this central location, it was easy to participate in walking and bus tours. And the hotel was within walking distance of every site we wanted to visit in Madrid. The icing on the cake was its proximity to La Mallorquina, which had the best...

Fantastic room with a balcony that opened onto the square, where every night there is a huge gathering, including families. Staff was very helpful. Restaurant in the hotel was very convenient and had great breakfasts. Best of all, the location was close to most of the things we wanted to see.

First, lets begin by location. Nothing greater than staying on the main square with a Metro just steps from the door. Second, the rooms, they were clean and comfortable. I think the sheets were changed every day (not only making up the bed, but replacing the sheets as well.) Third, the staff, friendly, polite, helpful. Not only was the hotel...

This hotel is conveniently located, Within walking distance to most points of interest and the Metro. This hotel has recently been renovated, my only complaint, though minor, is that the beds are not comfortable but overall this hotel is perfectly located. I will definitely book this hotel next time I visit Madrid

Decent amenities, clean room, but the location is the star. Literally steps away from the Puerta del Sol Metro exit so you don't have to haul luggage far. There's a lift in the hotel so no worries there either. Within walking distance to many attractions and shopping. Lots of restaurants in the area to choose from. Staff was friendly and...

We stayed for 2 nights from January 2-4 and were welcomed to the Hotel Europa. The Pinto brothers were efficient and welcoming. The room was excellent with updated bathroom. Everything from room service, restaurant lunch, asking to print boarding passes, and securing a taxi for an early morning flight was all spot on. Truly worthy of an excellent 5 star...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
